Cahill +0.5kg (54.5kg) Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1000M FLYING ZAMBONI – Slow to begin. GALACTIC LEGEND – Leaving the 200m, was obliged to shift out to secure clear running. GENERAL BOOM – Bumped on jumping. Jockey J. Orman reported that his mount had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight and being its first start, it would derive benefit from the race day experience. RUSSIAN SUB – Raced wide throughout. ISLAND TIDE – Bounded on jumping and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide for the majority. OUTLAWED – Approaching the 200m, shifted out to improve and brushed TALTARNI FIELDS. TERESHKOVA – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. TALTARNI FIELDS – Shifted in on jumping and bumped GENERAL BOOM. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Brushed by OUTLAWED near the 200m. Race 2: EVA AIR CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1600 M RED TOP – Raced keenly at heels approaching the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey A. Mallyon was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip in an action which raises his arm above shoulder height. WHODAT – Began awkwardly, resulting in jockey D. Thornton’s left foot making contact with the outside barrier partition. YANGARI – Near the 250m, shifted out to improve and bumped BALTRAY. KENNYSING – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily with MIGHTY WILLIE and blundered shortly after when striking heels. Due to the slow early tempo, was permitted to stride forward by its rider to obtain the leading position passing the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MIGHTY WILLIE – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters at the start and became unbalanced. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 250m, improved onto heels and shifted out to secure clear running. Leaving the 100m, was disappointed for a run between RED TOP and OCEAN ZAR. BALTRAY – Raced keenly at heels approaching the 1000m. Leaving the 250m, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Race 3: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY 9 SEPTEMBER CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1400 M HYPE – Approaching the winning post, became awkwardly placed at the heels of WINSTON SMURFHILL which shifted out. ZOUKINA – Began awkwardly. ROSE OF DUPORTH – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey B. Thompson reported that the mare travelled well throughout however when asked for an effort in the home straight was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. WINSTON SMURFHILL – Began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. DREAM SONG – Began awkwardly. Race 4: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 M TIGERS ROAR – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly after. Held up from rounding the home turn until a point near the 250m. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. TOTSPUR – Shifted out at the start and bumped TIGERS ROAR. Laid out rounding the home turn. HIMEJI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Allen was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. IRISH ARTHUR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages. LISSARO – Held up from rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m. MISTER SELFIE – Raced wide in the early stages. PINKUS – Approaching the 50m, raced in restricted room and then became awkwardly placed at the heels of TIGERS ROAR which shifted out. Apprentice B. Wheeler the rider of TIGERS ROAR was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. BILPA MOREA – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STILETTOS – Held up from rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m. Race 5: ENCRYPTION CHAMPION QLD 1ST SEASON SIRE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 M DUSKY DANCER – Raced wide throughout. SHAQUILA – Approaching the 700m, raced in restricted room. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported his mount travelled well throughout however when asked for an effort in the home straight, failed to quicken as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. POWDER MAN – Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Grisedale was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. CASROCK – Trainer K. Schweida advised Stewards that it is the intention for the mare to be ridden further forward in today’s event if circumstance permit. Raced in a three-wide position behind the leading horses. SUPIDOMAN – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m, raced in restricted room. Held up rounding the home turn. Race 6: SPRING CARNIVAL ON SALE NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M The start was delayed when STREET HUSSY refused to load into the barriers and was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 3:29pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on STREET HUSSY be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st place – 2c the win, 2c the place2nd place – 2c the place3rd place – 2c the place Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was advised that the mare would have to complete two consecutive official trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing. GOLDEN HONOUR – Over raced in the middle stages. HAPPISBURGH – Approaching the 500m, when attempting to shift wider, raced in restricted room to the inside of QUOTHQUAN, resulting in the gelding becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of GOLDEN HONOUR which had shifted out slightly obliging apprentice Wheeler to have to steady his mount. Approaching the 300m, was disappointed for a run and obliged to alter course and shift wider to secure clear running. HOT SUMMER – Held up rounding the home turn. NAME DROPPER – Trainer R. Laming was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to notify a rider within the prescribed time. NOTACLUEHOWORWHO – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Huxtable reported that his mount was inclined lay out rounding the home turn and when asked for an effort in the home straight, proved disappointing. Jockey J. Huxtable added that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. QUOTHQUAN – Fractious prior to the start being effected. Shifted out shortly after the start and hampered POWER FLASH. Near the 900m, laid out slightly at the heels of HAPPISBURGH and had to be steadied. TAMBOURINE MAN – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, momentarily raced in restricted room. TANTALUM – Slow to begin. POWER FLASH – Began awkwardly and lost ground and was hampered shortly after. Race 7: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1845 M KOKONOTSU – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ROCKED – Jockey M. Du Plessis advised to show greater care and stop and straighten his mount when passing the winning post. Jockey M. Du Plessis was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey M. Du Plessis was also reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on two consecutive strides prior to the 100m. BAY STREET – Hampered shortly after the start. LUVYOUANYTIME – Raced wide until the 1200m. PARALLEL – Slow to begin. THIS IS SO – Shifted in at the start. THE LOVE ROCKET – Raced keenly at heels approaching the 800m. Jockey A. Spinks reported at scale that from the wide barrier he settled further back than what the horse had at its previous start. He further added that THE LOVE ROCKET had only raced in a forward position at its last start due to the slow early tempo and the mare’s usual race pattern is to settle in a rearward position. BRAVE BOY – Got its head up shortly after the start when being restrained. Race 8: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200 M The start was delayed when ROCONONO became cast in the barriers and was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 4:40pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ROCONONO be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 1st place – 1c the win, 1c the place2nd place – 1c the place3rd place – 1c the place Trainer representative L. Kilner was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to next racing. READY FOR ANYTHING – Restrained at the start from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rails. ORLABENT – Obliged to be restrained from the heels of SADDLE BOY near the 900, then commenced to over race and shifted out. Apprentice D. McGillivray the rider of SADDLE BOY was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative M. Eggleston advised that it is the intention to spell the gelding. BOHO BEAUTY – Raced wide for the majority. CRACKER ESSGEE – Raced wide throughout. EXPECTANT – Held up rounding the home turn. Upon entrance to the home straight had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between SHADOW OF TIME and YASMEEN. Approaching the 300m, was again disappointed for a run and was obliged to shift inwards approaching the 200m to secure clear running. JUBAI PRIDE – Leaving the 600m, shifted in on its own accord and brushed the running rail. Apprentice M. Castle was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. SADDLE BOY – Began awkwardly. SHADOW OF TIME – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 800m, improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Leaving the 600m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of ALPHA GO which laid in marginally resulting in jockey S. Cormack having to check is mount.ALPHA GO – Leaving the 600m, laid in before being corrected by its rider. YASMEEN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Apprentice C. Graham the rider of APRIL IN AUGUSTA was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mount.
