Race 1: QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institutre Open H'cap – 2200m

ALL CLEAR – Jockey G. Colless reported that he was unable to restrain his mount after passing the 1600m and it was not his intention to lead by such a margin in the middle stages.  Trainer N. Doyle stated it was not his instructions to lead by that margin but had expected the horse to perform well as it was stepping up into a more suitable distance. He added that whilst the mare had cover at its previous start over 1600m, it did not finish the race off well.

EMERALD CITY – When questioned, apprentice J. Oliver reported that the race was not run to suit the gelding as it appreciates sitting just off the pace and then being able to sprint in the straight. He added it was under pressure from the 600m.   A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and  a swab sample was taken.

Race 2: Naturally Australian Meat & Game QTIS 2yo Plate – 1000m

FUTURE EVENT – Jumped away awkwardly.

PINS FOR ARROWS – Slow to begin.  Had to be restrained from heels near the 700m.  A post race veterinary examination of  revealed soreness in the off fore and off hind legs. Trainer D. Kelly advised that the filly  would now be spelled, however a  veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

DREAM KISSES – Had to be restrained from heels near the 600m. Raced wide without cover.

GWAPO – Had to be restrained from heels near the 600m.

I AM VENUS – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.

JABROOK – Raced wide without cover.

PARISIAN TYCOON – Inclined to hang out throughout the race.

Race 3: Dean Webb Memorial Benchmark 80 H'cap -  1825m

DREAM FINNISH – Trainer M. Nolan advised that the only explanation he could offer for the improved performance was that the mare was forced to race wide on the track at Doomben at its previous start  on 12 November.

SPEED GONZALES – Had to be checked off heels passing the 1000m.

BLUE LION – Raced wide from the 1000m.   When questioned regarding her riding in the middle stages, apprentice T. Brooker stated that when the pace steadied near the 1100m she improved her position slightly as she was of the opinion that THE GREY FLASH was moving to the rail near the 1100m, however soon after THE GREY FLASH shifted back out, which resulted in her racing 3 wide from the 1000m.   She added that she was reluctant to push forward from that point without cover and waited until DREAM FINISH improved so she could take a trail off that mare.

ABU BEN ADAM – Jockey B. Stewart accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.

Race 4: Don Alroe & Sons Benchmark 80 H'cap -  1825m

JOMAR'S ELEMENT – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 1100m.  Raced wide without cover.

HAVASAY – Raced wide without cover.

RIGHT ADVICE – Checked near the 1000m.  Apprentice A. Fancourt, rider of MY GIRL HAYLEY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that  she allowed her mount to shift in near the 1000m, taking STAR OF NIGHT in on to JOMAR'S ELEMENT, which further shifted in, tightening the running of RIGHT ADVICE, which had to be taken hold of and lost its position, and as a result tightened the running of LADY DUPORTH.  Apprentice Fancourt was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 10 December and to expire at midnight, 21 December.  In assessing penalty stewards took into account  her guilty plea and good record.

Race 8:  IPG Connect George Moore Stakes Group 3 – 1200m

SONY LEGEND – Checked approaching the finish line.  Jockey D. Browne, rider of MISS COVER GIRL,  was charged of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift out when not fully clear of SONY LEGEND, resulting in that horse having to be steadied to avoid the heels of MISS COVER GIRL.  After considering the matter stewards did not proceed with the charge after it was established that prior to MISS COVER GIRL shifting outwards, SONY LEGEND was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of jockey R. Thompson, rider of BIG MONEY. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that  jockey D. Browne was fully responsible for the incident.

HARD STRIDE -  Inconvenienced by MISS COVER GIRL when weakening near the 50m.  Jockey D. Browne, rider of MISS COVER GIRL, was advised to exercise more care.

MISS COVER GIRL – Held up in the early stages of the straight.

Race 9:  Peak Sports And Spine Centre Mode Plate 3yo Fillies – 1200m

Due to an impending  electrical storm, stewards advised all media outlets and TAB that it was their intention to bring this race forward to start at 5.14 pm, however when runners were parading in the yard, stewards made the decision to abandon the last race at 5.07 pm when light deteriorated and an electrical storm was imminent.
