QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB EAGLE FARM – WEDNESDAY 9th SEPTEMBER 2020 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – +9m entirePENETROMETER – 5.3 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D.AurischStewards – P.Gilliard, W.Hadley, R.HansonClerk of Scales – J.HackettJudges – M.Mahinnney, A.Redding, R.Thomas Veterinarian – G.SilvestriSwab Attendants – J.Crompton, A.ChallenStarter - S.Lister Assistant Starter - P.Cousins RACE 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400M COULOMB (NZ) - Was in the adjacent barrier to ABRACADAZZLE and was contacted by ABRACADAZZLE. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Hampered at the start when tightened for room between ABOVE THE LOT and ABRACADAZZLE. Forced wide approaching the 1000m and raced three wide without cover from that stage. COURT ROCKING - Began awkwardly. PERNELL - As B.Nothdurft was to be over-weight he was replaced by R.Fradd. B.Nothdurft was fined $200 under rule AR 190(3). SHAMROCK LU - Rider J.Byrne reported at scale that the colt was disappointing in its finishing efforts when it weakened in the last 200m. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the colt to have poor post race recovery and pain on flexion in the off foreleg. Stewards were advised that the stable will report the results of a veterinary inspection in the coming days. ABOVE THE LOT - Jumped awkwardly. Near the 1100m commenced to overrace when being restrained from the heels of EXPOSED SECRET shifted out. ABRACADAZZLE - After being loaded, became fractious and reared. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared fit to race. Approaching the 1100m when over-racing had to be restrained from the heels of WITHOUT CHOICE. EXPOSED SECRET - Had to be steadied from heels near 1100m. Continued to overrace in the middle stages. GULLFOSS - Near the 800m was tightened for room by ABOVE THE LOT which shifted in slightly before being corrected. Approaching the home turn was held up and unable to improve. RACE 2: BRC – LIKE NOWHERE ELSE IN BRISBANE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1845M TIOMO - Stood flat footed and lost significant ground. Trainer D.Grisedale was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. FLYBRIDGE - Rider S.Cormack reported that the gelding over-raced throughout before commencing to weaken over the final 400m. He added that the gelding had made an abnormal respiratory noise. Underwent a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer B.Lockwood was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. RACE 3: XXXX DRY BM78 HANDICAP 2218M FLASH AAH - Overraced badly in the early and middle stages. Near the 250m when weakening, shifted in abruptly under pressure. NEPTUNE'S CHOICE - Shifted out at the start and bumped LORD GODODDIN. Shifted three wide near the 1400m and was ridden forward to race outside the leader passing the 1200m. SPIRIT (BRZ) – Connections advised a change of tactics with the intention to lead if circumstances permit. Was ridden accordingly. HOLBROOK (NZ) - Hung out from the 600m. RACE 4: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BM75 HANDICAP 1400M KEDAH (NZ) - Hung in when placed under pressure over the final 300m. MANTELLI - Began awkwardly and lost some ground. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Was unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight and until leaving the 250m when it obtained a run to the outside of THE TAX ACCOUNTANT. VENI VIDI VICI - Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages and as a result remained three wide until it was restrained to the rear of the field. RACE 5: MOUNT FRANKLIN CLASS 6 PLATE 1000MSTELLAR POWER - Near the 500m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of PIZONIE which shifted in when not fully clear. R.Maloney was found guilty a charge under rule AR.131(a) in that approaching the 500m he permitted his mount PIZONIE to shift in when not sufficiently clear of STELLAR POWER, resulting in that runner being restrained from his heels and losing ground. R.Maloney had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 16th September 2020 to expire midnight 25th September 2020. PIZONIE - Raced three wide in the early stages. HOWWONDERFULLIFEIS - Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m which resulted in ROCK BEAT being taken wider. ROCK BEAT – Taken wider over the final 200m. RACE 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY MAIDEN PLATE 1200M ARCADIAN SHORES - For some distance approaching and passing the 700m when over-racing, had to be restrained when trailing CLEARANCE SALE. JIMMY NEUTRON - Raced keenly when shifting in behind SILESIAN near the 900m in an attempt to obtain cover. SILESIAN - Jumped awkwardly. EVA THE DIVA - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having an extended period since its last race start and was found fit to race. From the outside barrier, was restrained to the rear of the field to obtain a position on the rail. TAYELLA – Over-raced in the early stages. KUDU - Raced three wide without cover. PRINCESS CLEOPATRA - Approaching and passing the 700m had to be restrained from the heels of ARACADIAN SHORES. WARP SPEED – Trainer R.Heathcote advised that the gelding would undergo a post-race veterinary examination including endoscopic examination and will furnish the results of such to the Stewards without delay. RACE 7: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M Stewards considered an objection from D.Smith rider of HIGHLAND SUN which finished 3rd, alleging interference against MIDLAND being declared 2nd place getter, alleging interference in the final 250m of the race. After considering the evidence from all parties, it was established that approaching the 200m MIDLAND shifted in under riding when not fully clear of HIGHLAND SUN which resulted in that horse having to alter course to the outside of MIDLAND, soon afterwards MIDLAND shifted out resulting in HIGHLAND SUN being taken wider. Stewards were of the opinion that the interference sustained to HIGHLAND SUN was greated than the half head margin between the runners at the finish and upheld the protest. Stewards declared correct weight on the revised numbers (4,9,10,3,1). INVIGORATING - Cast off hind shoe in running. BACK THE ROCK – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. HIGHLAND SON – Over-raced in the early stages. RACE 8: BRC SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000M After working hard in the preliminary, the rider of FINAL DECLARATION requested that the gelding be examined by the veterinary surgeon. Stewards declared FINAL DECLARATION be declared a late scratching at 5.12pm under veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards declared all monies on FINAL DECLARATION be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply: 12 cents win (READY TO ROAM) 7 cents win place (READY TO ROAM) 17 cents second place (BROOKLYN STAR) 11 cents third place (ZOOFARI) SKILORD (NZ) - Began awkwardly. Was inclined to lay in in the early part of the home straight. Passing the 200m had to be restrained from the heels of ZOOFARI. WOODLEY'S GOLD - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight, until approaching the 200m. OUR ARIANA - Raced three wide without cover. Rider M.Cahill reported at scale that his mount hung out for a major part of the race and proved difficult to ride out in his normal manner. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Trainer D.Forster was advised by Stewards that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners. HINANO - Raced three wide. ZARAFET - Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover. Rider reported that his mount hung out during the early and middle stages.
