SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Doomben Race 9 Mick Dittman Plate 22/4/2023 - Trainer C. Taylor reported that CHINNY BOOM will be sent for a short freshen up.
 
 
GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: ROBBIE FRADD OPEN Handicap 2200 metres
 
SERPENTINE – When passing the 300m, momentarily shifted out under pressure.
 
KALAPOUR – Momentarily held up for clear running turning into the home straight.
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Raced keenly in the early stages when the pace of the race slackened.  
 
RED WAVE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MANHOOD – Held up on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.  
 
ZUMA CALIFORNIA – Hung out in the early stages. Held up on entering the home straight.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAFEWORK – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Awkwardly placed on the heels of GENZAI THE WOLF passing the 300m and was obliged to shift wider in an attempt to improve. Disappointed for a run between MAGNUS BELLAGIO and GENZAI THE WOLF passing the 200m and again had to be shifted wider to the outside of MAGNUS BELLAGIO to obtain clear running.
 
MAGNUS BELLAGIO – Raced wide throughout.
 
RENOUF – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages.  Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and shifted inwards in an attempt to improve. Was disappointed for a run passing the 200m and was held up for clear running for the remainder of the home straight and unable to be fully tested by its rider.
 
HATCHET – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
KAT CHINNA – Over raced in the early stages. Passing the 250m, had to be restrained from the heels of TYPHOON TAAVI which shifted in.
 
RUBY JULY – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
ATOMIC SELFIE – Over raced in the early stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room passing the 200m.
 
TYPHOON TAAVI – Over raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure on entering the home straight. Passing the 250m shifted in when insufficiently clear of KAT CHINNA.
 
 
Race 3: VALE DEAN HOLLAND Class 6 Handicap 1000 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed to allow for the veterinary examination of DREAM WEAVING.
 
KING KAPA – Laid out rounding the home turn. At the 500m became awkwardly placed at the heels of MISHANI SNIPER. Jockey R. Maloney, when asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, he stated KING KAPA that felt awkward in its action and he elected not to place his mount under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer T. Gollan reported that the gelding underwent an endoscopic examination on return to his stables which revealed no significant abnormalities. Mr Gollan was advised that KING KAPA must barrier trial or pass an official jumpout to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
MISHANI SNIPER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure placing its rider at a disadvantage over the concluding stages.
 
AMITY GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GROOMED – Slightly hampered shortly after jumping away.
 
DREAM WEAVING – Shifted a near fore plate in the preliminary and was a late scratching at 12.37pm on veterinary advice when found to be lame in the near fore on arrival at the barriers. Prior to correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets on DREAM WEAVING be refunded with the following deductions:
1st RICHON 2c place
2nd MISHANI SNIPER 2c place
3rd FLAMING CONQUEST 2c place
 
Trainer J. Edwards was advised that DREAM WEAVING will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 4: LADBROKES DALRELLO STAKES 1000 metres
 
CIFRADO – Restrained from a wide barrier to take up a position closer to the rail. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PARTY FOR TWO – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight was momentarily inconvenienced and had its hindquarters turned by APPIN GIRL, which shifted out to improve. Jockey B.Thompson, when asked to comment on the performance of the filly, stated that said on face value PARTY FOR TWO was disappointing and would benefit from stepping up in distance. Co-trainer M. Hoysted stated that it is the intention of the stable to step the filly up in distance.
 
TENGUN READY - Raced wide throughout.
 
SZABO – Slow to begin.
 
LINE OF LAW – Over raced during the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance of the filly, jockey T. Clark stated that LINE OF LAW over raced and took the edge of its finish. He added that he was of the opinion that she would derive benefit from the run.
 
APPIN GIRL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: NOVA 106.9 BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS QTIS 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1300 metres
 
STANDING ORDER – Began awkwardly.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Passing the 1100m, commenced to over race when having to be restrained after improving onto the heels of MEMORIA.
 
CHAIRMAN – Hampered on jumping.
 
BETTERDEEL – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT QUEEN – Began awkwardly.
 
EARLSTON – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1100m carried in by I AM ARTIE who was racing in restricted room to the inside of STANDING ORDER.
 
 
Race 6: THE STAR BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1600 metres
 
SIR BARNABUS – As apprentice C. Graham was not riding at the meeting today, apprentice Y. Lewis was engaged as the replacement rider. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
PRINCESS RHAENYS – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room passing the 1200m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 100m.
 
PENTITO – Over raced in the early stages.
 
SMYTZER – Commenced to buck for some distance shortly after the start. Lost the near fore plate in running. Trainer Mr B. Smith was advised that SMYTZER must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
ATON OF DELIGHT – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
GWAN SO – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance of settling further back than its usual racing pattern, rider C. Schofield reported that he was instructed to ride GWAN SO quietly today, however, he was plain in the finish. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the instructions issued to jockey C. Schofield on a date to be fixed.  
 
BALTIC COAST – Slow to begin.
 
JAKKALBERRY FINN (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
COUNT THE COIN – Trainer Mr K. Kemp advised Stewards of a change of tactics today, in that they will attempt to have the gelding ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
MOKTAFFY – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides approaching the 100m and obliged to alter course and shift in to improve.
 
SABALENKA (NZ) – Trainer Mr R. Heathcote was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide throughout.
 
YASUKE – Began awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after jumping carrying PRINCESS RHAENYS wider on the track. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: CASCADE BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1400 metres
 
JETTY – Raced wide early stages.
 
PALLADAS – Raced in restricted room passing the 1250m.
 
BOTTEGA – Began awkwardly.
 
VIRAL – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MORETHANNUMBERONE – Jockey J. Guthman-Chester reported at scale that the gelding was disappointing and failed to let down. On return to scale he noticed that the gelding had lost a hind plate in running. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild lames in the near foreleg. Trainer’s representative Mr T. Pollard was advised that MORETHANNUMBERONE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
PATTON – Began very awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: CHANNEL 7 VICTORY STAKES 1200 metres
 
PRIVATE EYE – Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line between PAULELE and KING OF SPARTA which laid in over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey B. Avdulla stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages but failed to respond when asked for an effort turning into the straight and was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
A CASE OF YOU (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
 
PAULELE – Began awkwardly.
 
KING OF SPARTA – Began awkwardly. Laid in over the concluding stages. Jockey C. Schofield was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted.  
 
HOLYFIELD – Began awkwardly.  
 
PRINCE OF BOOM – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Orman was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted.
 
DRAGON LEAP – Hampered on jumping.
 
 
Race 9: SKY RACING QUEENSLAND GUINEAS 1600 metres
 
PERFECT THOUGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide early stages.
 
THE FORTUNE TELLER – Hampered on jumping. Held up for clear running at the 600m. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
 
KOVALICA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.  
 
BROSNAN – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and had to be restrained from the heels of KOVALICA. A post race veterinary examination revealed a wound to the off hind fetlock. Trainer K. Taplin was advised that TAPILDOODLEDO will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
WAITAK (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
BROOKHAVEN – Hampered on jumping. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MAGADAN – Severely hampered shortly after jumping, clipped the heels of BROSNAN and blundered.
 
NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Hampered on jumping.
 
RISING PACIFIC (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey R. Maloney stated that his mount failed to finish the race off.
 
NOAH 'N' A DEEL – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
