SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
Jockey Brodie Loy was fined $300 pursuant to AR190(3) Failing to fulfil two engagements due to being overweight.
 
 
Race 1: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Approval – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Post- race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Big Boy Ben – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
No Better Time – Due to a computer error the application to race in blinkers was not published in form guides, however stewards were satisfied that the application had been lodged by the appropriate time and NO BETTER TIME was permitted to race in blinkers. Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
Ser Joh – Buffeted on jumping.
 
Mishani Ambitious -Slow to begin. Rider reported that it was not his intention to settle in a rearward position however as the filly was slow to begin he elected to allow it to travel where it was comfortable.
 
Revitup Charlie – Raced keenly early and hung out. Carried wider rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight M Savva rider of RUBAAHY and accompanied by trainer Mr K Kemp reviewed the official footage to consider a possible protest against the winner, however once reviewed and considering the margin both parties elected not to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
 
Bedaub – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight.
 
Rubaahy – Heavily bumped on jumping, forced across heels, and lost ground. Held up near the 400m before shifting wider to secure clear running. Bumped over the concluding stages when WITHIN REASON which shifted out abruptly and was inconvenienced.
 
Within Reason – Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages.
 
Minto's D'oro – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 400m.
 
Miss De Blaas – Began very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Soo Sweet – Bumped heavily on jumping and became unbalanced. Stewards questioned Jockey A Mallyon regarding the tactics adopted from a point near the 500m.Jockey Mallyon stated that approaching the 500m his options were limited as he would have expected DEBAUB to have commenced to improve past the leader MISS DE BLASS and when this did not occur, he was obliged to wait until entering the home straight to shift onto the back of DEBAUB. He then indicated that he was unable to secure clear running until DEBAUB shifted out near the 200m. Stewards after considering the evidence tendered by jockey Mallyon and on review of the films accepted jockey Mallyon’s comments.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 2225 metres
 
Contrition (NZ) – Tightened on jumping.
 
Bernie's Tiger – Near the 1900m when the pace slackened was obliged to steady from heels. Jockey Yvette Lewis was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 8 times prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted
 
Chocolatier (NZ) – Jockey Gary Geran was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
Kipling's Journey – Raced keenly early.
 
Valley's Sister –Raced wide early before being allowed to stride forward by its rider and reach the position outside the leader near the 1500m.
 
Mighty Willie – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Scilago – Made the crossing at the 1800m awkwardly.
 
 
Race 4: QTIS JEWEL RACEDAY 18 MARCH QTIS BENCHMARK 68
Handicap 1600 metres
 
Royal Performance – Restrained from the wide barrier.
 
Choir Boy – Bumped on a number of occasions approaching the home turn with SPILL THE SECRET.
 
Merimee – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
Flying Joy –Held up for clear running between the home turn and the 200m.
 
Saint Martin – Tightened near the 200m and obliged to steady when EYELEFTIT shifted out to improve and HELEVA DEEL laid in slightly.
 
Spill The Secret – Bumped on a number of occasions approaching the home turn with CHOIR BOY when shifting out in order to secure clear running. Rider reported that in the early part of the home straight his mount was inclined to lay in.
 
Heleva Deel –Laid in near the 200m.
 
Enterprise Jewel – Began awkwardly.
 
Eyeleftit – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: XXXX DRY Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
American Pioneer – Raced keenly early. Tightened near the 800m when crossed by JETPACK VERDI which slackened the pace. Jockey R Maloney was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
Big Ticket Boy – Hung from the 600m. Raced greenly throughout. Shifted out when placed under pressure over the final 150m and proved difficult to ride. Trainer L Gough was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings’ racing manners.
 
Birmingham – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide. Checked when tightened for racing room near the 100m when Jetpack Verdi was carried wider by BIG TICKET BOY which hung out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Jetpack Verdi (NZ) – Near the 100m was carried wider when BIG TICKET BOY raced greenly and hung out.
 
Time To Testify – Began awkwardly.
 
Allberin – Slow to begin.
 
Bernmark – Trainer advised that the mare will be ridden back in the field from the wide barrier. Ridden accordingly. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Poetic Drama (NZ) – Steadied from heels near the 800m when the pace slackened.
 
Mont Royal – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH 20-21 QTIS
Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
San Lucido – Bumped on jumping. Cast the off-hind plate. Between the 1300m and 1200m bumped with PROPHETS DEVINE on multiple occasions.
 
Bettcha The Crown – Forced wider near the 700m then raced wide for the remainder.
 
Ready Azz Eva – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced and steadied to avoid heels near the 400m.
 
Austral Street – Slow to begin.
 
Prophets De'vine – Began awkwardly. Between the 1300m and 1200m bumped with SAN LUCIDO on multiple occasions and raced in restricted room.
 
Street Hussy – Refused to load and declared a late scratching at by order of stewards at 4.31pm. Trainer L Mayfield-Smith was advised that the filly would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming. Deductions are as follows.
1st Cranky Harry            0 cents win.
                                     1 cent place.
2nd Bettcha The Crown 2 cents place.
3rd San Lucido               1 cent place
 
 
 
Psychic Rose – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
Canelander – Cast the near fore plate.
 
Rock War – Slow to begin.
 
Leinster – Stewards questioned jockey A Thomson regarding tactics adopted in the early stages. Jockey Thompson reported that his instructions were to settle in a midfield position with cover however after being caught very wide he then elected to allow his mount to stride forward. Stewards noted his comments.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES MARKET CONTROL BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
 
Light Of Boom – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m steadied from heels and inconvenienced when the pace slackened. Improved onto heels near the 150m  was held up and went to the line without be fully tested.
 
Born A Warrior – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 1000m when VEANDECHANCE shifted in.
 
Starzam – Slow to begin.
 
Green Legend – Near the 900m steadied from heels and inconvenienced when the pace slackened. Post- race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was galloped, had lacerations to the near hind and was treated on course. Trainer D Duryea was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding resuming.
 
Night Guy – Raced wide.
 
Reliable Ruby (NZ) – Raced wide. Disappointed for a run passing the 200m and obliged to alter course to secure clear running.
 
Third Time Round (NZ) – Raced wide.
 
Veandechance – Fractious in the barriers. Restrained from the wide barrier to a position nearer the rail. Improved onto heels near the 100m and obliged to alter course to secure clear running.
 
Race 8: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Mista Omega – Over raced early.
 
Hang Five – Rider reported that after beginning well he elected to allow his mount to stride forward without pressuring his mount and dictate the pace when leading.
 
Maple Door – Over raced early, made the first turn awkwardly, shifted wider and continued to over race for some distance.
 
Security Advisor – Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
 
The Lions' Gate – Restrained from heels near the 1000m when racing to the inside of MAKE IT FLASHY which shifted in.
 
Make It Flashy – Rider B Thornton reported that after attempting to obtain cover in a midfield position passing the 1300m, and when unable to do so he allowed his mount to stride forward and position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
Nippa's Nightcap – Held up for clear running over the final 150m.
 
Sea Ripple – Held up rounding the home turn and improved into a tight run approaching the 300m SEA RIPPLE, was then obliged to race in restricted room for the final 150m when HANG FIVE shifted in slightly and as a result was steadied over the concluding stages.
 
Virtuosity – Began awkwardly and over raced early.
 
Habeebati – Slow to begin.
