QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BRISBANE RACING CLUB EAGLE FARM WEDNESDAY 29 JUNE 2022 WEATHER – Overcast/Showers TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – + 10 metresPENETROMETER – 5.9 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J. Lister GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweight; Race 5: HARD OFFER – L. Cassidy 54kg + 0.5kg Race 8: ZUMIKON was declared a late scratching at 7:39 am. Trainer L. Gough was fined $100 pursuant to LR 36(6) for failing to scratched by the prescribed time. Stewards accepted the reasons for the late declaration of riders of Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos runners engaged in Races 1 and 3. Prior the commencement of the first race an on-course patron took ill and required attendance form the on-course ambulance officials. As a result of this delay the first race was rescheduled to start at 12:12pm. Race 1: FAMILY RACEDAY ON SALE NOW Maiden Handicap 1000 metres MISTA OMEGA – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Obliged to alter course in the early stages of the home straight to secure clear running. TONKA WAKAN – Jumped awkwardly.TERSANE (NZ) – Bumped at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled both nostrils. Trainer B. Lockwood was advised the gelding shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised, or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4) THE BURGER – Raced wide. BANDIT – Steadied from the heels of TONKA WAKAN approaching the 700m. DUNDAS – Slow to begin and was then bumped by SUPER SHARES shortly after the start and lost ground. Cast its near fore plate during the event. SUPER SHARES – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped DUNDAS. STAR OF MILAN – Jumped awkwardly. Race 2: XXXX DRY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes owing to the delayed start time of the previous event. COOL KAAP – Slow to begin. OCEAN RIDGE – Jumped awkwardly. BOKUDEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Rider J. Bryne advised stewards that the colt commenced to hang out from the 800m. BOOM RAPTURE – Jumped awkwardly. RUSSIAN QUEEN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Raced greenly under pressure approaching the 100m requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten the filly. Race 3: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres THE START OF THIS EVENT WAS DELAYED approximately 2 minutes due to MISS MERCEDEZ dislodging its rider on route to the barriers and subsequently being declared a late scratching at 1:06pm with the following deductions to apply on declaration of correct weight: 1st 0 cents the win 1 cents the place2nd 1 cents the place3rd 2 cents the place Apprentice S. Tomlinson was assessed by the QAS officials, and the club doctor and was suspected of having sustained an injury to his left collar bone and was stood down for the remainder of the meeting. Stewards interviewed Apprentice Tomlinson regarding the incident, and he advise them that the filly shied approaching the 1800m crossing resulting in his saddle shifting causing him to be dislodged. Stewards took no further action other than to advise apprentice Tomlinson he would require a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again. EXECUTIVE STRESS – Shifted out at the start and bumped ELLOWS HALL. A short distance later bumped with BULIKOV which shifted out. BULIKOV – Shifted out a short distance after the start and bumped EXECUTIVE STRESS. Bumped by NORTHERN PRIDE approaching the winning post. LAMMER (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly. NORTHERN PRIDE – Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post and bumped BULIKOV. HYDE – Bumped at the start. ELLOWS HALL – Hampered at the start and lost ground when bumped between EXECUTIVE STRESS, which shifted out and HYDE. Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m. IDONEUS – Jumped awkwardly. Race 4: MEKKA RACES ON SALE NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin. MERSEYSIDE – When asked to comment on the performance of the filly, apprentice J. Lloyd advised stewards that he was disappointed in the performance of the filly and noted the filly had not performed well at two previous starts at this venue. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co -Trainer M. Hoysted advised stewards that the filly would be now likely be sent for a spell. VALLEY RATTLER – Steadied from the heels of MOST DAZZLING when the pace slackened approaching the 1000m. RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Fractious before the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant laceration to the off-hind leg. Trainer T. Thomas was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly being permitted to start again. Race 5: SKY RACING Maiden Handicap 1400 metres LANDSBOROUGH LAD – Hung out rounding the home turn and again hung out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging. Mr Vandyke informed stewards that it would be the intention to ride the gelding more conservatively in future starts. PRIMAL LOCKDOWN – Raced wide in the early stages. Forced wider rounding the home turn and was again force wider approaching the 200m. ARCHITECTION (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Rider N. Callow advised stewards that gelding raced field shy in the early stages resulting it trailing the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer C. Meagher was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding completing an official trial before being permitted to race again CHASING JACKLEY – Slow to begin. Race three wide without cover throughout. HIGHLAND EAGLE – Stewards granted permission for the gelding to race without the nose roll which was part of its advertised gear. Trainer D. Forster was fined $200 pursuant to AR 206 (3). Laid in approaching the 1200m. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FLYING ROTHE – Shifted in and contacted the running at the 500m when being steadied from heels. Inconvenienced and had to be steadied when disappointed for a run at the 300m. Had difficulty securing clear running over the concluding stages. OUT BACK BOOM – Held up rounding the home turn. STARTER – Jumped awkwardly. HARD OFFER - Jumped awkwardly. I AM WINKLES – Over-raced when being restrained to a position with cover at the 1100m. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Race 6: EUREKA STUD BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1000 metres INVINCIBLE LAD – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled both nostrils. Trainer D. Murphy was advised the gelding shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised, or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4) SUILVEN – Had difficulty securing clear running over the final 200m SHE'S CROWNED – Raced three wide with cover throughout. TIERRA DEL FUEGO – Slow to begin. ZUMIKON – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in and bumped GINGER ROCK. GINGER ROCK – Slow to begin. Bumped by ZUMIKON shortly after the start. MOONAN JOYCE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m. TELEGRAPH – Slow to begin. Race 7: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1500 metres SHADOW OF TIME – Raced three wide without cover throughout. SUPER GORGEOUS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after getting its leg up after being loaded into the barriers. The gelding was subsequently cleared to start. When questioned on the tactics adopted, Apprentice M. Kennedy advised that it had not been her intention to lead however after beginning well from the inside barrier she attempted to obtained cover but the gelding commence to race keenly and this resulted in her leading the event. Shifted wider rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Apprentice Kennedy was advised to make greater effort in keeping her mounts straight when under pressure. THE DARK (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Morrisey was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. AWE -Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 200m. RUBY'S LAD - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Morrisey was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. ZA CEIBAS (NZ) – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was not fully tested. Race 8: TAB VENUE MODE Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres Upon arrival at the barriers whilst being pulled up by its rider DIVINE ELEVEN collapsed. Upon veterinary examination DIVINE ELEVEN was showing clinical signs of atrial fibrillation. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:02pm with the following deductions to apply on declaration of correct weight: 1st 0 cents the win 0 cents the place2nd 3 cents the place3rd 3cents the place Stable representative H. Julius was advised that DEVINE ELEVEN would be barred from racing until such time that the results of dynamic testing, conducted at an equine veterinary hospital, involving an endoscopic and ultra-sonic examination results are be forwarded to stewards. Furthermore, a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward inclusive of a post gallop ECG examination would be required prior to completing two official trial inclusive to being permitted to race again. Ms Julius advised stewards it was the stables intention to retire the gelding. ACROBATIC – Laid in for the majority of the event. Trainer K. Schweida was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging. GO WANDJI – Slow to begin. BEAU IDEAL (GB) – Slow to begin. CAPRI OF TUFFY – Inconvenienced approaching the 300m when GO WANDJI shifted in. PRIDE OF PYINGERRA – Tightened for room and was obliged to steady approaching the 1000m when tightened for room between IN AWE OF ME and ACROBATIC which laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Race 9: CASCADE Class 2 Handicap 1800 metres SIR WILLIAM BRUCE (IRE) - Bumped with BIG ANGEL for a number of strides in the early stages of the home straight. BIG ANGEL – J. Orman reported that from the 800m he had shifted to the outside of SIR WILLIAM BRUCE and shortly after this SIR WILLIAM BRUCE shifted away from the rail resulting in his mount being awkwardly place at the heels of PAINTED BLACK and he was unable to improve until nearing the 300m. He also added that for a short distance near the 150m he was again awkwardly place between runners and was inconvenienced. LATELY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Forced wider approaching the 700m when BIG ANGEL shifted out to improve. FINSCEAL – Slow to begin. PAINTED BLACK – When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance Trainer C. Zintillis advised stewards that at its last start the gelding received significant interference at the start and this contributed to the disappointing performance and added in his opinion the gelding also did not handle the tight turning Gatton track. Mr Zintillis advised that he had expected a forward showing in todays event as the gelding was backing up quickly from last start and that PAINTED BLACK had performed well when backing up quickly in the past.
