ORIENTAL RUNNER – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. CHECKERS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. THE DROVER – After anticipating the start, jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Rider B. Thompson reported that it was his intention to settle forward but after beginning awkwardly and being slowly away, resulted in him taking up a rearward position. SEE IT THRU – Raced wide. OCEAN EMPEROR – Jockey J. Byrne reported on returning to scale that the gelding raced keen throughout and was disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer J. Bruce advised that he will report back to Stewards over the coming days on how the gelding pulled up and regarding its current preparation. BOLD AND LUCY – Raced wide. NOWYUNOMI (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. VETTA VELOCITA – Jumped away awkwardly. WINTER RAIN – Slow to begin. DARING BELLE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Race 2: MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres TYRESA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin after becoming fractious in the barrier. On returning to scale, jockey L. Cassidy was examined by the Club Doctor after injuring his right ankle in this incident and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning will be placed on the barrier manners of TYRESA. WEST OF AFRICA – Jumped away awkwardly. BOOM COURT – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Byrne commented that the gelding was slow away was unable to take up a position and on straightening failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Trainer D. Forster advised that she will report back to Stewards over the coming days on how the gelding pulled up and regarding its current preparation. CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. TEQUILA DANCER – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 100m when having to avoid the heels of LATAKIA which laid in under pressure. Apprentice Jones, rider of LATAKIA, was advised to exercise more care in future. LATAKIA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: EUREKA STUD PHELAN READY 1000 metres RISKY INVESTMENT – Approaching the 150m shifted out in an attempt to improve and in doing so carried TORQUE I TEE out onto WORX. TORQUE I TEE – Raced in restricted room over the final 150m. CIFRADO – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. KANAIRD – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. WORX – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run between TORQUE I TEE and CIFRADO, which laid in under pressure. Raced awkwardly at heels until approaching the 50m and as a result was unable to be fully tested at any stage in the straight. Race 4: AQUIS STALLIONS CALAWAY GAL 1000 metres FREEMAN – Jumped awkwardly. Jockey S. Collett could offer no explanation for todays’ disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. EMPRESS OF WONDER – Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly in the early stages and raced wide throughout. MALABOOM – Shifted out abruptly approaching winning post becoming awkward in its action. Trainer M. Dale was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners. TRIFLING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MIXED SPICE – Raced wide throughout. WITHIN REASON – Jumped away awkwardly. MUST BE THE MONEY – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after jumping. Race 5: CHANNEL 7 BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1600 metres STAR OF MICHELIN – Stood flatfooted and was slow to begin. Approaching the 1400m raced in restricted room to the inside of WAY BEYOND. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners. TOBILICIOUS (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping contacting COMMAND KING. TREVELYAN – Hampered on jumping. FLEETWOOD MACA (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. COMMAND KING – Raced wide throughout. WAY BEYOND – Trainer S. Kendrick stated that he would have his stable veterinarian examine the gelding after returning to his stables and would report back to Stewards the post race condition of the gelding. Apprentice J. Lloyd was reprimanded under AR114(2)(a) for failing to report to Stewards that he had concerns with the gelding’s action. INDIAN DREAMER – Had difficulty in obtaining clear running on entering the home straight when racing to the inside of FLEETWOOD MACA which laid in under pressure. TOO MUCH CLASS – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Race 6: LADBROKES JUST NOW 1300 metres SALATEEN – Overraced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the mare lost both hind plates in running. CENTREFIRE – Jumped away awkwardly. RAYJEN – Raced wide throughout. Jockey M. Harley reported that the mare was disappointing in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting a poor post race recovery. CALIFORNIA SURREAL – Passing the 1000m commenced to overrace after BETTER GET SET rolled in contacting the hindquarters of the mare. GUNMETAL GIRL (NZ) – As the mare had not raced in excess of twelve months a pre race veterinary examination was conducted and GUNMETAL GIRL was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. WICKED'N' LOVIN'IT – Slow to begin. Race 7: SKY RACING BRIBIE Handicap 1000 metres NICCANOVA – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out contacting ALPINE EDGE. SHOOTING FOR GOLD – Laid in over the concluding stages. SIMPLY FLY – Raced wide throughout. DOCTOR ZOUS – Slow to begin. JE SUIS BELLE – Jumped away awkwardly. The saddle shifted back on jumping resulting in the mare attempting to buck shortly after the start. Jockey B. Loy reported that his saddle shifting placed him at severe disadvantage throughout resulting in him unable to fully ride the mare out. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant abnormalities. ALPINE EDGE – Jumped awkwardly shifted in and contacted NICCANOVA. GENZAI THE WOLF – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of SNEAKY FIVE approaching the winning post and had to be restrained. Race 8: THE STAR GATEWAY 1400 metres ARENTEE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Held up for clear running entering the home straight then raced in restricted room to the inside of CANADIAN DANCER approaching the 300m. RELEASE THE BEANS – Hampered on jumping. Jockey M. Harley was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for raising his arm above shoulder height when applying the whip. ASHGROVE – Held up for clear running over the final 100m and unable to be fully tested to the line. ME ME LAGARDE – Raced wide throughout. CANADIAN DANCER – Jumped awkwardly. THALASSOPHILE – Approaching the 800m restrained after improving onto the heels of ARENTEE. Held up for clear running approaching the 100m. VACCINE – Jumped awkwardly shifted out abruptly contacting CANADIAN DANCER. Approaching the 1200m, shifted out abruptly after becoming awkwardly placed on heels. Overraced during the middle stages. Raced wider on entering the home straight. Jockey J. Byrne reported that the mare hung out throughout. Race 9: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1200 metres BOMBASAY – Raced wide for the majority, and laid in throughout the event. Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SIR ROCKET, which shifted in. Jockey T. Harrison, rider of SIR ROCKET, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. A post race veterinary examination of BOMBASAY revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. INDISPENSABLE – As the gelding had not raced in twelve months, a pre race veterinary examination was conducted and the gelding was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MONTENEGRO MAN – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 400m. JOVIALITY – Slow to begin. MAJESTIC SHOT – Raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room passing the 900m to the inside of BOMBASAY. GREY DEFENCE – Overraced during the middle stages.
