GENERAL
 
As M. Cahill was not riding due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS 2YO FILLIES H’CAP – 1000M
 
MISHANI MACHINE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400m and the 200m.
 
PRESS START – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the winning post.
 
FUNKY BEAT – Slow to begin.
 
JELLISHOT – Momentarily held up for clear running near the 300m.
 
MISS LOT WON – Jumped away extremely awkwardly and made contact with BRIGHT COPPER. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m.
 
PETUNIA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BRIGHT COPPER – Bumped on jumping away. Had a tendency to overrace, getting its head up on a number of occasions, between the 900m and the 600m.
 
Race 2: SUEZ PRO SKIPS BENCHMARK 80 H’CAP – 2400M
 
FOLLOW SUIT – Underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start and was passed fit to race.
 
LORD GODODDIN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the horse had lost the near fore plate.
 
VASSAL – Slow into stride.
 
ADVANCE WARNING – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
HOLBROOK – Had a tendency to lay outwards from the 600m.
 
SPEAKING BAD – Held up for clear running between the 400m and the 300m.
 
Race 3: DRIVER RECRUITMENT BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1815M
 
TATCEE – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if there was no pace in the race. After being slow to begin the horse settled near the rear of the field.
 
GREAT POWERS – Raced three wide whilst improving between the 1000m and the 800m.
 
MISSED THE ALARM – Trainer S. O’Dea was fined $200 for failing to declare apprentice S. Thornton as rider by the prescribed time. Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
BRANDO – Held up for clear running making the turn into the straight.
 
Race 4: AUSTRANS OPEN H’CAP – 1815M
 
After weighing out, L. Cassidy was examined by the Club doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
SABKHAT – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
FIGHTING TEO – Laid inwards in the straight.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 5: SUPERIOR PAK QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1600M
 
CELLARMAID – Laid outwards making the turn into the straight. Laid inwards over the final 100m.
 
ALIGNMENT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PERFECT PAGE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: NUGROW CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M
 
NATURAL FORCE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TOGA PICTA – Crowded on jumping between VIKING RAID, which jumped awkwardly outwards, and WRITTEN WITH EASE, which jumped inwards slightly.
 
AEECEE TONG DE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Trainer D. Forster advised that the mare had raced keenly today and at its previous start and she would consider removing the blinkers from the horse’s gear.
 
OBELOS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: BUCHER MUNICIPAL CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1600M
 
REALING – Raced wide in the early stages. Near the 400m was steadied off the heels of CULLINGWORTH, which had been carried out slightly by BARGANNON. B. Stewart, the rider of BARGANNON, was shown the film and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
MOST EXALTED – Slow to begin.
 
RED STINA – Slow to begin. Laid inwards in the straight and became awkwardly placed on the heels of MOST EXALTED near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Race 8: SUEZ RECYCLING & RECOVERY CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M
 
CABEIRIAN – Bumped by SOLAR STAR on a number of occasions between the 700m and the 600m.
 
GREYWOLF – Bumped by SHOGUN SUN near the 1100m.
 
LANGHRO – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
TAMBO’S MATE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SOLAR STAR – Was awkwardly placed on the heels of LIFESAVER, which shifted in near the 1100m. Bumped CABEIRIAN on a number of occasions between the 700m and the 600m. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Crowded near the 1100m and made contact with GREYWOLF when SOLAR STAR was carried inwards slightly by LIFESAVER.
 
Race 9: TOMRA OPEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
KEEN ARRAY – Laid outwards making the turn into the straight.
 
MEET MR TAYLOR – Raced three wide without cover.
 
LIFE ON THE WIRE – Brushed the running rail near the 300m. Trainer R. Heathcote reported that the mare may have choked down and he will now consider adding a tongue tie to the horse’s gear for its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be sore in both front fetlocks. Mr Heathcote was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
BOOMWAA – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
SWORD OF JUSTICE – Dipped on jumping.
 
Race 10: MELBOURNE CUP @ EAGLE FARM RATINGS BAND 0 – 70 H’CAP – 1200M
 
HIGH COST – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start. Momentarily crowded passing the 200m when racing to the inside of PINNACLE STAR.
 
PINNACLE STAR – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start by THE ADMINISTRATOR, which had been bumped inwards by HIGH COST, which in turn had been bumped inwards when CATMOSPHERE shifted in abruptly. Bumped with THE ADMINISTRATOR for a number of strides near the 1000m.
 
ROTHABYE – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
THE ADMINISTRATOR – Bumped and crowded shortly after the start. Bumped with PINNACLE STAR for a number of strides near the 1000m.
 
BORN BAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
WHODUNNIT – Had to be taken outwards to obtain clear running near the 300m.
