GENERAL
 
Jockey S. Collett was examined by the club doctor following a harmless fall at trackwork this morning and was cleared to fulfil her engagements.
 
R2. 4. DANEZEL – Stewards accepted the explanation by Trainer Mr R. Heathcote for the late withdrawal of dual acceptor DANEZEL. Mr Heathcote was fined $200.
 
R8. 6. SUPERGIANT - Stewards intend to interview trainer A Neasham at a later date regarding the circumstances that led to the scratching of SUPERGIANT following an IIT stable inspection.
 
 
Race 1: JONKER AT AQUIS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap
1000 metres
 
MISHANI RENEGADE – Jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 400m, shifted out and bumped with MISHANI METALLIC on a number of occasions. Near the 300m, again shifted out and bumped with MISHANI METALLIC.
 
MISHANI RAIDER – Jumped awkwardly shifting out hampering MISHANI METALLIC, I AM THOR, and MISHANI MYSTIQUE. Had to be restrained from the heels of TOUTE SWEET near the 600m before shifting out.
 
MISHANI VALOUR – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Hung in over the final stages despite the efforts of its rider. 
 
SHE'S A ROGUE – In the early part of the home straight held up for clear running. Approaching the 200m improved into a narrow run between TRIFLING and TOUTE SWEET and as a result contacted both these runners.  
 
MISHANI METALLIC – Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 2: XXXX Class 3 Handicap 1600 metres
 
HIGHLIGHTS – Trainer C. Morgan advised that the gelding will revert back to its usual racing pattern today of racing in a more forward position. Ridden accordingly. Held up for clear running on the home turn and the early part of the home straight.
 
IRISH HOMIE – Approaching the 200m bumped with THINK HIGH.
 
RATIONS – Had to have its saddle readjusted on arrival at the barriers. Near the 1400m contacted the hindquarters of IRISH HOMIE. Held up for clear running entering the home straight.
 
SMYTZER – Jockey R. Maloney was fined $200 for being unable to make the weight on this runner. Jockey Maloney was replaced by B. Thompson.  Rider B. Thompson reported at scales that despite travelling well throughout, he was disappointed in the finishing effort of the gelding.
 
GREEN FLASH – Slow to begin.
 
TUHINGA – Raced three wide throughout.
 
THINK HIGH – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Bumped with IRISH HOMIE approaching the 200m.
 
 
Race 3: SPS QUALITY CONCRETE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap
1400 metres
 
MONTABOT – Raced wide throughout.
 
CONFESSED – Pulled hard in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until near the 150m, and had to alter course to obtain clear running. M. Cahill was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he was careless in shifting out when not fully clear of MONTABOT, which then shifted out further hampering THE DROVER. Jockey M. Cahill was found guilty and suspended for eight (8) days commencing midnight the 24th of October until midnight the 1st of November 2022.  In determining penalty, Stewards took into account rider M. Cahill’s good record.
 
FIVE CROWNS – Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until leaving the 200m. 
 
SIENNA'S CHOICE – Connections advised that the mare will be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
BOLD AND LUCY – Near the 1200m when corrected mount from shifting in became awkward at the heels of SIENNA’S CHOICE. Raced wide throughout.
 
NIGHT GUY – Began awkwardly.
 
THE DROVER – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out soon after the start. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight and passing the 300m shifted out, making contact with VILLADEN. At the 150m, hampered by MONTABOT when that horse shifted out as a result of CONFESSED shifting out..
 
DANEZEL – Slow to begin. Hampered soon after the start and lost ground.
 
VILLADEN – Hampered soon after the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. On the home turn bumped on the hindquarters by THE DROVER.
 
 
Race 4: MADISON CLEANING SERVICES BENCHMARK 78 Handicap
2218 metres
 
OTYRAR – Began awkwardly bumping with SERGEANT SILVA who had to be checked. Shifted three wide from the 900m to improve forward.
 
ZA CEIBAS – Passing the winning post on the first lap, had to be eased when SAINT MARTIN shifted in away from OUTBACK GLADIATOR despite the efforts of its rider. Rider S. Collett when asked to comment on the gelding’s performance stated the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. Stable representative Mr B. Killion advised that the stable will report back to Stewards on the future plans of the gelding.
 
POPULIST – Shifted three wide from the 900m to improve forward.
 
RED WAVE – Jumped outwards. Overraced in the early stages.
 
SERGEANT SILVA – Tightened for room when OTYRAR began awkwardly and RED WAVE jumped outwards at the start.  Held up and had to alter course near the 250m to obtain clear running. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
TIOMO – Stood flatfooted and was slow to begin. A warning was placed on the gelding for its barrier manners.
 
 
Race 5: THIS IS CROSER 3YO Plate 1400 metres
 
SOOTHSAYER – Near the 1000m, when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of ACCEBER.
 
BROOKHAVEN – Slow to begin.
 
LOST MEDIA – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
HONKYTONK DIVA – Blundered shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 6: CLAYFIELD JEWELLERY Class 3 Plate 1000 metres
 
ENABLER – Raced wide throughout. Near the 400m shifted in and bumped MAJOR MURPHY. 
 
MAJOR MURPHY – Jumped awkwardly, shifting out hampering AMITY GAL, which was slightly slow to begin. Then shifted out bumping PRINCESS LUNAR shortly after the start hampering FIFTEEN ROUNDS and ENABLER. Improved onto the heels of PERSEIDS at the 150m.
 
PERSEIDS – Raced wide throughout. Jockey L. Tarrant was reprimanded under AR131(a) in that he was careless in shifting ground near the 150m.
 
AMITY GAL – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Maloney was found guilty under AR131(a) for careless riding in that passing the 800m he shifted in when not fully clear of DEEP ROUGE (S. Collett) who had to be restrained to avoid the heels of AMITY GAL. Jockey Maloney was suspended for eight (8) days commencing midnight the 24th of October until midnight the 1st of November 2022.  In determining penalty, Stewards took into account rider R. Maloney’s good record.
 
PRINCESS LUNAR – Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
 
STELLAR MAGIC – Jockey B. Thompson reported at scales that STELLAR MAGIC would take a fitness benefit from today’s race.
 
ELECTED – Shifted in approaching the 800m briefly tightening AMITY GAL for room.
 
KEETA – Improved onto the tiring PRINCESS LUNAR and had to be checked approaching the 300m.
 
Race 7: LIQUOR LEGENDS No Metro Wins Handicap 1200 metres
 
PRIMAL SCREAM – Raced wide throughout.
 
DUBAI TYCOON – Slow to begin.
 
MIX – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
COLD HARD FACT – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
EXPECTANT – Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER GET SET – Overraced in the early stages.
 
FUMIKO – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping the hindquarters of COLD HARD FACT. Overraced in the early stages. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 8: CANADIAN CLUB BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1820 metres
 
ROMAKASH – Restrained from the wide barrier to the rear of the field to obtain a position close to the rail.
 
TRADUCE – Slow to begin.
 
FORT WAYNE – Near the 650m shifted out to improve and carried SIR BARNABUS wider on the track.
 
 
Race 9: CLEAR TO WORK ST RITA'S CUP OPEN 1200 metres
 
AXE – Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
BULLFINCH – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
MASS DESTRUCTION – Jockey B. Thompson commented on returning to scale that it was not his intention to race outside the leader but when he began well, rather than being caught wide, he elected to proceed forward. Over the final stages, was tightened for room.
 
 
RACE 10: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1400 metres
 
WREN'S DAY – Trainer L. Gough was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider.
 
RUBAMOS – Raced wide throughout.
 
CLOAK – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice W. Peel was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip six (6) times prior to the 100m, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
GAVE US UP – Raced wide throughout.
 
ME ME LAGARDE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the home straight and went to the line not fully tested.
 
SWANSTON – Underwent a post race veterinary inspection which revealed no significant findings.
 
TREVELYAN – Leaving the 200m had to be eased when ME ME LAGARDE shifted out when held up in an attempt to improve.
 
HOT SPRING GOLD – At the 250m, attempted a narrow run between GENZAI THE WOLF, which shifted out, and made contact with the hindquarters of INDISCREETLY.
 
INDISCREETLY – At the 150m shifted in slightly under pressure.
