SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Trainer David Vandyke reported that ORBISYN has had an interrupted preparation and receiving ongoing veterinary treatment to a hind leg after showing sighs of lameness. Mr Vandyke advised that further veterinary examinations would be undertaken next week and he would report back to Stewards regarding the findings. GENERAL Due to Covid restrictions the following overweights were permitted. Race 3 - OUR FRAULEIN – Larry Cassidy 54.5kgRace 5 - HE’S THE DEEL – Larry Cassidy 54.5kgRace 8 - AMERICANA MAGIC – Andrew Mallyon 56kgRace 9 - INDERNILE – Nathan Day 54.5kg Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Handicap 1000 metres Glorious Ruby – Fractious in the barriers. Secret Tales – Bumped on jumping. Jockey S Thornton commented that in her opinion the filly may appreciate distances further than that of today’s event. She's Heavenly – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Snowdrop – Raced ungenerously early, then veered out sharply near the 800m. Disappointed for a run approaching the finishing line when SHE’S HEAVEN rolled in. Jockey G Cartwright was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Handicap 1000 metres Legal Esprit – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the final 200m and laid out. Mishani Sniper – Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn was bumped on the hind quarters by THE KEWESS which attempted to shift out to improve. The Kewess – Began awkwardly. Near the 700m shifted out, raced ungenerously before steading from the heels of LEGAL SPIRIT and continued to race ungenerously for some distance. Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN Class 3 Handicap 1500 metres Indian Dreamer – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300m. Mosshiki – Slow to begin. Daulat Tai Panaziz – Laid in throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Calmyourfarm – Slow to begin. Jockey R Palmer pleaded guilty pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted and was fined $400.00 Biggie – Raced three wide throughout. Race 4: COUNTRY MUSIC WEEKEND 10- 11 SEPTEMBER OPEN Handicap 1600 metres Dissolution – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Matowi (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over raced early when attempting to restrain for cover. Profit – Carried outwards on jumping. Prometheus – Carried inwards on jumping. Prioritise – Checked between runners on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Plitvice - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Race 5: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2400 metres Warp Speed – When asked to comment regarding the tactics adopted Jockey R Fradd stated that after beginning well he was unable to find forward cover when both ONE FOR BETTY and PUCKISH improved to his inside which then obliged him to settle near the rear. Jockey Fradd also added that he was mindful not to place added pressure on his mount in the early stages as it can over race. He further stated that after improving from the 600m the gelding failed to run on as expected and proved disappointing. Jockey Fradd reported post-race that his mount felt awkward in its action and a subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in its off fore. Trainer R Heathcote was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to WARP SPEED resuming. Art Attack – Raced three wide throughout. He's the Deel- As L Cassidy was unable to fulfil his engagement, he was replaced with G Cartwright. Stewards noted the explanation tendered by Jockey Cassidy. Race 6: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres Genzai The Wolf – Raced keenly early. Jetski – Slow to begin. Lady Banff – Performed below expectations.When asked to comment on LADY BANFF’S performance Jockey B Nothdurft stated that after working hard to find its position it travelled well but failed to let down as expected in the straight and was disappointing. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Lashoni – Began awkwardly. Jockey G Cartwright pleaded guilty pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted and was fined $300.00 Cubix – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority. Scottish Mist – Slow to begin. Race 7: SPIRIT OF BOOM BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1825 metres Spanish Point (GB) – Raced wide early until finding he position outside the leader near the 1400m. Eased down near the 100m. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. I Could Do Better (IRE) – Over raced early. Top Me Up Again (NZ) – Trainer advised that it would be ridden further forward. Ridden accordingly. Eased down near the 300m. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer B Smith was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. Sokudo – Slow to begin. Eelloh – Restrained to a rearward position from the wide barrier. When asked to comment regarding the mare’s performance Jockey J Byrne stated that after improving near the 600m EELLOH failed to run on as expected and proved disappointing. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Divine Eleven – Pulled hard early. Race 8: MARK MAZZAGLIA BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1200 metres Brad – Apprentice A Patis reported that her mount failed to let down as expected in the straight. Sea Raider – Raced three wide throughout. Laid in in the home straight. Valario – Carried wider passing the 800m when AMERICANA MAGIC shifted out. Inclined to lay in in the straight. Americana Magic – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m steadied from the heels of BRAD and shifted out. Race 9: TAB VENUE MODE Class 6 Handicap 1400 metres Stuttering – Checked near the 1200m. Kubrick – Restrained from the wide barrier to a rearward position. Take Tea – Laid in in the straight. Ghostly – Checked near the 1200m. Toujours L'amour – Raced three wide early. Checked near the 1200m. General – After taking initial evidence from riders regarding an incident at the 1200 metres an adjournment was sought by Apprentice K Cowan to have her master Mr Pat Duff present. Stewards after considering the request adjourned the enquiry until Wednesday 18/8/21.
