GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-

Race 3 - S. Collett +1/2kg
Race 4 - M. Cahill +1/2kg
Race 5 - M. Cahill +1/2kg
 
Trainer M. Kropp was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for AL PAL’S GAL, engaged in race 5, by the prescribed time.
 
Rider R. Maloney was reprimanded pursuant to LR 48 for failing to seek the permission of stewards before leaving the racecourse.
 
Race 1: XXXX DRY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1500 metres
 
MISHANI PERSUASION – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIKE A LARK - Bumped at the start.
 
WYATT RIVER – Cast its near fore plate prior to entering the saddling enclosure requiring the gelding to be re-plated.
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 1000 metres
 
EF TROOP – Upon return to scale it was noted the gelding had shifted its near fore plate.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Slow to begin.
 
ICE IN VANCOUVER – Awkwardly placed at heels over the final 50m. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, apprentice A. Jones stated that ICE IN VANCOUVER travelled well however did not respond as expected when placed under pressure in the home straight and may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
 
SHAMROCK LU – Held up for clear running approaching the 350m. Shifted out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
 
Race 3: GRANT BURGE WINE DINNER 31 AUGUST BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 2200 metres
 
FAST TALKING – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor advised the stewards FAST TALKING felt comfortable in its action and travelled well throughout until placed under pressure in the home straight and was in his opinion disappointing in its finishing effort. He further added that the gelding may appreciate softer track conditions than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BARADE (FR) – Rider J. Byrne was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times before the 100m that being 2 more than permitted.
 
OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin.
 
DUNHILL (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 4: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW Class 3 Handicap 1825 metres
 
SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) Raced three wide until approaching the 1300m.
 
BLACKLOG (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
RAPAPORT (NZ) – Shifted in approaching the 350m after being brushed by SOUTHERN STOCK.
 
DIASONIC – Momentarily steadied from the heels of RAPAPORT (NZ) approaching the 350m when that runner shifted in after being brushed by another runner.
 
MOKTAFFY (IRE) – Rider J. Byrne was reminded of his obligations pursuant to AR 131(b) to ride his horses out to the end of the race.
 
DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ - Raced three wide throughout.
 
CONTRERAS – Obliged to steady from the heels of DIASONIC shortly after entering the home straight. Apprentice A. Jones, the rider of DIASONIC, was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
 
Race 5: CASCADE QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
HARD TO SAY – Raced keenly in the middle stages after being crossed by another runner. Improve onto heels approaching the 600m when over racing and shifted out and bumped KAYLEEN.
 
JUKEBOX FLYER – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider approaching the 600m. Steadied at the 50m from the heels of FIRE LOVE.
 
AL PAL'S GAL - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR HEART THROB – Slow to begin.
 
TARPS – Was difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer S. Morrisey was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the colt. Slow to begin.
 
FIRE LOVE – Shifted out to improve approaching the 50m and became unbalanced resulting in JUKEBOX FLYER which was racing to its outside having to be steadied from the heels of FIRE LOVE.
 
KAYLEEN – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 600m was bumped and forced wider by HARD TO SAY.
 
READY TO TORQUE – Bumped at the start.
 
Race 6: BRC MEMBERSHIP 2022/23 No Metro Wins Handicap 1000 metres
 
THE EGYPTIAN – Blundered shortly after the start.
 
CHEZBLACK – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISCHIEF MANAGED – Raced wide early.
 
VOULAIT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
COLD HARD FACT – Obliged to alter course to secure clear running approaching the 250m and again was obliged to alter course approaching the 150m to obtain clear running.
 
BEFANA – Tightened for racing room approaching the 700m when racing to the inside of DYNAMIC DUO which shifted inwards after being tightened for room when racing to the inside of JUBAI PRIDE which shifted in and away from MISCHIEF MANAGED.
 
SHE'S A TIGRESS – Raced in restricted room and was obliged to steady when tiring over the concluding stages.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Approaching the 700m, shifted in and away from MISCHIEF MANAGED resulting in DYNAMIC DUO being tightened for room and causing that runner to shift in and tighten BEFANA.
 
DYNAMIC DUO - Approaching the 700m, was placed in restricted room to the inside of JUBAI PRIDE and shifted in causing BEFANA which was racing to the inside to be steadied.
 
 
Race 7: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY SEPTEMBER Class 6 Handicap 1200 metres
 
SAFEWORK - Bumped shortly after the start.
 
ACROBATIC – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
WINSIDE - Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SMART IMAGE – Jumped awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
MAYA BAY – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
TESARC – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped MAYA BAY.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Soft 5.
 
Race 8: SKY RACING OPEN Handicap 1600 metres
 
LOVE TAP – Approaching the 200m was momentarily steadied from the heels of TOKORIKI LAD which shifted out under pressure.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
BOTTEGA – Bumped after start.
 
JETTY – Hampered shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1500 metres
 
MAGIC CHARLEE – Fractious before the start was effected and was then slow to begin.
 
RENOUF – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SNEAK PREVIEW – Jumped awkwardly.
 
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Over-raced in the middle stages and had to be steadied from heels. Held up approaching the 300m and had to alter course to secure clear running.
 
HOT SPRING GOLD – Jumped awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
CHATTY LADY – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
NEMINGAH (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout.
