Pedofsky, J. CromptonStarter – S. Lister, P. Cousins Race 1: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI QTIS Two-Years-OldHandicap 1300 metres ADELAD – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels after the pace of the race slackened. MR CALEB – Slow to begin. Held up from the 300m and obliged to shift in approaching the 200m and shifted in and away from GUCHI DIVA, contacted the running rail, becoming awkward in its action and losing its position. The colt was then shifted wider in an attempt to improve, but was unable to be fully tested by its rider in the run to the line. ALL VALOUR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. CAPITAL CEE – Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition. Passing the 1200m, raced in restricted room between CRIMSON WARNING and MISHANI MYSTIQUE which shifted in. As a result, the colt had to be restrained off the heels of MISHANI MYSTIQUE, then commenced to over race and shifted out. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Inside the 100m was obliged to steady when tightened for room by CRIMSON WARNING which shifted in under pressure. Jockey M. Du Plessis was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. GUCHI DIVA – Restrained off heels and held up for clear running turning into the home straight. Passing the 200m was obliged to shift in around heels to improve. MISHANI AMBITIOUS – Fractious in the barriers and slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m had to be restrained off heels after the pace of the race slackened. MISHANI MYSTIQUE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. CRIMSON WARNING - Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that he dropped his inside rein near the 150m but regathered it shortly thereafter. Race 2: FISHER & PAYKEL Class 3 Plate 1600 metres WHITEWATER – Began awkwardly. TENZING (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages. LOVELY ESTEEM (GB) – Over raced during the early stages when attempting to restrain to find cover. Race 3: HOPPYS CAR WASH BM85 Handicap 1600 metres STAR OF MICHELIN – Stood flatfooted and missed the start. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that STAR OF MICHELIN will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. SAGACIOUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HONORABLE SPIRIT – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before striding forward at the 1000m to take up a position outside the leader. Apprentice Y. Lewis was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip seven times prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted. STUCK WITH YOU (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey A. Mallyon was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip six times prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted. RED LIGHT ROXANNE – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Race 4: SPORTING CHANCE CANCER FOUNDATION BM78 Handicap1830 metres CLYDE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) – When asked to comment on today’s improved performance, trainer Mr C. Munce said the gelding had worked well since it’s disappointing last start performance at Doomben. He also stated that Eagle Farm is the horse’s preferred track and that today’s race was run to suit, and he was expecting a more forward showing. TEXAS STORM – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Had to be steadied off heels and shifted wider near the 1300m with CLYDE being carried wider. DECADENT TALE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. KOPANGI (NZ) – Slow to begin. Trainer’s representative Mr B. Killion and jockey S. Collett, when asked to comment on the disappointing performance, both stated that the gelding was not suited to today’s slow tempo. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. MIDNIGHT RAMBLER – Passing the 350m was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of WARP SPEED. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MIRACLE SPIN (GB) – Slow to begin. Race 5: ENERGY AIR OPEN Handicap 1000 metres TAVISAN (NZ) – Rider A. Mallyon reported at scale that the gelding raced flat today. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of mild heat stress. BOOMNOVA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a minor abrasion to the near hindleg. LEGAL ESPRIT – Hampered on jumping and had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of RUBIQUITOUS which shifted in on jumping. OSAMU – Jumped away awkwardly. Commenced to over race near the 600m and shifted wider on the track. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and at the 200m became awkwardly placed at the heels of BOOMNOVA. PRINCESS LUNAR – Shifted out on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a minor abrasion to the near hindleg. Race 6: FUJITSU GENERAL QTIS Class 6 Plate 1200 metres PHAISTOS – Laid out rounding the home turn. BOOM SPENDER – Began awkwardly. Race 7: MOORE AUSTRALIA BM78 Handicap 2406 metres HOSTAGE OF WAR – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress and the thumps. Connections advised that HOSTAGE OF WAR will now head for a spell. CHOCOLATIER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. GO MILLO – Raced wide throughout. SCILAGO – Slow to begin. LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Stewards spoke to trainer L. Manzelmann prior to the race regarding the tactics to be adopted on the gelding today. Mr Manzelmann advised that last start at Ipswich the gelding took hold of its rider, however the intention is to issue same instructions in that they will attempt to gain a position with cover if possible. When questioned by Stewards post race regarding his instructions to apprentice Castle, trainer L. Manzelmann stated to he advised Ms Castle to take a sit behind the likely leader HOSTAGE OF WAR, dependant on how LETS TORQUE A DEEL jumped away. Mr Manzelmann was advised to provide clearer instructions in future. CONTRITION (NZ) – Slow to begin. Race 8: AIRTOUCH QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1400 metres Track was downgraded to a Soft 5 retrospective to the running of race 8. EXECUTIVE STRESS – Passing the 200m when racing in restricted room, accidently struck SPEAK UP resulting in the whip of jockey A. Mallyon breaking and as a result was unable to be used in the line. ATLANTIC OCEAN – Raced in restricted room to the inside of BROOKHAVEN passing the 100m. REBEL NEWS – Trainer G. Thornton was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Jockey B. Thornton commented that he became concerned with the action of the gelding and failed to put his mount under pressure over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards advised trainer G. Thornton to report back to Stewards on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. BROOKHAVEN – Jumped awkwardly. VEANDECHANCE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and tightened SPEAK UP. BELLZEN – Began awkwardly, shifted out contacting EXECUTIVE STRESS. Raced wide during the early stages. Over raced in the middle stages. At the 200m, jockey N. Beriman lost the use of her near side rein placing her at a disadvantage. Inside the 100m, raced in restricted room between VEANDECHANCE and ATLANTIC OCEAN, who was carried in slightly by BROOKHAVEN. SPEAK UP – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after jumping away. Passing the 200m was accidently struck by the whip of jockey A. Mallyon (EXECUTIVE STRESS). BETTCHA THE CROWN – Trainer D. Forster advised of a change of tactics to settle in a forward to midfield position from today’s better gate if circumstances allow. Ridden accordingly. Race 9: Stradbroke Season On Sale Now No Metro Wins Handicap1400 metres MAGIC CHARLEE – Apprentice Y. Lewis’s license to ride in races was suspended for seven (7) days pursuant to AR132(5) in that she used her whip on 18 occasions in totality, beginning midnight the 11/03/2023 and ending on midnight the 18/03/2023. GEE BEE ESS – Slow to begin. ORLEANS ROCK (NZ) – Began awkwardly. MISS BALTIMORE – Over raced in the early stages. FUN SPONGE – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey T. Marshall was fined $200 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, being 1 more than permitted.
