SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Race 4 Cairns Jockey Club 28th August 2020.
 
J Bayliss, rider of FRED’S GIFT, pleaded guilty to charge under AR132(5) for excessive use of the whip on 17 occasions in total, 3 more than permitted. J Bayliss was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 6th September up to and including 13th September 2020.
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 3 Plate 1000 metres
 
FISTICUFFS – Three wide with cover for majority. Momentarily awkwardly placed at the heels of LE PARMIER when being shifted wider to improve.
 
MITTERE – Restrained after the start and shifted across runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
LE PALMIER – Three wide throughout without cover.
 

Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN No Metro Wins Handicap 1600 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when NO REFUND required farriery attention on arrival at the barriers.
 
BARACHIEL – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Apprentice E Smith was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on 16 occasions in the home straight, 2 more than permitted.
 
ATOUCHMORE – Fractious when being transported to the track. ATOUCHMORE was subsequently examined by the Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
FLYING MACHINE – Restrained after the start and shifted across runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
ZOULOU DANCER – Three wide throughout without cover.
 
JOCHBERG – Three wide early stages before obtaining position outside leader near 650 metres.
 
NO REFUND – On arrival at barriers the offside plate was refitted. Examined by Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
ATYAAF – App J Murphy was of the opinion the gelding did not appreciate todays track conditions.

ELTIZAAM – Jumped in at the start. Disappointed for a run near the 200 metres.
 
Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB 3YO Plate 1200 metres
 
SIMPLY FLY – Tightened between runners on jumping. Inclined to over-race when three wide in early stages. Obtained position outside the leader near 700 metres. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MASTER RED – Slow to begin. Contacted the running rail near 100 metres when bumped by SING FOR VIOLET. Hung out for majority of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SAFEWORK – Raced three wide throughout without cover.
 
KISUKANO – Restless after being loaded into the barriers.
 
SING FOR VIOLET – Tightened on jumping between runners.
 
Race 4: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
KIEVANN – Trainer L Abbott was fined $200 for late declaration of rider on KIEVANN. Raced three wide in the early stages before settling outside the leader near the 800 metres.

ENDLESS RIVER (NZ) – Laid in near the 300 metres and was obliged to check away from the heels of KEIVANN.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – Steadied from heels near 900 metres. App J Huxtable dropped his whip near the 150 metres.
 
FOXPACK – Checked approaching the 1000 metres when tightened for room by MOTOMISS which was taken in by COURT RULES which was crowded for room when ENDLESS RIVER shifted in when not fully clear. L Dittman, rider of ENDLESS RIVER, was found guilty under AR131(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence midnight 5th September up to and including 11th September 2020. In considering penalty Stewards acknowledged the excellent race riding record of L Dittman under this rule.
 
MOTOMISS – Tightened for room near the 1000 metres.
 
COURT RULES – Crowded for room approaching 1000 metres.
 
 
Race 5: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QUALITY Handicap 1400 metres
 
SNITCH – Rider R Maloney reported it was not his intention to race in a forward position, however after being caught wide and due to the lack of early speed in the event, the gelding raced in a more forward position.  
 
SKATE TO PARIS – Slow to begin.
 
SMARTEDGE – Restrained at the start.
 
SUPERGIANT (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout without cover. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
 
TAWFIQ BOY – Pulled hard in the early stages. Rider M Cahill reported the gelding, in his opinion, did not appreciate todays track conditions.
 
 
Race 6: BRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2200 metres
 
 
LORD GODODDIN (GB) – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a forward position outside the leader near the 1800 metres. Bumped with SPIRIT near the 900 metres.
 
FLASH AAH – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT (BRZ) – Shifted three wide near the 1400 metres before progressing forward to race outside the leader near the 800 metres. Bumped with LORD GODODDIN near the 900 metres.
 
HOLBROOK (NZ) –  Rider M Hellyer reported after being caught wide he elected to progress forward to lead the event. He further added HOLBROOK was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 7: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1400 metres
 
PERSUADER – Bumped with FREE TO FLY near the 250 metres. Stable representative Mr M Hoysted was cautioned regarding the presentation of the pre-race ear muffs on the mare which proved difficult to remove behind the barriers.
 
FREE FLY TOO – Bumped with PERSUADER near the 250 metres.
 
BENFICA PRINCESS – App J Murphy was reprimanded for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted.
 
THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Slow to begin. Rider J Bayliss pleaded guilty to charge under AR132(5) for excessive use of the whip on 16 occasions in the home straight, 2 more than permitted. J Bayliss was fined $300.
 
GINGER ROCK – Over the concluding stages was tightened for room between LOVE STRUCK and THE TAX ACCOUNTANT.
 
 
Race 8: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB Class 6 Plate 1200 metres
 
I DREAM OF GREEN – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
DEFENCE MISSILE – Taken wider rounding the home turn when DESERT LORD shifted out to improve.
 
DITMAS – Began awkwardly and shifted out and bumped I DREAM OF GREEN. Laid out in the home straight when weakening.
 
GUNTANTES – Knuckled on jumping away. Unable to secure clear running from the 400 metres until the 150 metres. Lost near hind plate in running.
 
DESERT LORD – Shifted out rounding the home turn hampering DEFENCE MISSILE. Rider R Maloney was advised to exercise more care.
 
 
Race 9:ASCOT GREEN OPEN Handicap 1825 metres
 
SATONO RASEN (JPN) – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
ALWARD (IRE) – Rider L Dittman was reprimanded for use of the whip six times prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
THE KINGDOM – Blundered near the 500 meters and was retired from the event. The gelding was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds after sustaining an injury to its off foreleg.
 
ALIFEROUS – Disappointed for a run between KAONIC and HAPPY GO PLUCKY near the 350 metres before shifting to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
RUBY GURU (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early stages.
