TRAMONTO – Jumped awkwardly outwards and in doing so bumped BOOM SPENDER. ONE MORE PINOT – Jumped away awkwardly. BOOM SPENDER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Got its head up when being steadied approaching the 1000m and again had to be steadied shortly after off the heels of HANCORA FIELD, which shifted inwards. MISHANI MACHINE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. App J. Murphy reported that his mount settled back as expected however, was not suited with the tempo of the race although it did finish the race off well. Race 2: Cascade Benchmark 75 Handicap – 2225m I’LL MISS YOU - Trainer J. Pratten advised the intention would be for the horse to be ridden forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin. Shortly after when attempting to go forward got caught wide and settled in a midfield position. After passing the 1200m was gradually allowed to stride forward however, was still caught wide. BROCSON – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages. MAXWELL – Proved extremely difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. ART ATTACK – Raced three wide from the 800m. CORSINI – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which weakened in the home straight, revealed it had sustained lacerations to the off hind leg, consistent with being galloped on. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4. Race 3: Grinders Class 3 Handicap – 1840m CHAMPAGNE VEGA – Trainer B. Hill the advised the intention would be for the horse to be ridden more conservative midfield or back. Reared as the start was effected resulting in its rider striking his head on the barriers. As a result was slow to begin. App B. Nothdurft was examined by the Club’s Doctor following the race and cleared to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. BULLET SHOT – Slow into stride. POPULIST – Pulled hard in the early stages and continually got its head up on a number of occasions when racing three wide in the middle stages. VALADYIUM – Pulled hard in the early stages. ULTIMATE RING – Making the turn into the straight was buffeted slightly when racing between POPULIST and BASANITE. ROUND OF APPLAUSE – Laid outwards in the straight making the turn. BASANITE – Bumped making the turn into the straight and momentarily inconvenienced near the 300m when ROUND OF APPLAUSE laid outwards. TWILIGHTER – Laid outwards over the final 200m. MILL CITY – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Race 4: Mount Franklin QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1600m BADOOSH – Crowded on jumping. When weakening near the 1000m blundered after clipping the heels of VANNA GIRL. Held up in the early part of the straight. EIGER – Crowded on jumping. VIOLET – Slow to begin. When following BADOOSH had to be taken outwards abruptly when BADOOSH blundered near the 1000m. ZAMZARA – Bumped heavily after the start and in doing so shifted outwards bumping GALA MISS onto ZIGALLENE. Raced keenly and laid outwards throughout.GALA MISS – Bumped shortly after the start and then had to be eased off the heels of STUTTERING. ZIGALLENE – Bumped outwards shortly after the start. SIZZLING BABE – Near the 1000m when proving difficult to settle had to be eased when racing tight to the inside of BAMBALAM and to the outside of EIGER, which shifted outwards slightly. Near the 200m was eased when crowded between GALA MISS and BADOOSH, which shifted outwards after being bumped on the hind quarters by SIZZLING BABE. Raced three wide with cover throughout. BAMBALAM – Checked near the 300m when shifting in and away from BADOOSH and EIGER, which was laying outwards. Raced three wide throughout. Trainer P. Duff advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Race 5: Jim Beam Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200m The start was delayed when MOONSHINE LADY was difficult to load and then became fractious in the barriers getting its off hind leg up over the back gates of its barrier. MOONSHINE LADY was declared a late scratching at 3.04 p.m. acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on MOONSHINE LADY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3.04 p.m.:- 5 cents in the dollar for the win #4 (BOOM BOY) 11 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #4 (BOOM BOY)9 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place #3 (MOSCINI)11 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #6 (PERFECT AIM) Co-trainer W. Hulbert was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. NICK THE SKIP – Dipped on jumping. Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 100m. MOLLY’S ROCKING – Unable to obtain clear running between the 400m and 200m. Jockey B. Stewart dropped his whip near the 100m when racing tight to the inside of SHAMURT. SHAMURT – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages by KATY’S DAUGHTER, which laid outwards whilst tiring. KATY’S DAUGHTER – Laid outwards whilst tiring over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. HIGH COST – Raced three wide with cover throughout. AMORE DANZA – Raced three with cover throughout. JINX ‘N’ DRINX – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Jockey L. Dittman (PERFECT AIM) was reprimanded for using his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m. Race 6: Canadian Club Open Handicap – 1600m SPECTROSCOPE – Trainer N. McCall advised the intention would be for the horse to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Hampered at the start resulting in it racing in a rearward position. Shifted in under pressure over the final 100m and made contact with NEW UNIVERSE over the concluding stages. SILVERA – Slow into stride. When questioned App B Nothdurft stated that he settled in a rearward position as expected and approaching the turn into the straight was following SPECTROSCOPE, which he expected to take him into the race. App Nothdurft added that shortly after making the turn into the straight came to the outside of SPECTROSCOPE and after placing SILVERA under pressure failed to sprint as expected however, continued to make ground over the final 200m. App Nothdurft further added that in his opinion the gelding may now be looking for further ground. DEVLANN – Slow to begin and shortly after was crowded when racing between NEW UNIVERSE, which rolled outwards slightly and SPECTROSCOPE, which shifted in and away from BALBOA ROCKS. PRIORITISE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. NEW UNIVERSE – Approximately 50m after the start was steadied off the heels of BALBOA ROCKS, which shifted inwards slightly away from BODEGA NEGRA. MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. COOL CHAP – Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Race 7: Coca Cola NMW Handicap – 1400m Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer R. Heathcote for the late declaration of R. Fradd as the rider of PLITVICE as the horse was a declared acceptor at Doomben on Thursday 6 February 2020 which was subsequently abandoned. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Trainer S. Leef for the late declaration of J. Bayliss as the rider of FLYING MACHINE as the horse was a declared acceptor at Doomben on Thursday 6 February 2020 which was subsequently abandoned. RAMTASTIC – Jumped away awkwardly. BARACHIEL – Slow into stride. BOLD WARRIOR – Pulled hard in the early stages. Held up for clear running shortly after passing the 400m. SMART AS ATTACK – Held up rounding the turn into the straight. FLYING MACHINE – Bumped near the 400m. MR TICKETS – Bumped near the 400m. Over the concluding stages had to be checked when racing between BOLD WARRIOR, which rolled outwards slightly and RAMTASTIC, which shifted in and away from FLYING MACHINE. App J. Guthmann-Chester (BOLD WARRIOR) and Jockey S. Cormack (RAMTASTIC) were both advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. MELTED MOMENTS – Raced wide throughout. FOMO – Lost the off fore plate in running. Jockey J. Bayliss was examined by the Club’s Doctor following his ride in this event and stood down from his remaining ride. Jockey Bayliss was subsequently replaced by M. Du Plessis as the rider of CHAMPAGNE JET in Race 8. Race 8: Makers Mark QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1200m Co-Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $200 for the late declaration of J. Bayliss as the rider of CHAMPAGNE JET. Trainer K. Fogden was fined $100 for the late declaration of App J. Guthmann-Chester as the rider of SHAKA ROCK. THINK I’M FLYING – Crowded on jumping between GETYOURGREYON, which jumped outwards and CLEAR THE BILL, which was bumped inwards by CHAMPAGNE JET. CLEAR THE BILL – Bumped on jumping. Had a tendency to overrace in the early stages. Momentarily held up near the 450m. CHAMPAGNE JET – Made contact with GOLLY HUTT on jumping. Thereafter got its head up and shifted inwards bumping CLEAR THE BILL. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. BABY BOOMER – Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start became unbalanced when making contact with the hind quarters of GETYOURGREYON. AIR SPIRIT – Slow to begin. SNOWZONE – Pulled hard in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. SHAKA ROCK – Held up rounding the turn into the straight and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of CLEAR THE BILL, which rolled in approaching the 400m. GETYOURGREYON – Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. GOLLY HUTT – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 9: Roku Gin Class 6 Handicap – 1200m ICE FROST – Buffeted on jumping between INVINCIBLE GANGSTA, which jumped outwards and QIJI PHOENIX, which jumped inwards. AUERBACH – Shortly after the start steadied off the heels of INVINCIBLE GANGSTA. Overraced in the early stages. INVINCIBLE AL – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running between the 400m and 200m. DENARIUS – Proved difficult to settle and made the turn near the 800m awkwardly. NO ANNAMOSSITY – Raced wide from the 700m. DREAM MASTER – Steadied over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed just to the inside of the heels of QIJI PHOENIX, which was laying inwards.
