QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB EAGLE FARM – TUESDAY 02 NOVEMBER 2021 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Good (4) RAIL – + 12 Entire PENETROMETER – 5.48 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Smith, P. Cousins Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1500 metres BUMP’N’RUN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight. CABOCHE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. DAMIANI – Crowded on jumping when CABOCHE jumped outwards. Held up and unable to improve when making the turn into the home straight. LEAGLESE – Bumped on jumping. SWEAR ON A PROMISE – Began awkwardly making contact with LEAGLESE. Race 2: ASCOT GREEN Maiden Handicap 1600 metres LOVE DEMON – When questioned regarding the poor performance Apprentice J. Lloyd advised that after traveling fairly initially the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. ENTERPRISE MIA – Raced keenly during the middle stages. THE VIRUS – Prior to the event, trainer R. Heathcote advised that it was his intention to have the gelding ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. When making the turn into the home straight improved onto the heels of I AM WINKLES and as a result had to be steadied on a number of occasions. Momentarily held up for clear running at the 400m. HERTZKA – Began awkwardly making contact with HENRY REEF. HENRY REEF – Slow to begin after being bumped heavily by HERTZKA. Race 3: IMPRESSU PRINT GROUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 2237 metres BOMBAY NIGHTS – Began awkwardly making contact with KHAALIS. KHAALIS (IRE) – Bumped by BOMBAY NIGHTS on jumping. LINCOLN TOWN – Was forced to momentarily steady when racing in restricted room near the 2100m. Race 4: BERNBOROUGH ASCOT Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres TITANIUM – Slow to begin when inconvenienced by DREAM CHANCE and thereafter showed no early speed. VIRTUOUS MISS – Inclined to lay in at the 600m whilst racing to the inside of DUBLIN DE QUO. Hung out in the early part of the home straight. Then was inclined to lay out when placed under pressure over the final 100m. DRIZZLE – Raced tight for a short distance near the 200m. DREAM CHANCE– Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room from the 800m to the 600m between FETCH and VIRTUOUS MISS. Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres BLACKLOG (NZ) – Bumped by MADAME MO at the 300m. THINK HIGH – Declared a late scratching at 8:27am by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. CAIRNDOW – Inclined to over race in the early stages. Raced three wide without cover throughout. WINSTON BLUE - Slow to begin. MADAME MO – Made contact with BLACKLOG at the 300m when being taken outwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Race 6: CANADIAN CLUB BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Slow to begin. VALIANT – Near the 500m became unbalanced after brushing the running rail. Following the running of the race Trainer S Wise approached the Stewards and advised that he had given instructions for VALIANT. to be ridden in a forward position with a view of possibly leading. When questioned, Jockey A Mallyon stated that after jumping away only fairly, he would have had to pressure his horse to obtain a forward position after being caught wide early and as such elected to obtain a position with cover closer to the fence. SOUBRETTE - Slow to begin. Steadied form the heels of VALIANT near the 1000m. PERFECT AIM – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: LEXUS SPRING CUP OPEN QUALITY Handicap 1000 metres KISUKANO - Began awkwardly making contact with the hind quarters of KYLEASE and as a result was slow into stride. LE PALMIER – When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance Jockey R. Maloney advised that whilst leading it did have to work hard early and commence to compound over the last 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of a poor race recovery and coughing. Trainer T Gollan was advised a veterinary clearance with the results of a scope be provided before LE PALMIER racing or trialling again. KYLEASE – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping. Race 8: MAKERS MARK BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres MOONAN ME – Raced three wide without cover throughout. NORDIC SHOW Nordic – When rounding the turn into the home straight, raced in restricted room when racing tight to the inside of FIREBOX.
