GENERAL Due to recent QLD Government Covid restrictions which limited jockey access to spas and saunas, Stewards permitted the following weight variances; Race 2 – FAIRY ME HOME (NZ) – J McDonald +0.5kg (now 56kg) Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 2YO MDN PLT – 1200m DUYFKEN – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with MAJESTICS REQUEST. HATS – Bumped heavily on jumping by MAJESTICS REQUEST who was taken out by DUYFKEN. MAJESTICS REQUEST – Contacted and taken wider by DUYFKEN on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (3). Race 2: HELLBENT FIRST CROP AT MAGIC MILLIONS BM78 HCP – 1600m MOUNT TABORA (USA) – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey A Mallyon could offer no tangible excuse for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. PRINNY'S SUCCESS – Slow to begin. ROTHABYE – Jumped awkwardly. Race 3: SKY RACING BM70 HCP 70 – 1000m HIGH COST – Held up and became awkwardly placed on the heels of MISHANI REBEL over the concluding stages. DEFENCE MISSILE – Had to be eased near the 200m, when SPINNING SPIRIT shifted out to improve. CLEVER MISS – Raced wide throughout. SPINNING SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly and was slow as a result. TOUJOURS L'AMOUR – Shifted in on jumping. Race 4: CASCADE QTIS 3YO BM70 HCP – 1400m RUDDOCK – Rider J McDonald reported that his mount did not appreciate the firm surface today and as a result, failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken for analysis. BOOM SPENDER – Jumped awkwardly. TREASURE OF GOLD – Slow to begin. SIP IT SLOW – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Kendrick undertook to report back to Stewards on the condition of SIP IT SLOW in the days subsequent. Race 5: XXXX DRY MDN HCP – 1400m COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Over the concluding stages, shifted out under pressure and made contact with EVITA LA VIE. GREEN PROTECTOR - Approaching the 100m, shifted in and made contact with KUNGFLU. KUNGFLU – Contacted at the 100m when COME IN SPINNER (NZ) shifted in. A BIG CHANCE – Had difficulty obtaining a clear run until approaching the 200m. MISS HUSTLE – Overraced in the early stages. NOT TOO HARD (NZ) – In the vicinity of the 200m, laid in under pressure and became awkwardly placed on the heels of CREDIBLE and shifted out to improve. EVITA LA VIE – Contacted over the concluding stages by COME IN SPINNER (NZ) which shifted out under pressure. RED RUBI – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey S Thornton reported that she felt RED RUBI had jarred up on the track which may have attributed to the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SEMIFOX – Taken wider in the vicinity of the 200m, when NOT TOO HARD (NZ) shifted out to improve. LEICABLE – Restrained at the start to obtain a position closer to the rails. Race 6: MOUNT FRANKLIN C3 HCP - 1400m MITTA MARY – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey S Cormack reported that his mount failed to handle the firm track. He added that MITTA MARY travelled well throughout, however, failed to respond when asked for an effort and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be coughing and also displaying signs of the thumps. ROYAL SHEEN – Held up in the early part of the home straight. LOT'S WIFE – Approaching the 200m, when weakening, had to be steadied off the heels of RED BLOOM who shifted in. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey R Fradd reported that his mount failed to handle the firm track. He added that LOT’S WIFE travelled well throughout, however, failed to respond when asked for an effort and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be striding slightly short in the off fore. RED BLOOM – Held up for clear running until approaching the 250m. Race 7: BRC GIDDY UP CLUB C5 HCP - 1200m CAPTIVATOR – Raced wide throughout. ADORADANCER – Hampered approaching the winning post when KING OF THE DESERT shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore and near hind. Trainer B Lockwood was advised that ADORADANCER would require a veterinary certificate prior to the mare starting or trialling again. RABBIT HUNTER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a tendon injury to the near hind. Trainer K Purdy was advised that RABBIT HUNTER would require a veterinary certificate prior to starting or trialling again. PERFECT AIM – Overraced in the early stages and continued to overrace in the middle stages and near the 700m, had to be restrained from the heels of BIG ARJAY. Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS C1 PLT – 1200m PADDLEPOP – Reared on jumping. WOLF MOON – Buffeted on jumping. Rider R Maloney was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted under the rule. GAELIC PUZZLE – Jockey M Rodd reported that GAELIC PUZZLE didn’t handle the firm surface today and when GAELIC PUZZLE failed to respond to his urgings in the home straight, he elected not to place his mount under any more pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. GEORGIE'S PRIDE – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer D Forster stated that GEORGIE’S PRIDE had been spelled since its last run and had since trialled well at Deagon. She further added the horse was ridden more positively today and she was expectant of a good performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
