GENERAL

Jockey Adam Spinks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR188(b) in that at the GCTC meeting on 5th December in Race 5 he rode PASSTOW in an unapproved, modified vest. Jockey Spinks was fined the sum of $750.

Apprentice Jaden Lloyd pleaded guilty to a charge under AR188(b) in that at today’s BRC meeting in Race 2 he rode SUN MOON SKY in an unapproved, modified vest. Apprentice Lloyd was fined the sum of $750.


Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 3-Y-O BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres

THE RITZ – Caught wide in the early stages of the event.

COSMIC GOSSIP - Tightened for room near the 1300 metres when QUEEN DAZZLER crossed to the lead. B Thompson, rider of QUEEN DAZZLER was advised to exercise greater care.

BRIGALOW BOY – Tightened for room near the 1300 metres when QUEEN DAZZLER crossed to the lead. Bumped near the 500 metres when THE RITZ shifted in momentarily. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, Rider J Stanley stated this was the geldings first start over 1600 metres, adding when the tempo of the race steadied in the middle stages BRIGALOW BOY was unable to sprint when the pace quickened at the 600 metres. He further added in hindsight it would have been a better option to have led and dictated the tempo of the race. Trainer C Taylor could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and advised Stewards BRIGALOW BOY would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a post-race swab sample was taken.

NICKS – After being initially slow to begin, was checked between QUEEN DAZZLER and COSMIC GOSSIP which was taken out by BRIGALOW BOY.

Race 2: HELLBENT FIRST CROP AT MAGIC MILLIONS Maiden Plate 1600 metres

The start of this event was delayed when SUN MOON SKY needed to be re-saddled behind the barriers.

AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY – Taken in near the 1100 metres. Inclined to hang in in the home straight. Rider B Stewart dropped his whip near the 100 metres.

ELGIN – Raced four wide in the early stages of the event.

ICE ELITE – Slow to begin.

JERRY ZANDA – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event.

TWO SMOKIN BARRELS – Approaching the 500 metres improved onto the heels of HIGHLIGHTS, and shortly after shifted out to improve.

HIGHLIGHTS - Rider M Rodd was reprimanded under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions, one more than permitted.

I AM A BEAUTY – Raced four wide in the early stages of the event.

XTRA REWARD – Checked near the 1100 metres. Apprentice J Lloyd, rider of SUN MOON SKY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY which was taken in and across the rightful running of XTRA REWARD which had to be checked. The license of J Lloyd was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 22nd December up to and including midnight 31st December 2020.

AGENT NINETY NINE – Raced three wide without cover.

LADY GRAZIER – Raced three wide in the early stages.

SEMIFOX – Near the 500 metres had to be steadied from the heels of TWO SMOKIN BARRELS and as a consequence lost ground.

TIMOTHY – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Rounding the home turn brushed with ADVERTISING on a number of occasions.

Race 3: BEST BRED BOOMS SELL IN 2021 Maiden Handicap 1000 metres

BIG ANDY – Slow to begin.

KINGSTON'S HERE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider B Thompson reported the gelding raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SIZZLING TOUCH – Slipped behind on jumping and as a result began awkwardly.

FLORA – Approaching the 400 metres improved onto the heels of TOGZ and as a result shifted out taking PRINCESS TENKO wider on the track.

GAELIC PUZZLE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

PRINCESS TENKO – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Taken wider on the track leaving the 400 metres.

INFORMER - Raced three wide with cover throughout. Approaching the 400 metres improved onto the heels of TOGZ and as a result shifted out taking PRINCESS TENKO wider on the track.

TOGZ – Brushed near the 800 metres.

ARCING HARD – Near the 800 metres shifted out and brushed TOGZ.


Race 4: CASCADE Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres

SUPERARE – When asked to comment on the performance rider B Stewart advised he was not overly disappointed with the performance and that the wide draw did not suit the racing pattern of SUPERARE.

GENERAL WITT – Slow to begin.

BID IN A HURRY – Held up rounding the home turn before altering course near the 300 metres to the inside of FIVE OXFORD to improve.

SEE MIRACLES – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

BOOM SPENDER – Near the 400 metres improved onto the heels of GENERAL WITT and had to be momentarily eased.

Race 5: XXXX BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 2150 metres

CITY SMART – Slow to begin.

WARP SPEED – Slow to begin.

TRAVISTEE – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader near the 1600 metres.

Race 6: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL Class 5 Handicap 1400 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight and after viewing the patrol footage apprentice J Lloyd, rider of 4th placegetter JACKPOT JAY, lodged a protest against 3rd past the post DISSOLUTION alleging interference near the 150 metres. After viewing the relevant footage and taking evidence from both parties, Stewards found that at a point near the 150 metres DISSOLUTION shifted out marginally and at the same point JACKPOT JAY shifted in marginally and both runners momentarily brushed and subsequently the protest was dismissed.

CAPTIVATOR – Near the 800 metres improved onto the heels of CERTAIN DOUBT and had to restrained before shifting out for a short distance.

DISSOLUTION – Raced three wide throughout without cover.

LUCKY JACKSON – Slow to begin.

Race 7: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Class 2 Plate 1200 metres

APOLLO PRINCE – Raced three wide with cover.

DARING BELLE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

ONE MORE PINOT – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor post-race recovery.

Race 8: ALCYONE HOTEL & RESIDENCE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1600 metres

On return to scale it was established that a piece of packing had been left off INDIAN DREAMER when the gelding was saddled resulting in rider R Fradd weighing in at 59kgs, that being within the parameters of the allowable 0.5kg allowance. Acting under the provisions of AR209(2)(a) Stewards declared correct weight. Co-trainers T Edmonds was fined the sum of $500 under AR106(1) for negligence in the saddling of INDIAN DREAMER.

DON'T DESPAIR – Checked near the 1500 metres. B Stewart, rider of KEEP ON LOVING YOU, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1500 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DON’T DESPAIR which struck the heels of KEEP ON LOVING YOU and blundered. The license of B Stewart to ride in races was suspended for a period of days to commence midnight 24th December up to and including midnight 10th January 2021. Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.

SAWTELL – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Checked near the 350 metres. B Thompson, rider of DON’T DESPAIR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under 131(a) in that near the 350 metres he permitted his mount to shift out under riding resulting in SAWTELL being checked between DON’T DESPAIR and INDIAN DREAMER. In issuing the charge Stewards did acknowledge a marginal shift in from INDIAN DREAMER at that point of the race. The license of B Thompson to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 24th December up to and including midnight 31st December 2020.

BLACKBOOTS – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to obtain the lead near the 1000 metres.
