GENERAL
Due to Queensland Government Covid restrictions which limited jockey access to spas and saunas, Stewards permitted the following jockeys to ride +1/2kg on their respective mounts:
 
R3 – M Hellyer – KIPPAX – 54.5kg
R3 – S Tomlinson – GAELIC – only claiming 1.5kg of his allowance
R4 – R Maloney – WEONA KARIOI – 55.5kg
R5 – R Maloney – COMMENTS – 55.5kg
R5 – M Hellyer – EAST ESPLANDE – 54.5kg
R7- M Wishart – STELLAR – only claiming 1.5kg of her allowance
R7 – M Hellyer – SANDY TOES – 54.5kg

Race 1: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
JUMBO GOAL – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
RELEASE THE BEANS – Shifted in near the 800m.
 
ROCKIN' ARTIE – Began awkwardly. Over raced early, then steadied from the heels of RELEASE THE BEANS near the 800m which shifted in.
 
CRYMENOTEARS – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
STARHATTAN – Began awkwardly, shortly thereafter tightened between runners before settling in a rearward position.
 
Race 2: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
KIANDRA GOLD (NZ) – Tightened between runners on jumping and settled in a rearward position. Over the final stages of the home straight shifted out under pressure.
 
COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Bounded on jumping.
 
IRON SAINT – Bounded on jumping. Over raced early, then steadied from the heels of NEARBY passing the 800m. Near the 450m when held up, raced in restricted room, and bumped NEARBY.
 
FINNICKY – Raced four wide throughout.
 
BASIL JUNIOR – Began awkwardly shifted out, shortly thereafter steadied from the heels of THE POWER OF ONE which shifted out. Raced three wide throughout with cover.
A post-race veterinary examination of BASIL JUNIOR identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. BASIL JUNIOR shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised, or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000m in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)
 
NEARBY – Began awkwardly shifted in. Near the 450m bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.
 
BOHEMIAN BOOM – Raced three wide throughout. Inclined to lay in, in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of BOHEMIAN BOOM identified a slower than expected recovery from racing.
 
SCOTTISH PRINCE – Over raced early.
 
LITTLE BOSS – Raced three wide throughout with cover.
 
Race 3: ALCYONE HOTEL & RESIDENCES BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 2212 metres
 
TAKEITTOTHELIMIT – Steadied from the heels of TOTAL RECALL when passing the winning post, the first time then restrained to the rear.
 
WATCH THE CAT – Slow to begin. Passing the winning post, the first time raced in restricted room between TOP ORDER and TAKEITTOTHELIMIT who was carried in by TOTAL RECALL, and shortly thereafter raced ungenerously, shifted in and bumped TOP ORDER. Jockey B El-Issa was found guilty pursuant to AR131(a) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion he shifted in when not sufficiently clear of TAKEITTOTHELIMIT causing it to be restrained to avoid the heels of TOTAL RECALL and taken inwards and onto WATCH THE CAT and TOP ORDER causing both runners to be severely tightened. Over raced passing the 1600m.
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING (NZ) – Change of tactics to be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly. Jockey S Collett was fined reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to 100m, one more than permitted.
 
TOP ORDER – Near the 1900m bumped by WATCH THE CAT when it raced ungenerously and became unbalanced.
 
GAELIC – Change of tactics to be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly.
 
KIPPAX – Passing the 200m, when weakening steading for the heels of TOTAL RECALL which rolled in slightly.
 
Race 4: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
APPLICATIONS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
ARCARIUS (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Raced keenly leaving the 900m.
 
CUE TO CONQUER – Raced four wide throughout.
 
HIGH HANDED – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
JENO – Raced three wide throughout.
 
THE CROW MAN – Began awkwardly, shifted out, bumping with UNDER ORDERS.
 
UNDER ORDERS – Bumped on jumping, then tightened between runners and lost ground. Raced keenly between the 900m and 800m.
 
CHICAMO – Bumped on jumping.
 
WEONA KARIOI – Blundered on jumping, shifted in. WEONA KARIOI was carried wider over the final 100m when APPLICATIONS (NZ) laid out under pressure. Jockey R Maloney was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race at all times. When asked to comment on the fillies performance after beginning poorly it never felt comfortable in running and proved disappointing when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MARRIED TO THE MOB – Race three wide throughout.
 
DYNAMIC DUO – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
CUPID'S BOW (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
NEXT DIMENSION (NZ) – Jockey B Thompson report that he anticipated settling in a handy position, but when the gelding didn’t muster, he was forced to settle further back then anticipated. Jockey B Thompson then added when placed under pressured in the home straight the gelding failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination of NEXT DIMENSION (NZ) identified that the gelding was coughing and exhibiting a poor post-race recovery. Trainer K Fogden was advised that NEXT DIMENSION (NZ) would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next trial or race start.
 
TITRATION – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
APPLECROSS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
COMMENTS – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
REAL EMPRESS – Change of tactics to be ridden back with cover. Ridden accordingly.
 
EAST ESPLANADE – Due to Illness Stewards approved rider S Bogenhuber to be replaced with rider M Hellyer.
 
 
Race 6: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1000 metres
 
SHADOW OF TIME – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
HARD YAGA – Bumped shortly after the start with MODELKA. Over raced early then raced three wide with cover.
 
GIN 'N' BITTERS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and qas subsequently swabbed.
 
PARKO – Race four wide for the majority.
 
BOINGO – Tightened between runners shortly after the start, restrained to a rearward position. Had some difficulty obtaining a clear run near the 200m.
 
SPIRIT HOUSE – Approaching the home turn commenced to race keenly and steadied from the heels of GIN 'N' BITTERS before shifting wider to secure clear running.
 
MODELKA – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
DIVULGE – Began awkwardly shift in bumped heavily with MISTRESS OF DOOM.
 
WONDERFUL DAY (NZ) – Change of tactics to be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly. Over raced early staged.
 
EVITA LA VIE – Raced three wide cover throughout. Laid in, in the home straight.
 
MISTRESS OF DOOM – Began awkwardly, then shifted out bumping heavily with DIVULGE. Over raced in the early stages. Inside the final 100m steadied from the heels of AURON which laid out.
 
EARN OUT – Passing the 800m raced ungenerously and had to be steadied from the heels on DIVULGE. Jockey T Marshall reported that his mount put in an awkward stride near the 500m shifted in and bumped with GRENADIERS. Jockey T Marshall then desisted from pressuring his mount as it felt awkward in its action. A post-raceveterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
STELLAR – Raced three wide throughout.
 
GRENADIERS – Tightened on jumping, shortly thereafter steadying from the heels of FIORENTE STAR, which eased  away from MISTRESS OF DOOM which laid in and IMITARI which shifted out slightly. Bumped near the 500m.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Raced three wide throughout.
 
FIORENTE STAR – Shortly after the start steadied from IMITRI which shifted out slightly.
 
SANDY TOES – Due COVID restriction Stewards approved rider C Caserta to be replaced with rider M Hellyer.
 
AURON – Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
Race 8: MULLINS LAWYERS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres
 
BACCHUS – Slow to begin.
 
JETTY – Began awkwardly.
 
PRINNY'S SUCCESS – Over raced in the early stages.
 
PROUD ROC (NZ) – Tightened on jumping and bumped with PETUNIA. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
WESTHAM – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
JOCHBERG – Began awkwardly, then shifted out slightly. Lost the off-hind plate in running.
 
BUZZER BEATER – Raced three wide throughout.
 
MINJEE – Restrained from the wide barrier.
 
THUMBS UP – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
PETUNIA – Slow to begin, then tightened shortly thereafter and bumped with PROUD ROC (NZ).
