Race 1: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW Maiden Plate 1838 metres BADER – Was declared a late scratching at 11.57am due to transport difficulties. FAUSTO – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start by REISINGER. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer P. Campbell was advised that the gelding would have a warning placed on it for poor performance. JETPACK VERDI (NZ) – Raced wide until the 1200m. Rider R. Maloney advised Stewards at scale that the gelding was obliged to race wide in the early stages which in his opinion, the gelding peaked on its run in the home straight and did not finish the race off as anticipated. NO MORE RED – Laid out under pressure leaving the 200m. AMALGAMATION – Held up for clear running approaching the 200m until leaving the 150m. PARALLEL – Slow to begin. Leaving the 600m attempted to shift wider to improve, however was unable to do so when ROCK WAR held its racing line to the outside. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. REISINGER – Fractious in the barrier. Began awkwardly and buffeted FAUSTO. Approaching the 1200m, commenced to over race and shifted wider racing three wide until the 700m. SADDLES – Had difficulty securing clear running approaching the 300m. LEERY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 350m was obliged to alter course to secure clear running. ROCK WAR – Leaving the 1200m, shifter wider and raced three wide from that point. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: XXXX DRY Maiden Handicap 1200 metres DARK TANGENT – Connections advised of a change of tactics where the gelding would be ridden further back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Held up for clear running from leaving the 300m until the 200m. JACKSON ON TIME – Connections advised of a change of tactics where the gelding would be ridden further back from the wide barrier if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Byrne reported that in his opinion the gelding would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start. ROCKY ROGUE – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. FIGHTING IDOL – Raced wide throughout and forced wider leaving the 500m. NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced leaving the 200m by SUENITO which shifted out under pressure. DEEP CLEAN – Shifted out abruptly on jumping resulting in its rider becoming momentarily unbalanced. SUENITO – Shifted out under pressure at the 200m. RAINEWATER – Began awkwardly bumped by SILK SASH and lost ground. WEST CORK – Began awkwardly. Rider N. Evans reported that the colt raced ungenerously for the majority of the event. Trainer M. Faulkner was advised that a warning would be placed on the colt for its racing manners. Trainer M. Faulkner also advised that he would discuss with connections the possibility of gelding WEST CORK. Race 3: RANVET NATIONAL APPRENTICE RACE SERIES Class 1 Plate 1200 metres BRENTWOOD – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. CONTROL FREAK – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BRENTWOOD. POINT BREAK – Raced keenly in the middle stages. THE GIRL'S BOY (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. BIG IMPACT – Began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post, raced in restricted room between SET TO SHINE, which shifted in and CONTROL FREAK. O'MISS BEHAVING – Apprentice J. Lloyd was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip six times prior to the 100m. TAORMINA DUCHESS – Bounded on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. Momentarily steadied from heels leaving the 500m. Held up for clear running on rounding the home turn. SET TO SHINE – Laid in early stages home straight when placed under pressure. Apprentice K. Dhurun was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using whip seven times prior to the 100m. DARK ORIGINS – Slow to begin. Race 4: MOUNT FRANKLIN Class 5 Handicap 1838 metres TINTINWIN (NZ) – Raced keenly at the heels of DIVINE COURAGE leaving the 1000m. Approaching the 700m shifted in and contacted the running rail. AL AABIR (IRE) – Over raced in the early stages when the pace of the race slackened. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. HE'S THE ULTIMATE (NZ) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 250m. SECRET TALES – Slow to begin and restrained to a rearward position. Momentarily inconvenienced at the 350m by FLYING JOY which shifted out. AGNELLI – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages when the pace of the race slackened. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. FLYING JOY – Steadied from heels near the 1400m when the pace of the race slackened. Laid in under pressure upon entering the home straight. KOPANGI (NZ) - Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. DIVINE COURAGE – Raced wide until the permitted to stride forward to a position outside the leader approaching the 1000m. Race 5: QUEENSLAND JOCKEYS ASSOCIATION NATIONAL APPRENTICE RACE SERIES Class 1 1600 metres AMPHAWA – Raced wide. PRIVATE BANKER – Raced wide during the early stages. RISING FIRE – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels at the 700m. Shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of DREAM CANDY at the 250m. SECURITY ADVISOR – Near the 300m, became tightened for racing room when HAVLICEK shifted in, resulting in SECURITY ADVISOR being crowded onto the running rail and becoming unbalanced. At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice E. Byrne Burke, rider of HAVLICEK, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift her mount in under riding into the rightful running of SECURITY ADVISOR resulting in that runner being crowded for racing room. Apprentice E. Byrne Burke’s license to ride in races was suspended for seven days commencing at midnight the 29th of March 2023 and ending at midnight the 5th of April 2023. Apprentice E. Byrne Burke was advised of her right to an internal review. HAVLICEK – Began awkwardly. Apprentice E. Byrne Burke had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of seven days for using her whip ten times prior to the 100m pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii). Stewards directed the suspension to be served concurrently with the careless riding suspension she incurred causing interference to SECURITY ADVISOR. BERNMARK – Raced wide during the early stages. DREAM CANDY – Began awkwardly. Brushed on the hindquarters near the 250m by RISING FIRE. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Raced in restricted room near the 1300m. Near the 1100m steadied from heels of PRIVATE BANKER which shifted in. VIRTUOSITY – Slow to begin. Apprentice K. Dhurun was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip six times prior to the 100m. Race 6: SKY RACING Class 6 Handicap 1000 metres TRAMONTO – Raced wide in the middle stages. STELLAR MAGIC – Steadied from the heels of CELESTIAL SOL approaching the 800m. Jockey B. Ainsworth, the rider of CELESTIAL SOL, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. A post race veterinary examination revealed STELLAR MAGIC to be displaying a poor post recovery and cardiac arrythmia. Co-trainer Mr S. O’Dea was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, as well as a barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again. BIGGIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 7: LADBROKES SAME RACE MULTI QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres ALLUDE – Began awkwardly. FLYING RUPERT – Raced keenly throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. STUCK IN A DREAM – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m obliged to shift inwards to avoid the heels of the weakening FLYING RUPERT. APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Improved onto heels at the 500m and had to be steadied. Approaching the 300m was obliged to alter course to secure clear running and a short distance later was momentarily inconvenienced when FLYING RUPERT shifted out whilst weakening. BOCHKAREVA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LIQUOR. Approaching the 800m, raced in restricted room for a short distance. LIQUOR – Bumped on jumping. TOW THE LINE – Slow to begin. SPANISH ANGELS – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m. KOBE LAD – Leaving the 100m was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of SPANISH ANGELS which shifted out under pressure. Race 8: FAMILY RACEDAY APRIL BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1400 metres MIKADO – Raced wide throughout. Improved onto heels leaving the 200m and was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages. ARCTIC WOLF – Slow to begin. BEAN DANCING – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in under pressure over the final 100m. BUNDYANDCOKE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m. ADONISEA – Raced wide in the early stages. KISS MY MILLO – Shifted out when racing awkwardly at heels approaching the 700m.
