Wilson-Taylor when asked to comment on the mare’s performance could offer no explanation other than the mare may not have appreciated todays’ racing surface. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings apart from mild dehydration. RENOUF – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 150m became awkwardly placed on the heels of MORI’S PRESS, and after shifting out was unable to obtain clear running when racing in restricted room between MORI’S PRESS and CHATTY LADY and as a result was unable to be fully tested in the run to the line. CHATTY LADY – Stewards questioned jockey J. Orman in regards to his riding out of the mare over the concluding stages, in particular, his right arm being extended while riding out to the line. Jockey Orman stated that he was unaware that his arm was extended as far as it was and he could only attribute it to having a loose rain when trying to maintain a straight line over the concluding stages. Stewards noted Jockey Ormans explanation. LOVE SENSATION – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. SEDUCTION QUEEN – Overraced when being restrained in the early stages. Approaching the 1000m, raced in restricted room between RENOUF and COCO ROX, which shifted in. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future. Race 2: SLATTERY AUCTIONS Colts, Geldings and EntiresBENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1200 metres LUSKIN HERO – Rider M. Harley reported that his mount hung in throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr L. Mayfield-Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding. HAMLET VON SNITZEL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m was momentarily inconvenienced by PERSEIDS which shifted in whilst improving. PERSEIDS – Slow to begin. SPELLCATCHER – Passing the 300m, rider R. Maloney dropped his inside rein before quickly regathering. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight. Jockey R. Maloney commented that the gelding was disappointing and may benefit with the addition of a tongue tie. A post race veterinary examination no significant findings. Trainer K. Lees reported that he will have the gelding scoped on returning to the stable and will report results to Stewards in the coming days. Jockey R. Maloney was charged pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did not fully ride his mount out over the concluding stages costing his mount fourth placing.
