Race 6: EVENTS AT TATTERSALL'S NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1000 Metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of THE KEWESS to view the footage of the start of the race to ascertain whether the gelding had been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from rider M. Castle, Stewards determined that THE KEWESS was denied its opportunity of a fair start in that the barrier attendant who was assisting apprentice M. Castle, had been contacted by GOSSIP TORQUE which was fractious in the adjoining barrier stall, resulting in him becoming unbalanced and impeding THE KEWESS as the start was effected. Stewards declared the gelding a non runner under AR204(1)(c), and declared correct weight with the following deductions to apply:

1st - NASHIRA - 8c win, 5c place
