Stewards permitted the following overweights:

Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP ON SALE NOW Class 3 Plate 1000 metres
 
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Palmer was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m.
 
NASHIRA – Raced wide throughout.
 
NORD LYON – Raced wide throughout.
 
ARCARIUS (NZ) – Over raced in the middle stages, steadied from heels passing the 600m.
 
RAINBOW CONNECTION – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight after being awkwardly placed on the heels of RUBY CHICKS and was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 300m.
 
RUBY CHICKS – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room shortly after jumping away.  A post-race veterinary examination determined the mare to have a laceration to the right angle of her mouth.
 
WISH I HAD – Began awkwardly. Trainer B. Lockwood was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time.
 
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 2200 metres
 
BARTHOLOMEU DIAS (GB) – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. Trainer representative T. Pollard reported that in his opinion the gelding was disadvantaged by the even tempo throughout the race and in his opinion the gelding did his best work late and it was the stables intention to step up BARTHOLOMEU DIAS to 2400m next start.

OTYRAR (GB) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHAMELESS MISS (NZ) – When questioned regarding the mare’s performance today, Jockey M. Du Plessis stated in his opinion his mount was disadvantage by the slow tempo of the race.
 
MIRANN (FR) – Began awkwardly. Over raced passing the 1200m as the pace of the race slackened. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Jockey Kyle Wilson - Taylor reported his mount was fractious in the barriers prior to the start being affected and when doing so contacted his right leg on the barriers. K. Wilson – Taylor was examined by the club doctor following the running of this race and was cleared to fulfil his remaining rides.
 
MUBARIZ (GB) – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted for MUBARIZ, Jockey D. Thornton stated that in his opinion that MIRANN was the obvious leader but after beginning well and MIRANN not taking up its usual leading position, was allowed to stride forward and take up a position in the lead. When questioned regarding MUBARIZ leading in today’s event, Trainer representative B. Killion stated his expectation was for MIRANN to lead today’s event and thought MUBARIZ would settle outside the lead. He further added that in MUBARIZ would be ridden in a similar pattern for the remainder of his preparation.  
 
Race 3: 3 NATIONAL JOCKEYS CELEBRATION DAY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 70 Hand 1200 metres
 
ACRES AWAY – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
KITRI – Approaching the 300m was obliged to alter course when disappointed for a run.
 
ALLOW ME – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight
 
OMILANA – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m between ACRES AWAY and ALLOW ME which was shifting in to obtain cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed there was no abnormalities.
 
TORQUE ABOUT MAGIC – Over raced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 9 SEPTEMBER BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1000 metres
 
DALAVIN – Approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run and was obliged to alter course, shifting in to secure clear running.
 
BEL ACADEMY – Jockey R. Spokes reported to Stewards at scale that his mount didn’t appreciate todays going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed there was no abnormalities.
 
KASINOVA KID – Hampered shortly after the start.  
 
MUSCHIALLI – Restrained from a wide barrier to take up a position at the rear of the field.
 
Stewards injured into a report from race day veterinary Dr K. Sharman after she observed HOLD ON HONEY being treated on course following this event. After taking initial evidence from Co Trainer M. Hoysted, Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed.
 
Race 5: SKY RACING Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
XTRA GEAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FIELD WIRI – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running near the 600m until entering the home straight.
 
POWER BOOM – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
BARISTASISTA – Raced wide for the majority. Over raced in the middle stage when attempting to be restrained to find cover. Was able to shift in and take up a position one off the fence passing the 600m.
 
BUBBA'S BAY – Laid out approaching the winning post.
 
GEE BEE ESS – Slow to begin.
 
ALLEGRETTA – Co Trainer M. Hoysted stated that in his opinion the mare was disadvantaged by the slow tempo of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed there was no abnormalities.
 
AMATHUBA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running into the home straight and shifted wider to improve.
 
Race 6: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 72 Han 1200 metres
 
NORTHERN EXPRESS – Apprentice C. Graham reported at scale she became concerned with the action of the gelding over the concluding stages and as so elected to not put pressure on her mount over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Nolan was advised the gelding would require a trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
OFFICE JIM – Raced wide throughout.
 
SUBTERRANEAN – Slow to begin.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Began awkwardly.
 
CORONA LAD – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey B Thompson reported in his opinion today’s performance was below expectation but being first up from a spell would derive benefit from today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing. Trainer A. Perk was advised CORONA LAD would require veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic exam prior to racing again.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES YARD COMMENTS No Metro Wins Handicap 1400 metres
 
PIVOTAL MOTION – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BEAN FOGGY – When questioned regarding the performance Apprentice C. Graham reported she was overall disappointed with the performance of the gelding and advised Trainer D. Graham in her opinion BEAN FOGGY would appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BOWRIDER – Shifted out on jumping.
 
PERNELL – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding Jockey D. Thornton reported his mount failed to travel and was disappointed. He added that PERNELL may be better suited to racing on a synthetic surface as per its recent form.
 
BRENTWOOD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have poor post recovery and mild heat stress. Trainers representative C. Cavanough advised Stewards that BRENTWOOD would be going for an immediate spell.
 
Race 8: XXXX OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Slow to begin.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey J. Lloyd could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance, but in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
STAMPE – When questioned regarding todays perceived improved performance, Trainer G. Cornish reported he was pleased in his work leading up to today’s event and in his opinion, he is becoming more familiar with the training and racing habits of the gelding and wasn’t surprised with today’s forward showing.
 
MAJOR ARTIE – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated his mount failed to respond when asked for an effort on straightening and in his opinion was one paced.
 
Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1600 metres
 
REJOICED – Passing the 1400m commenced to race fierce when being restrained to allow HOSTAGE OF WAR to take up a leading position. Continued to over race throughout and shifted in, contacting the running rail, and shortly thereafter lost significant ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey J. Molloy stated that he was instructed to begin neutral and if pressured early to take a sit. He added after HOSTAGE OF WAR commenced to improve, he elected to take hold of his mount and was mindful that he did not want to get in a speed battle in front. He further added after restraining his mount REJOICED commenced to over race for 400m until approaching the 1000m his mount came back onto the bridle. He further added when placed under pressure in the home straight his mount weakened noticeably. When questioned regarding the tactics Trainer P. Webster stated that he instructed Apprentice J. Molloy to begin neutral but was surprised to see apprentice Molloy give up the leading position in the early stages. Stewards advised that they intend to inquire into the betting and have adjourned for a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed there was no abnormalities.
 
HOSTAGE OF WAR – Began awkwardly.
 
REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated his mount was disappointing and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. Trainer and Co Trainer T & M. Sears reported that REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
TITANIUM – Slow to begin.
 
PHILIPSBURG (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering home straight when contacted by SAVOURY which shifted out to improve.
 
WEGOBAM – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
SEEFELD – Passing the 250m was momentarily inconvenienced by REJOICED which shifted in whilst weakening. Apprentice Jockey J. Molloy was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
