HE'S THE ULTIMATE (NZ) - Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. HOKAHEY– When questioned regarding the performance, trainer J Bruce stated that the mare wasn’t suited to the manner in which today’s race was run. BERING SEA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KAPSALI – Began awkwardly. KARLSTAD (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly. THE RED KITE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WEEKEND AFFAIR – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied off the heels of MAGIC CONQUEROR which shifted in to obtain cover. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future. Race 2: CELEBRATING GRACE INNES QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1000 metres HARD TO SAY – Slow to begin. Jockey A Morgan stated that in his opinion the gelding raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J Deamer reported the gelding will be sent for an immediate spell. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow post-race recovery. ALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Over raced early and middle stages. Passing the 800m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of JACENZA which shifted in. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to take care shifting ground in the future. BEAST MODE – Jockey B. Loy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m mark, being two more than permitted. Race 3: FVS FIRE SOLUTIONS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1820 metres RED TOP – Jockey B. Thompson reported that after being caught wide in the early stages, he elected to restrain the gelding to take up a position at the rear of the field. Jockey B Thompson was reprimanded under AR132 (7)(a)(i) for using his whip on consecutive strides in the home straight. DESERT MIST – Raced wide throughout the event. SHADYVALE STORM – Passing the 500m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of DESERT MIST which shifted in when insufficiently clear. SYRIAN STAR – Post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was restrained to take up a position closer to the rail. FAIRWAY STAR – Passing the 500m attempted to shift out to improve but in doing so made contact with DESERT MIST on a number of occasions and resulting in FAIRWAY STAR being carried back in across the heels of SHADYVALE STORM and having to be steadied. In the incident Jockey A Morgan changed his action and raised his elbow on two occasions and directed in mount in when attempting to prevent FAIRWAY STAR from shifting out to improve. Jockey A Morgan, as the rider of DESERT MIST, was found guilty of improper riding under the provisions of AR131(a) and was suspended for three (3) weeks to commence midnight 13 March to midnight 3 April 2023. KUREDER (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WHERE YA BEAN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: CANADIAN CLUB QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO Fillies Plate 1000 metres BEDAUB – Raced wide throughout. DON'T CHA WISH – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 500m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of RINGER’S REWARD. FIVE STAR VIXEN – Raced wide throughout. FORCESOME – Began awkwardly. Hampered shortly after jumping away. Raced wide throughout. Jockey J Huxtable was fined $200 under AR132 (6) (c) for using his whip on a runner out of contention. GLASS OF ROSE – Raced in restricted room passing the 800m. RINGER'S REWARD – Crowded shortly after jumping away. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides after passing the 800m. Approaching the 500m improved onto the heels of GILIANA, shifted out tightening DON’T CHA WISH. Held up for clear running from the 300m to inside the 200m. RUBAAHY – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 700m. Race 5: FOLLOWMONT TRANSPORT QTIS JEWEL PRELUDE 2YO Colts & Geldings Plate 1000 metres The start of this race was delayed 5 minutes, due to I AM THOR undergoing farrier attention on arrival at the barriers. APPROVAL – Jumped in and away from SPIN DOCTOR and shifted in abruptly. When attempting to move to the outside of PRINCE TOBY passing the 600m, was bumped on a number of occasions by SPIRIT OF BRODIE and was disappointed for that run. I AM THOR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed I AM THOR to be displaying clnical signs of moderate heat stress. MISTER MODERATION – Shifted in and away on jumping, shifting in abruptly hampering ALL VALOUR. Passing the 500m, raced in restricted room to the inside of PRINCE TOBY, which shifted in and away while racing greenly. NOBLE INTENT – Had to be checked on jumping losing considerable ground. PRINCE TOBY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout the event. The gelding underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. SPIN DOCTOR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. SPIRIT OF BRODIE – Over raced throughout. Jumped away awkwardly. TOP FUN – Hampered shortly after jumping away. ZELGARIA – Laid out under pressure in the final stages. ALL VALOUR – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and was severely hampered. Over raced in the early stages. Passing the 800m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ZELGARIA which shifted in and away from SPIN DOCTOR. Race 6: SILK LASER CLINIC OPEN Handicap 1820 metres MOHICAN HEIGHTS (IRE) - Was disappointed for a run on entering the home straight, resulting in the gelding being awkwardly placed on heels. Shifted in, in an attempt to improve was again held up for clear running from the 300m until inside the 150m. NAMAZU - Jockey B. Thompson stated he could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed poor post-race recovery. TEARS OF LOVE - A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. BARADE (FR) - Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room inside the 200m between NAMAZU and SHE’S THE GIFT. HIGH COURT - Over raced early and middle stages. MUBARIZ (GB) – Slow to begin. DR EVIL – Raced wide throughout. Over raced throughout middle stages. TREVELYAN – Approaching the 1000m, commenced to over race and as a result shifted out to a three wide position and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Race 7: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1200 metres SNEAK PREVIEW – Shifted in shortly after jumping away hampering BULLINACHINASHOP. OPACITY (NZ) - When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice A. Jones stated that being first up today would derive benefit from today’s run. HARLEQUIN FIELD – Raced wide in early and middle stages. BIRRIECART – Underwent a post-race examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. SUBTERRANEAN – Trainer M. Dunn advised Stewards of a change of tactics in that he would attempt to have the gelding ridden further back today. Was ridden accordingly. BULLINACHINASHOP – Was hampered shortly after jumping away. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. DELYTH – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported his mount hung out throughout the event. Over raced early and middle stages. Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH 20-21 OPEN Handicap 1200 metres HILAL– Raced wide throughout. When questioned on the performance of the entire, Apprentice A. Jones stated that after racing wide without cover her mount failed to respond to her riding over the final stages and would derive benefit from today’s event. STAMPE – Raced in restricted room passing the 1000m and was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of THE BIG GOODBYE which shifted in, Apprentice J Lloyd was advised to exercise greater care. Jockey J. Huxtable advised that his mount raced flat when placed under pressure in the home straight. LAST CHANCE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room passing the 200m and was obliged to shift in to improve. Inside the final 50m raced in restricted room to the inside of GREYWORM. SNOWZONE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and when attempting to improve into a narrow run between BOOM SPENDER and HILAL, was disappointed for a run and had to be checked. JETTY – Began awkwardly and was slow to proceed. BOOM SPENDER - Jumped away awkwardly. Race 9: SUNTORY 196 Class 6 Plate 1400 metres ROCK AMORE – Raced in restricted room over the final stages and was unable to be fully tested to the line.STUTTERING – Improves onto the heels of ROCK AMORE at the 1000m. THE RITZ – Raced wide throughout. HILO – Held up for clear running in the home straight. MORETHANNUMBERONE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running at the 500m. HIGHLIGHTS – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room over the final stages and was unable to be fully tested to the line. RED WAVE – Slow to begin. SIENNA'S AWARD – Raced wide throughout.
