Race 2: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS 2YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M No racing incidents. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3. Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M STAR OF NIGHT – As the horse, which had been 1st Emergency in Race 5 at the Gold Coast on Saturday, gained a run following a scratching in that event, stewards acceded to a request by trainer D. Kelly to withdraw the horse from this event. HIDDEN GOLD – Steadied near the 1000m. Race 4: MOUNT FRANKLIN F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M HEATHER’S GRACE – Became unbalanced when bumped near the 300m. ROCK GARDEN – Slow into stride. Shifted out, bumped another runner and became unbalanced near the 300m. CREIDNE – Raced three wide without cover. Hung in in the straight. GRUINARD BAY – Held up for a short distance approaching the 200m. PRINCESS ROULETTE – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 300m. Race 5: GIDDY UP QTIS 3YO C&G MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M RIVER FIRE – Apprentice A. Fancourt explained that from the wide draw she was instructed to be positive on the gelding as in its first few starts it has been slow to muster speed. She said that whilst it was not the intention to lead, after riding hard in the early stages she was concerned that she was going to be caught at least four wide so for this reason made the decision to continue to press forward and eventually cross to the lead. CAMPO SERRANO – Eased down by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. SHONECK AFFAIR – Connections advised that if the horse jumps well from the wide gate it will be the intention to have the horse ridden in a forward position. After being caught five wide in the early stages, raced wide throughout without cover, and then was hampered on the home turn. SPUR ME PURPLE – When weakening near the 300m was steadied to avoid the heels of KINGAROY, which shifted out. J. Orman, the rider of KINGAROY, was reprimanded. KINGSMITH FLYER – Became unbalanced near the 900m after being bumped, and again near the 500m changed stride and stumbled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. KINGAROY – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Had to be restrained from heels near the 100m. Race 6: RELAXED RACING BENCHMARK 7 H’CAP – 1000MIMPULSIVE SPIRIT – Slow into stride. LA DOLCE VITA – J. Morris reported that after racing outside the lead he became concerned with the horse’s action on straightening and as he was of the view that something may have been amiss with the mare he did not persist in riding it out and eased it down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from heat stress and to have a poor post-race recovery. Trainer B. Smith advised that he would have the mare scoped the following morning, the results of which he undertook to forward to stewards. RUMERON – Checked off the heels of a tiring runner near the 100m.Race 7: WEDDINGS AT BRC C,G&E CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M STAROCITY – Began awkwardly and then was restrained from its wide gate. HAPPY SNITZEL – Slow to begin. MYSTICAL RENEGADE – Raced three wide without cover. LEGAL COUNSEL – As L. Rolls was to be overweight, A. Denby was substituted as rider. L. Rolls was fined $100. Race 8: SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1500M CASHING UP – Bounded at the start. HARADIFY – Underwent a veterinary examination at the request of the rider after arriving at the barriers and cleared to race. CANONGATE – Raced three wide without cover. SHE’S WORTHY – Slow to begin. BIANTIC – J. Lloyd explained that during the preliminary he was concerned with the horse’s action and for this reason he sought a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barriers. He said that after having the horse trotted and cantered up behind the start and in consultation with the veterinary surgeon he was satisfied that the horse was suitable to race, and this opinion was confirmed by the veterinary surgeon. He said that in the early stages the horse travelled comfortably, however after going some distance the horse did not feel free in its action and on straightening he became concerned and therefore from the 200m he eased the horse down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a wound over the near fore sesamoid and also showed speedy cutting to the left hock. Trainer T.
