A. Mallyon +1kg Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres SHAMEDY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. HE'S FOR THE GIRLS – Began awkwardly and contacted the outside barrier partition. A post race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the off fore coronet band. MISTY LEGEND – Began awkwardly, contacting the inside barrier partition and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned about settling at the back of the field, rider B. Thompson stated that he was instructed to obtain cover and after beginning only fairly settled at the rear of the field. He added that the colt travelled well throughout however, in his opinion would have raced better if he was able to settle closer to the speed. CENTARUS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs mild heat stress. THE PUNISHER – Slow to begin. JACK'S BOOM – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until inside the 100m. MISHANI LIGHT – Awkwardly placed on heels passing the 1000m when the pace of the race slackened. Laid out rounding the home turn. STAR ACT – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 1000m when being restrained. Race 2: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 9 SEPTEMBER BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 2400 metres SKY OUT (IRE) – On entering the home straight attempted to improve into a run with insufficent room between OZ LEGEND and READILY AVAILABULL which laid out marginally. Continued to race in restricted room for a number of strides, and passing the 300m was obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running and commenced to lay in under pressure from that point. A post race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to have an increased upper respiratory noise. Connections were advised that SKY OUT will require a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again. OZ LEGEND (IRE) – Shifted in on jumping. READILY AVAILABULL – Laid out rounding the home turn. SCARLET TUFTY (FR) – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start. FLENSBURG – Hampered on jumping. Apprentice C. Graham was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100m. OUR BAMBINO – Jockey A. Mallyon was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100m. INTUITU (FR) – Began awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m. BROWN THOMAS – Shifted out shortly after the start hampering FLENSBURG. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right foreleg which was treated on course. Trainer Mr B. Healey was advised that BROWN THOMAS will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Race 3: GIDDY UP CLUB BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1815 metres SIR BARNABUS – Passing the 1500m commenced to become awkward in its action, shifted out abruptly disloding its rider. On arrival by the oncourse veterinarian, the gelding was found to be deceased and swab samples were taken, and the gelding was sent for a post-mortem examination. Apprentice J. Molloy was examined by the club doctor after complaining of pain in his ankle and was stood down from his remaining engagements. HECTOR DE MARIS (IRE) – Slow to begin. INTUITION – Passing the 1400m, had to be restrained to take evasive action from the fallen SIR BARNABUS and as a result lost significant ground. GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. NIKAU SPUR (NZ) – Slow to begin. MISHANI SPARTAN – Passing the 1400m was heavily contacted on the hindquarters and carried wider on the track by SIR BARNABUS which shifted out abruptly. Race 4: EVA AIR Class 3 Plate 1300 metres I AM LETHAL – Slow to begin. SUPER GORGEOUS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, became awkwardly placed on heels as the pace of the race slackened. TIDAL CREEK – Trainer Mr S. Kendrick was fined $300 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Approaching the 1200m, had to be steadied to the inside of the heels of KANAZAWA which shifted in marginally before being corrected by its rider. AYAHUASCA – Began awkwardly and bumped with DRAMMATICA. Approaching the 700m, momentarily inconvenienced by DRAMMATICA which shifted out. When questioned regarding the performance, rider J. Orman stated that his mount hung in under pressure in the home straight placing him at a disadvantage. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer Mr T. Gollan was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. DRAMMATICA – Began awkwardly and bumped with AYAHUASCA. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn under pressure in the home straight. BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Stood flatfooted and lost ground. Approaching the 1000m, steadied off heels as the pace of the race slackened. Race 5: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES OPEN Handicap 1600 metres LINTHORPE LAD – Rider T. Marshall dropped his whip near the 250m. TREVELYAN – Held up for clear running entering the home straight, and disappointed when insufficient room to do so, and approaching the 200m was obliged to steady and was unable to be fully tested in the home straight. SHAQUERO – When questioned regarding the gelding leading today’s event, stable representative Mr B. Killion stated that from the wide alley, and a step up in distance he expected SHAQUERO to be closer to the speed. He added that in his opinion the gelding failed to run out the mile and the stable would reassess the future racing plans of the gelding and would report back to Stewards in the days subsequent. BAANONE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m had to be steadied when tightened for room by LINTHORPE LAD which shifted out marginally and FAST TALKING which shifted in under pressure. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) and was advised to stop and straighten his mounts in future. BOTTEGA – Over raced during the middle stages. BENTLEY MAGIC – Passing the 1100m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of FAST TALKING. Over raced for a short distance thereafter. Race 6: STABLE CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres POCKET FULL – Bumped on jumping. Shifted out shortly after jumping and bumped VALANTINO ROC. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of fatigue and mild dehydration. Trainer S. Kendrick advised Stewards that he will have blood tests taken and report back to Stewards anything that may come to light that may have affected the performance of the gelding. DESERT MIST – As jockey T. Marshall was stood down by the club doctor for illness, he was replaced by K. Wilson-Taylor. MAKE IT FLASHY – Slow to begin. VIMINELE – Began awkwardly and bumped POCKET FULL. Approaching the 1000m, commenced to lay out resulting in the colt becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of POCKET FULL. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. SIZZLING GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. VALANTINO ROC (NZ) – Hampered on jumping. Race 7: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies Handicap 1200 metres BURNISH GOLD – Bumped shortly after jumping. Rider J. Orman stated that the filly weakened noticeably over the concluding stages and as a result he elected not to place his mount under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr R. Lipp was advised that the filly will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. DEB'S ELLIE – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. EN POINTE – Bumped shortly after jumping. QUEEN ASSASSIN – Hampered shortly after the start. BOLD AND SMOOTH – Began awkwardly. On entering the home straight, became awkwardly placed on heels. CENTRE BOUNCE – Raced wide throughout APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Became awkwardly placed on heels on entering the home straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running. Approaching the 400m became awkwardly placed on heels when attempting to improve, raced in restricted room for a number of strides, and obliged to shift wider passing the 300m. IRON GRACE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 300m became awkwardly placed on the heels of BOLD AND SMOOTH. BLAZING LOVE – Raced wide throughout. Race 8: ASCOT CHILDCARE & KINDY QTIS Class 6 Plate (4YO only QTIS bonuses apply) 1200 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider an objection placed by second placegetter B. Thompson, rider of HATCHET, against 1st place apprentice A. Jones, rider of BLACK ON BEAUTY, stating interference over the final 150m. It was established that passing the 150m, BLACK ON BEAUTY commenced to lay out under pressure resulting in jockey B. Thompson electing to shift in around the heels of BLACK ON BEAUTY. In considering the evidence, the proximity of the incident to the winning post and the short head margin, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that HATCHET would have finished in front of BLACK ON BEAUTY, and consequently dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers. ARENTEE – Passing the 1000m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HATCHET which shifted out after making the point of the turn awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. HATCHET – Passing the 700m was obliged to steady off the heels of ROCK AMORE which shifted in. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. WREN'S DAY (USA) – Began awkwardly. Weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey J. Huxtable stated that his mount travelled well but weakened over the concluding stages. He added that WREN’S DAY was first up from a spell and would derive benefit from today’s performance. Stewards advised trainer Mr L. Gough to report back anything that may come to light over the coming days that may have had an impact on the performance. THISLAND IS MYLAND – Contacted the running rail passing the 700m, became awkward in its action and commenced to lose ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the lame left hindleg. Trainer Mr G. Green was advised that THISLAND IS MYLAND will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. BLACK ON BEAUTY – Began awkwardly and bumped WREN’S DAY. Race 9: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1400 metres KINLOCH – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. SIR WARWICK – Trainer Mr J. Capewell was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Began awkwardly. HOT SPRING GOLD – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. FLEETWOOD MACA (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. MORETHANNUMBERONE – Began awkwardly. MOB BUSTER – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 1200m. Passing the 300m momentarily inconvenienced by KINLOCH which shifted out to improve. Jockey L. Tarrant reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action when placed in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the let hindleg. Trainer Mr J. Bruce was advised that MOB BUSTER must undergo a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. RENOUF – Over raced when the pace of the race slackened passing the 1100m. CANADIAN DANCER – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after. BROKEN HERO – As T. Marshall was ill, he was replaced by jockey J. Bayliss. Began awkwardly. Lost the near fore plate in running.
