Race 1: ANZ BLOODSTOCK NEWS THE ROSES 2100 metres
GIN MARTINI (NZ) – Over the concluding stages, had to be eased when tightened between BELLE SAVOIR and BARB RAIDER who shifted in under pressure. Rider C. Williams advised to take more care under such circumstances.
STALKING – Laid inwards in the home straight.
CHILKO LAKE – Approaching the 400m bumped with BARB RAIDER.
CHANDON BURJ – Raced wide and ungenerously in the early stages.
VELVET LADY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
ROYAL BALLET – Pulled hard in the early stages.
Race 2: LIVING TURF PREMIER'S CUP 2400 metres
STEEL PRINCE (IRE) – Veered out sharply in the straight first time, dislodging its rider, and collapsing towards the outside of the track. On examination by the veterinary surgeon, it was found that the gelding had displayed the presence of blood at both nostrils and failed to display a heartbeat, and was euthanased on humane grounds. Swab samples were taken for analysis.
FLASH AAH – Raced three wide in the early stages.
SPLENDIFEROUS – Raced three wide for a short distance during the middle stages.
SWEET THOMAS (GER) – Held up for clear running between the 450m and the 100m.
SOPRANO SUPREME (NZ) – Slow to begin.
Race 3: SKY RACING LORD MAYOR'S CUP 1800 metres
KOLDING (NZ) – Had to be taken outwards across the heels of HUNGRY HEART to obtain clear running. Thereafter, was obliged to lay inwards for the remainder of the race.
HUNGRY HEART – Rider W. Pike reported to Stewards that he could offer no tangible explanation for the performance, however after being well settled in a more forward position than usual.
DJUKON (GB) – Laid inwards in the straight.
STAR OF MICHELIN – Stood flat footed and was slow to begin.
Race 4: XXXX SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES 1400 metres
TWIN STARS – Buffeted on jumping between MERCHANT PRINCE and CAPITAL TOWER.
BRERETON – Raced three wide with cover.
COCOBREW EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout.
VICTORY MOMENTS – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with COCOBREW EXPRESS. Laid inwards over the final 200m.
SHEEZA BELTER – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Laid inwards over the concluding stages.
TYRESA – Jockey L. Cassidy was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
Race 5: XXXX DOOMBEN CUP 2100 metres
ZAAKI (GB) – Jockey J. Macdonald commented that the gelding travelled well and ran strongly into the straight, however failed to quicken and was beaten on its merits. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken.
KUKERACHA (NZ) – Had a tendency to hang inwards in the straight and raced in restricted room approaching the 200m between POLLY GREY, which rolled out marginally, and ESTI FENY, which shifted in under pressure. Rider R. Maloney was advised to exercise more care under the circumstances.
MAXIMAL (GB) – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
ESTI FENY (HUN) – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
COVENTINA BAY (NZ) – Slow into stride.
Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS FRED BEST CLASSIC 1400 metres
ALPINE EDGE – Bumped and crowded and jumping by MYSTIC AROMA. Raced three wide with cover.
PRINCE OF BOOM – Momentarily held up when entering the home straight. Rider J. Orman commented that the gelding travelled well in running, however failed to let down in the straight and in his opinion possibly failed to run out a strong 1400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed soreness over the rump and the gelding was also exhibiting signs of lameness in both hindlimbs. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance before racing again.
FLYING CRAZY – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m.
MINSK MOMENT – Became awkwardly placed on the heels of VILANA at the 200m.
I AM LETHAL – Slow to begin.
BEND THE KNEE– Connections advised that they will endeavour to ride the colt more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
BATTLETON – Raced three wide with cover.
MERITABLE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
STARTANTES – Crowded on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
MOKULUA – Raced three wide with cover.
Race 7: TAB BRC SPRINT 1300 metres
ALLIGATOR BLOOD – Raced wide with cover. Laid in over the concluding stages.
EMERALD KINGDOM – Raced three wide with no cover.
DAWN PASSAGE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover.
DESERT LORD – Raced three wide with cover.
TYCOONIST – Raced three wide with cover. Held up for clear running between the 300m and 200m and then again between the 100m and 50m.
BLONDEAU – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
OSCAR ZULU – Crowded over the concluding stages.
GOSPODIN (NZ) – Raced four wide with cover.
VINCO – Began awkwardly.
IRISH SONGS – Jockey Rachel King replaced T. Berry as he was unable to make the allotted weight of 54kg. Jockey Berry was fined $200. Had to be eased when inconvenienced over the concluding stages.
Race 8: MOËT & CHANDON QUEENSLAND DERBY 2400 metres
DARK DESTROYER (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining a clear run between the 450m and the 200m.
CABOCHE (NZ) – Held up from the 500m to the 350m.
PINARELLO (NZ) – Raced three wide from the 1000m. Jockey L. Innes was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
RED WAVE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide with cover.
SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) – Raced wide with cover.
BALMAURICE – Raced three wide without cover.
SEA TREASURES (NZ) – Crowded on jumping and raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
SATIRICAL GLORY – Misstrode on turning into the straight.
GLOBAL AUSBRED – Jumped away awkwardly.
NEST EGG (NZ) – Crowded on jumping.
VILLADEN (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped on jumping.
Race 9: TAB KINGSFORD-SMITH CUP 1300 metres
Following the running of race 8, the track was upgraded to a Good (3).
PRIVATE EYE – Raced wide throughout.
LAWS OF INDICES (IRE) – Bumped with ENTRIVIERE on a number of occasions near the 800m. Raced wide throughout.
APACHE CHASE – Jockey J. Byrne was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
WILD PLANET –Slow to begin.
ROTHFIRE – Jockey J. Orman was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m.
ENTRIVIERE (NZ) – Slow into stride. Bumped with LAW OF INDICES on a number of occasions near the 800m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
PAULELE – Jockey J. Macdonald was fined $1000 pursuant to AR132(5) for using his whip on 16 occasions in totality.
ISOTOPE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 800m.
Race 10: MAGIC MILLIONS HELEN COUGHLAN STAKES 1200 metres
WRITTEN BEAUTY – Inconvenienced and checked near the 150m.
KISUKANO – Near the 200m improved onto heels and was steadied before shifting to the inside to secure clear running.
MAJESTIC SHOT – Bumped with APRIL RAIN shortly after the start. Inconvenienced and checked near the 150m.
APRIL RAIN – Bumped with MAJESTIC SHOT shortly after the start.
JUAN DIVA – Raced three wide without cover.
STARLA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight before improving onto heels near the 100m. A short distance later, was bumped heavily and checked across heels and as a result lost ground.
STOLEN JADE – Rider J. Parr replaced with K. Wilson-Taylor after jockey Parr took ill. Inconvenienced and checked near the 150m.
NAJMATY – Stewards inquired into an incident near the 150m whereby jockey T. Berry allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear causing interference to a number of runners. Subsequently jockey T. Berry was found guilty of a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 150m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in resulting in MAJESTIC SHOT, WRITTEN BEAUTY, ELOQUENTLY, STOLEN JADE and STARLA all being carried in, bumped and checked to varying degrees. Jockey T. Berry was suspended for 14 days from midnight the 4th June 2022 through to midnight the 18th June 2022. Jockey Berry was advised of his right to internal review.
ELOQUENTLY – Raced four wide without cover. Inconvenienced and checked near the 150m.
