Race 1: CHRISTMAS TWILIGHT RACEDAY DECEMBER QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1600 metres
BIG MUSKIE – Raced three wide in the early stages. Prior to correct weight, jockey S. Thornton lodged an objection against SUTTO’S GAL being declared the winner for alleged interference over the final 200m. Stewards considered the protest of jockey S. Thornton, rider of the 2nd placegetter BIG MUSKIE against the winner SUTTO’S GAL (R. Stewart) over the final 200m. After taking evidence from all parties, and viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage, it was established that passing the 200m BIG MUSKIE shifted out of its own accord away from SUTTO’S GAL. SUTTO’S GAL continued to shift out slightly under pressure resulting in SUTTO’S GAL and BIG MUSKIE racing tightly over the final 100m. After considering this minor inconvenience and the manner in which the horses raced over the final stages and finished the race off, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers.
SUTTO’S GAL – Bumped on jumping with KISS MY MILLO.
MISHANI DREAMER – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced by KISS MY MILLO, which shifted in after being bumped.
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 2131 metres

Cahill was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100m, two (2) more than permitted. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account jockey M. Cahill’s good record in relation to this rule.
UNIQUE JOURNEY – Slow to begin.
AMBITIOUS PRINCE – Rider J. Bayliss was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight (8) occasions prior to the 100m, three (3) more than permitted. In determining penalty, Stewards noted that this was jockey Bayliss’s sixth (6) offence under this rule.
Race 3: MOËT & CHANDON 2YO Handicap (QTISx bonus applicable) 1200 metres

BRAVE WARRIOR – When questioned, apprentice J. Lloyd stated that he was instructed to obtain cover today and found himself further back than expected.
GAVE US UP – Disappointed for a run shortly after passing the 200m and then was taken inwards to obtain clear running.
Race 6: PADUA COLLEGE Open 1825 metres
PRIORITISE – Pulled extremely hard in the early stages. When apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was questioned about his tactics, he explained that when he was caught wide in the early stages, he elected to stride forward and when it got to the lead, commenced to pull very hard and as a result proved difficult to settle. Despite K. Wilson-Taylor’s attempts, the gelding proved difficult to control and also wanted to hang in considerably. Compounded in the home straight.
