SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Ipswich 28.4.23Race 4: Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons for HEROIC INSTINCT being steadied near the 450m. After taking evidence from J Byrne (HEROIC INSTINCT) and J Huxtable (SEVENTIES HIT) it was established that at this point SEVENTIES HIT was directed outwards around the heels of the weakening CREATIVE, which lost ground quickly and this caused HEROIC INSTINCT to be obliged to steady to avoid heels. Given the circumstances jockey J Huxtable was reprimanded under AR 131(a) for his actions at this time. GENERAL Stewards approved the following jockey to ride overweight.Race 10 – Boris Thornton at 56.5kg. As Brodie Loy was stood-down by the doctor following the running of race 4, he was replaced as per the steward summary. Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP ON SALE NOW Class 5 Handicap 1200 metres Titanium – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running during the early stages of the home straight. My Zebrinka – Raced wide through out. Race 2: LADBROKES LIVE BETTING QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres Lovewillcomelater – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Ancient Mission – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Deep Millions – Raced wide throughout. Sonic Light – Over-raced during the early stages. Race 3: NOVA 106.9 BREAKFAST WITH THE STARS QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres Crazy Brave – Began awkwardly and bumped NEARA REWARD. Over-raced during the early stages. Neara Reward – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Over-raced during the middle stages. Fiery Ring – Had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300m. Adalie – Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped NEARA REWARD. Post-race vet examination revealed signs of heat stress. Blazing Love – Momentarily raced in restricted room whilst tiring near the 200m. Queensway – Slow to begin. Race 4: MEKKA FEST AUGUST QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1800 metres The start of this race was delayed to hold for another venue. Hokkaido (NZ) – J Orman reported that his mount was not suited by the slow tempo set in the early stages and was disappointed with the horses finishing effort. Mishani Spartan – Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted, in that the gelding was ridden in the lead which is in contrast to the horses established racing pattern. After taking evidence from B Thornton and trainer L Ross, it was established that prior to the event it was the intention of B Thornton to ride the gelding in the forward half of the field however it was not his intention to lead. After considering the evidence provided, stewards found Mr Ross guilty of a charge under AR 100(1)(a) in that as the trainer he failed to notify stewards of a change in tactics to its most recent start, when it had raced in a rearward position. Mr Ross was fined the sum of $400. Burnt By Bernie – Over-raced during the early stages. Fireflies – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. Post-race vet examination revealed abrasions to the near hind leg consistent with having been galloped on. Irish Sally – Raced wide throughout. Kalea – Slow to begin. Mishani Kingdom – Over-raced during the early stages. Race 5: XXXX DRY Maiden Plate 1800 metres The start of this race was delayed to hold for another venue. Patti Waggin – Raced wide during the early stages before obtaining a position outside the lead near the 1200m. Encompass – B Thompson reported that he would have liked to be positioned more forward, however after travelling a short distance he was caught wide on the track and elected to steady and settle at the tail of the field. Parallel – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the middle stages. Maurizma – Slow to begin. Race 6: THE STAR STRADBROKE SEASON Maiden Plate 1400 metres The start of this race was delayed to hold for another venue. Brasco – Over-raced during the early stages and hung out when the pace slackened near the 900m, race wide from that point onwards. Steadied over the concluding stages to avoid the heels of HOUSTON ROCKET, which shifted in. Frosty Bear – Slow to begin. Raced wide. Near the 300 was awkwardly placed at the heels of PAIENBARA, which shifted in under pressure. Houston Rocket - Raced in restricted room near the 100m. Paienbara – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. J Bayliss was reprimanded under AR 132 (7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Deep Clean – Rounding the home turn, was steadied when obliged to race in restricted room when MISS BACALL shifted out. C Robertson, the rider of MISS BACALL, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.Miss Bacall (NZ) – Raced wide during the early stages. Raced in restricted room near the 100m. Crimson Reward – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Gemmayze (NZ) – Post-race vet examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer S Cole was advised that a vet certificate is required prior to the mare racing again. Race 7: SKY RACING Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres Chernak (FR) – Slow to begin. Kronenbourg (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure near the 150m. Security Advisor - Leaving the 200m, was inconvenienced and carried wider when BIG TICKET BOY shifted out. Aban (NZ) – Change of tactics, to be ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Sacred Mission (NZ) – Leaving the 200m, was inconvenienced and carried wider when BIG TICKET BOY shifted out. Big Ticket Boy – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight causing its rider to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions. Trainer L Gough was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding. Mr Gough advised stewards that it would be his intension to send the gelding for a spell. Leery - Near the 1600m, was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of SECURITY ADVISOR, which shifted in. Reisinger – Began awkwardly. Cluedo (NZ) – Near the 1600m, was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of BETTER TIMES, which shifted in. C Graham was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Race 8: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1600 metres Amicus Curiae – J Orman reported that it had not been his intention to lead, however when caught wide during the early stages he elected to stride forward to the lead near the 1100m. Choir Boy – Raced wide and laid out from the 500m onwards. Bumped on a number of occasions in the home straight when FIRE KING shifted in. Kiss My Millo – Slow to begin. Luvyouanytime – Laid in over the concluding stages and bumped with GREEK STAR becoming unbalanced as a result. Aswaat – Slow to begin. Held up when rounding the home turn and until leaving the 100m. Greek Star – Bumped by LUVYOUANYTIME over the concluding stages. Kinetic – Held up when rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight. Race 9: BJORN AGAIN ABBA TRIBUTE 2 JUNE QTIS BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1400 metres The start of this race was delayed when BULLOO refused to load into the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 4:07pm. On declaration of correct weight all monies invested on BULLOO were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply on successful bets 1st Sailor’s Secret – 13c win, 11c place2nd Matowatakpe – 12c place3rd Vendidit – 16c place Trainer S Kendrick was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required for BULLOO prior to racing again. Vendidit – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. So Country (NZ) – Change of tactics, to be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Brook Hill – Trainer D Bougoure was fined the sum of $200 under LR 67 (1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Majestics Request – Laid in and bumped MASTER MARKO over the concluding stages. Master Marko (NZ) – Bumped over the concluding stages with MAJESICS REQUEST. I Am Azzurro – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Near the 50m, was steadied from the heels of VENDIDIT, which shifted out. Hallowed Girl – Tightened for room on jumping. Held up for clear running from the home turn until approaching the 200m. Raced in restricted room over the final 100m. Sailor's Secret – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 10: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Class 2 Plate 1300 metres Billy's Bro – Over-raced during the middle stages. Bullion Boy – Over-raced during the middle stages. Sea Palling - Change of tactics, to be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Became fractious as the start was affected and reared dislodging rider C Graham before leaving the barriers riderless. After viewing the patrol footage stewards were satisfied that other than the horses own manners had been afforded a fair start and was declared a runner. Trainer B Lockwood was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to SEA PALLING racing again. C Graham was examined by the doctor and cleared of any injuries. Mista Omega – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn until a point leaving the 200m. Secret Note – Held up when rounding the home turn.
