QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB EAGLE FARM – SATURDAY 13 APRIL 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – OUT 3M ENTIRE COURSEPENETROMETER – 4.28 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. CaldwellStarter – R. SmithStewards Secretary – S. Rolls GENERAL Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was stood down by the Club’s Doctor following his ride in Race 5 and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Stewards inquired into an alleged altercation between jockeys M. McGillivray and L. Tarrant following the running of Race 3. After hearing all submissions both jockeys pleaded guilty to a charge under AR115 in that they did enter into a physical altercation. Subsequently L. Tarrant was fined $500 in that he was involved in a physical altercation and did push jockey McGillivray. Jockey M. McGillivray was fined $1000 in that he was involved in a physical altercation and did raise his elbow and strike jockey L. Tarrant. Both riders were advised of their review rights. Race 1: Jim Beam Black Carnival Ball QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Handicap – 1000m Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. Zielke the trainer of CLASS OF ROYALTY (A. Allen) which finished sixth against CHICO MILAGRO (S. Cormack) being declared the fifth placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight. After taking evidence Stewards were of the opinion that approaching the 200m CHICO MILAGRO shifted outwards in an attempt to obtain clear running however, in so doing made contact with CLASS OF ROYALTY and carried that horse wider on the track. After considering the nature of the interference, the manner in which the horses finished the race off and the margin Stewards were of the view that had the interference not occurred CLASS OF ROYALTY would have beaten CHICO MILAGRO to the finish and as such the objection was upheld and placings amended to read:- 1st DEVIL’S TEMPTATION2nd COULDN’T REFUSE3rd READY TO HUMBLE4th SCOUT5th CLASS OF ROYALTY6th CHICO MILAGRO Jockey S. Cormack the rider of CHICO MILAGRO was advised to exercise greater care when attempting runs in future. GETYOURGREYON – Lost ground on jumping when crowded between CHICO MILAGRO, which was carried in by COULDN’T REFUSE and KAORU KING, which shifted outwards after being bumped on the hind quarters. Crowded near the 800m to the inside of KAORU KING, which shifted in. CHICO MILAGRO – Inconvenienced and crowded on jumping between GETYOURGREYON and KAORU KING, which shifted outwards after being bumped on the hind quarters. Had to be eased off the heels of KAORU KING near the 500m when that gelding was racing greenly and shifting ground. Held up for clear running in the straight and approaching the 200m shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of KAORU KING and in doing so made contact with CLASS OF ROYALTY. THE WILD ONE – Raced keenly in the early stages. CONQUERING JUDAS – Inconvenienced near the 500m when CHICO MILAGRO shifted in after being awkwardly placed on the heels of CLASS OF ROYALTY. CLASS OF ROYALTY – Inconvenienced and carried wider near the 500m when KAORU KING shifted outwards when racing greenly. Bumped and carried wider when CHICO MILAGRO shifted outwards approaching the 200m. Raced three wide without cover throughout. KAORU KING – Raced very greenly throughout. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Race 2: TAB QTIS 2YO Fillies Handicap – 1000m BRAZEN GEM – During the week had suffered a minor bump to the near side knee, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. REAL SWEET – Slow to begin. EURO BELLE – Slow to begin. BUCKETS OF PRIDE – Raced greenly in the early stages and had a tendency to lay outwards. BUTTON PUSHER – Bumped on a number of occasions passing the 500m. Held up for clear running approaching the 200m. SAY HAYA – Bumped on a number of occasions passing the 500m. WRITTEN WITH EASE – Faltered passing the 500m. Raced three wide throughout. LONGBOTTOM – Shifted outwards abruptly over the concluding stages. BOLD EOS – Raced keenly throughout. Race 3: Brisbane Racing Carnival 2019 Benchmark 75 Handicap – 2200m Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey R. Maloney (HIGH OPINION) to view the patrol footage. After viewing the film jockey Maloney elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was given. DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE Slow to begin after jumping away extremely awkwardly. WU GOK – Crowded on jumping between DECONSTRUCTED and REMARKABLE SON, which jumped inwards. SEENTO – Slow to begin. SIR BARNABUS – Raced three wide in the early stages. FIGHTING TEO – When tiring had to be eased near the 200m when racing in restricted room between SIR BARNABUS and HIGH OPINION. WINNING WAYS – Laid inwards in the straight. HIGH OPINION – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight. Passing the 200m momentarily raced tight between FIGHTING TEO and WINNING WAYS. Race 4: Artisan Carnival High Tea Class 3 Plate – 1200m SPIN – Slow to begin. Brushed making the turn into the straight. TOTALLY CHARMED – Slow into stride. Momentarily steadied near the 800m when racing tight to the inside of NEW HORIZONS and TARDIS. Brushed making the turn into the straight. TARDIS – Raced wide in the early stages. NEW HORIZONS – Laid inwards under pressure in the straight. BLACK CRUSADE – Had a tendency to lay outwards throughout. DREAM KISSES – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance jockey S. Cormack indicated that after being crossed by another runner in the early stages he shifted wider on the track and improved outside the leader. Jockey Cormack added that whilst the horse travelled well he was of the opinion that the horse was inclined to overrace when racing outside the lead and in his opinion this had a detrimental affect on the horse’s finishing effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 5: Robert John Wallis Class 3 Plate – 1200m Trainer B. Dais was fined $200 for the late declaration of B. Nothdurft as the rider of SUILVEN. RABBIT HUNTER – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 300m was momentarily steadied when RIVER RACER shifted outwards. HOLD THE LINE – Jumped away awkwardly. RIVER RACER – Near the 800m eased when crowded to the inside of BACHELOR’S ART, which laid inwards and away from HOLD THE LINE. EXCELEBRAZIONE – Bumped passing the 200m. BACHELOR’S ART – Bumped passing the 200m. WOOSHKA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. SUILVEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout. MAJESTIC PEDRILLE – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Race 6: Caleb QTIS 3YO Plate – 1400m Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as the rider of I DREAM OF GREEN. STARBUSTER – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages. KNUCKLE UP – Slow to begin. TRUSTY LAD – Slow to begin. LICKETY LACHIE – Near the 1200m when racing keenly had to be eased off the heels of RACECOURSE ROAD. DEFENCE MISSILE – Shifted out under pressure in the straight. SOXAGON – Raced three wide throughout. Race 7: Become A BRC Member Class 6 Handicap – 1600m SEE THE MASTER – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG must be produced and the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. BRAINS – Momentarily tightened near the 200m when LE MATTAN laid in under pressure. LE MATTAN – Raced three wide throughout. Race 8: TAB Open Handicap – 1000m COOL SEQUENCE – Blundered on jumping. BELFLYER – Slow into stride. WHYCATCHIM – Shortly after the start was eased when crowded after AQUA VITE was carried outwards by STELLA OMBRA. Near the 800m was eased off the heels of GUARD OF HONOUR, which shifted in. Jockey L. Cassidy (GUARD OF HONOUR) was advised to exercise care when shifting ground. JADENTOM – Jumped away awkwardly. GUARD OF HONOUR – Near the 900m was eased off the heels of JADENTOM, which shifted in. App B. Nothdurft (JADENTOM) was advised to exercise care when shifting ground. GOLD SYMPHONY – Raced three wide throughout. VOLKOFF – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Co-trainer D. Guy was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the mare racing again. Race 9: Sporting Chance Foundation Family Raceday Open Handicap – 1400m FIT FOR PURPOSE – Blundered on jumping. Held up for clear running making the turn into the straight. BENFICA PRINCESS – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on the off fore fetlock. MASTER ZEPHYR – Slow to begin. TONSOR – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey R. Fradd when asked to comment on the horse’s performance indicated that the horse travelled well throughout the event however, was very disappointing when asked for an effort when entering the home straight. Jockey Fradd could not offer any explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination no significant findings. SHOGUN SUN – Had difficulty securing clear running between the 400m and 200m. ZAHSPEED – When giving ground was crowded near the 200m when SHOGUN SUN was attempting a marginal run to its outside. MORENDI – Raced wide throughout.CANNYESCENT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled trainer D. Forster was advised that CANNYESCENT will now incur a mandatory lifetime ban from racing. Race 10: WWW.BRC.COM.AU NMW Handicap – 1400m Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey L. Cassidy (PARK CHINOIS) to view the patrol footage. After viewing the film jockey Cassidy elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was given. SURPRISE BULLET – Slow to begin. DIAMONDS ARE – Slow to begin. Bumped over the concluding stages. LIMERICK MOON –Raced three wide from the 900m. Raced keenly in the back straight. PARK CHINOIS – Laid outwards under pressure in the straight. ALL PLUCK – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance passing the 200m. BEQUEATHED – Bumped over the concluding stages. UNIQUE MAGIC – Raced wide throughout.
