GENERAL
 
As M Zahra was not riding at the meeting due to interstate Covid restrictions and J Huxtable was ill, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.
 
Race 1: OSCAR OSCAR SALONS Class 6 Plate 1400 metres
 
STARVIRGO – Laid in in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LUVOIR – Steadied from the heels of MAGIC CONQUEROR near the 1300 metres.
 
PROFIT – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAFADO – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to obtain a rearward position closer to the rail.
 
FASHCHANEL (NZ) – When asked to comment on the performance rider J Kah stated mare over-raced and refused to settle during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MAOZI – Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 1100 metres restrained from the heels of GRAND PIANO.
 
 
Race 2: LED SUPER SCREENS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1200 metres
 
SNITCH – Held up and unable to secure clear running over the final 200 metres. Near the 100 metres bumped EURO BELLE on a number of occasions.
 
PRIORITISE – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer S Tregea was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
LOVE STRUCK – Momentarily crowded for room near the 200 metres between BEACHBREAK, which shifted out and away from SUPERMUM, and KORDIA which was crowded when WESTLINK laid in slightly.
 
KORDIA – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
EURO BELLE – Buffeted between runners on jumping away. Bumped with SNITCH on a number of occasions near the 100 metres.
 
BEACHBREAK – Checked near the 1000 metres when LOVE STRUCK shifted in when not fully clear. G Boss, rider of LOVE STRUCK, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in near the 1000 metres resulting in BEACHBREAK having to be checked and lose its rightful running. The licence of G Boss to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 5th June up to and including midnight 13th June 2021.
 
 
Race 3: MULLINS LAWYERS FRED BEST CLASSIC 1400 metres
 
AIM – Began awkwardly.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Near the 1000 metres commenced to over-race and got its head up when MIDLAND shifted in when not fully clear. B Avdulla, rider of MIDLAND, was advised to exercise greater care.  Continued to over-race until near the 600 metres. Inclined to lay inwards in the home straight.
 
MIDLAND – Near the 1000 metres had to be steadied from the heels of NOT AN OPTION.
 
EXOBOOM – Near the 100 metres steadied from the heels of SIMPLY FLY which got its head up and lost ground when being restrained.
 
AYRTON (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
PALLADAS – Shifted outwards near the 200 metres to obtain clear running.
 
GLITTER STRIP – Slow to begin. Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: SKY RACING LORD MAYOR'S CUP 1800 metres
 
QUICK THINKER – Dipped on jumping. Raced three wide in the early stages of the event.
 
TIPTRONIC (NZ) – Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from atrial fibrillation. Connections were advised TRIPTONIC would require a veterinary clearance including the results of a satisfactory ECG test prior to its next race start.
 
HANG MAN (IRE) – Slow to begin.
 
SHOP TIL I DROP (NZ) – Had a tendency to lay in when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running between the 400 metres and the 100 metres.
 
 
Race 5: BRISBANE FOR 2032 PREMIER'S CUP 2400 metres
 
PATHS OF GLORY (GB) – Crowded on jumping between BRIHAM ROCKS which jumped out and SPIRIT RIDGE which jumped in.
 
LORD BELVEDERE (GB) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Approaching the 200 metres crowded for room between PATHS OF GLORY which shifted in marginally and SPIRIT RIDGE which laid out under pressure.
 
ROMAKASH (NZ) – Left a rearward trailing position near the 1300 metres and progressed forward to race outside the leader near the 900 metres. When asked to comment on tactics adopted rider L Cassidy explained the gelding had been ridden in a similar fashion at its most recent starts and when the pace eased near the 1400 metres he elected to ride forward. Stable representative for M Kropp indicated it was the stable’s intention to continue with its current preparation. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
 
Race 6: JAMES SQUIRE BRC SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES 1400 metres
 
SUBTERRANEAN – Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
CONVERGE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300 metres.
 
PRINCE OF BOOM – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slightly elevated heart rate.
 
BABY WONG – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
TIGER OF MALAY – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
RANCH HAND – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
TIGER HEART – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
PORT LOUIS – Slow to begin.
 
DARK REBEL – Raced four wide with cover for the majority of the event. Hung out badly in the home straight. Rider J Kah reported the colt had got its tongue over the bit in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer E Cummings was advised DARK REBEL must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
GIANNIS – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
INVISIBLE TERARS – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: MOËT & CHANDON QUEENSLAND DERBY 2400 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when TOSCANINI required farriery attention at the barriers. Subsequently examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
EXPLOSIVE JACK (NZ) – Held up for a short distance passing the 500 metres.
 
LET'S KARAKA DEEL (NZ) – Rider B Allen reported the colt to be short striding in front following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be suffering from heat stress.
 
ACHIEVER – Laid out in the early stages of the home straight.
 
TOSCANINI – On arrival at the barriers the near fore plate was refitted. Near the 2000 metres when over-racing shifted out bumped HORRIFYING.
 
CRIMINAL DEFENCE – Raced three wide from the 800 metres
 
BUCHAREST – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
SENOR TOBA – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event.
 
HEZASHOCKA (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 2000 metres obliged to steady from the heels of HORRIFYING and shifted out.
 
QUIET MICHAEL (NZ) – Lost near fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the inside of the near foreleg.
 
 
 
Race 8: TAB KINGSFORD-SMITH CUP 1300 metres
 
TREKKING – Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
GYTRASH – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Checked at 300 metres when SAVATOXL shifted out. B Vorster, rider of SAVATOXL, pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out near the 300 metres resulting in GYTRASH having to be checked. The licence of B Vorster to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 29th May up to and including midnight 8th June 2021. Steadied when racing in restricted room over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Connections were advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
SAVATOXL – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 300 metres when JONKER rolled out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding slightly in the near foreleg.
 
NICCANOVA – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
VEGA ONE – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and the 100 metres.
 
JONKER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIGNORE FOX – Began awkwardly.
 
BLAZEJOWSKI – Slow to begin.
 
SAVATIANO – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Connections were advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
OUTBACK BARBIE – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
DAME GISELLE – Near the 1000 metres inconvenienced when JONKER laid out.
 
 
Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS HELEN COUGHLAN STAKES 1200 metres
 
SWEET DEAL – Jumped in abruptly at the start. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
EXHILARATES – Raced four wide with cover throughout.
 
THREEOOD – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
IN GOOD TIME – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BLAZING MISS – Began awkwardly.
 
LYRE – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
SOCIALISING – Checked at the start when SWEET DEAL jumped in abruptly.
