Race 1: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 90 Handicap 2212 metres
 
TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey B Thompson stated his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, when asked for an effort in the home straight, weakened and could off no explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer K. Taplin advised Stewards she would report back if anything was to come to light regarding today’s performance.
 
BAANONE (NZ) – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 500m.
 
RED WAVE – Began awkwardly.
 
SAYL (GB) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin and shifted out abruptly. Trainer K. Taplin was advised the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming.
 
Race 2: DRINKWISE QTIS Two-Year-Old Fillies Handicap 1000 metres
 
MISHANI EGO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TERRITORY ASH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey J Orman stated his mount raced greenly throughout however the filly would derive benefit from today’s performance. Trainer L Birchley reported that on return to the stable found the mare had a nasal discharge and told Stewards it was his intention to have the mare examined and will report on the condition of TERRITORY ASH in the following days.
 
DEVINE FORCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
I'MA CHARMER – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice C Graham stated her mount never felt comfortable throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in its near hind. Trainer M Brosnan was advised I’MA CHARMER would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
JEMOMA ALPILAGE – Hampered after start. Approaching the 600m became awkward in its action and lost ground. Approaching the 250m shifted out abruptly after being struck by the whip.
 
MISHANI ALOHA – Shifted in on jumping. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
MISHANI DELTA – Hampered after the start. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey L Tilley stated he became concerned with the action of the filly and elected to not pressure MISHANI DELTA over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be shin sore. Trainer L Ross advised MSHANI DELTA would now be sent for an immediate spell.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: MADISON CLEANING SERVICES QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1600 metres
 
ENCODER – Held up rounding the home turn up until the 250m.
 
INCA TRAIL – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with PORTOROSA. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey R Maloney stated he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co Trainer S Alexiou was advised the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
PORTOROSA – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with INCA TRAIL. Held up rounding the home turn up until the 200m.
 
ACES UP (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: CLAYFIELD JEWELLERY Class 3 Plate 1815 metres
 
I AM THE EMPIRE (IRE) – Trainer’s representative for A. Neasham, T. Pollard advised Stewards I AM THE EMPIRE will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Hampered passing the 450m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SATAY CHICKEN (NZ) – Apprentice C Graham reported her mount hung out throughout the event, placing her at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SUNSET SOIREE – Passing the 500m shifted out to improved and when doing so bumped I AM THE EMPIRE.
 
WHISTLE HOFF – Trainer V Heading was advised that in light of the poor performance WHISTLE HOFF would now incur a metropolitan bar until it establishes form at provincial venues.
 
FURTHERING – Slow to begin. Passing the 200m was obliged to alter course after improving onto the heels of CONTRERAS.
 
CONTRERAS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration on the geldings near hind leg consistent with being galloped on.
 
I PREFER MINTIES (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: TITAN TELECOMS Class 6 Handicap 1600 metres
 
BULLFINCH (GB) – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CHATTY LADY – Bumped after start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J Orman reported at scale the mare may not have appreciated today’s racing surface.
 
MOB BUSTER – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 1300m was awkwardly placed on the heels of REGAL POM which shifted in when insufficiently clear of MOB BUSTER. Jockey R Maloney was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
CHASE MY CROWN – Over raced in the middle stages. Approaching the 150m laid in and became awkwardly placed at the heels of REGAL POM.
 
COTTEE – Bumped after start. Displaced offside winker near the 1400m.
 
Race 6: CLEAR TO WORK - ST RITA'S CUP OPEN 1600 metres
 
GREAT HOUSE (IRE) – Held up on entering the home straight. Passing the 200m when awkwardly placed on the heels of STUTTERING was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
STUTTERING – Raced wide until the 900m. Laid in under pressure.
 
QUALITY TIME (GER) – Over raced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure.
 
MAGIC CHARLEE– Rounding the home turn, bumped on the hind quarters by TUMBLER RIDGE which shifted out to improve.
 
NOAH 'N' A DEEL – Slow to begin.
 
GAVE US UP – Passing the 200m raced in restricted room for a number of strides.
 
Race 7: THIS IS CROSER BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider an objection lodged by jockey M Harley, rider of the second placed EVOCATOR against CORFE CASTLE ridden by apprentice C Graham being declared the winner, alleging interference from the 50m to the winning post. Stewards were of the opinion that approaching the 50m, CORFE CASTLE commenced to shift out under riding and at the same point, EVOCATOR commenced to shift in under riding to a point inside the final 50m making contact, at no stage did either rider stop and straighten their mount. In considering the interference suffered, the proximity to the winning post and the fact that both horses shifted ground, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference was caused by one rider and as such dismissed the protest. Correct weight was declared on the judges’ numbers.
 
CACOFONIX – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
CRANKY HARRY – Over raced in the middle stages.
 
EVOCATOR – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure and leaving the 50m bumped with CORFE CASTLE.
 
FIXATED – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Approaching the 100m, was carried out by BINDING which laid out under pressure.
 
COLLEAGUES (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
CORFE CASTLE – Shifted out under pressure and bumped with EVOCATOR leaving the 50m.
 
MOKTAFFY (IRE) – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps and displaying signs of mild heat stress.
 
BINDING – Shifted out in the home straight.
 
Race 8: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1400 metres
 
LORD MARKEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly.

FASTCONI – Over raced in the early stages passing the 1100m had to be restrained from the heels of STORM THE FORTRESS which shifted to obtain cover.
 
TITANIUM – Passing the 100m had difficulty obtaining clear running and was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
THE CATCH – Raced wide throughout.
 
BROCKY – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 100m. Apprentice M Castle was fined $300 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip six times prior to the 100m, being once more than permitted.
 
SECRET TALES – Shifted out on jumping.
 
STORM THE FORTRESS – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover passing the 1100m. When questioned regarding today’s performance, jockey M Harley reported that his mount travelled well throughout but proved disappointing when asked for a finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SCOTTISH PRINCE – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after the start.
 
SHA OF GOMER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 9: SKY RACING OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
SNOWZONE – Shifted in on jumping.
 
OPEN MINDED (NZ) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
JETTY – Slow to begin.
 
SWEET MARGOT MAY – Hampered shortly after the start. Over raced in the middle stages. Disappointed for a run passing the 350m after POCKET FULL commenced to lay in and as a result SWEET MARGOT MAY was obliged to shift in to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled bilaterally. Trainer R Heathcote was advised SWEET MARGOT MAY would be stood down from racing under AR 79(4) for 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming racing.
 
MUNITIONS (USA) – Began awkwardly.
 
STARVIRGO – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and raced in restricted room between SNOWZONE AND MUNITIONS
 
POCKET FULL – Slipped behind on jumping. Shifted out to improve passing the 350m.
 
Race 10: 0 CANADIAN CLUB No Metro Wins Handicap 1200 metres
 
KOSCIUSKO – Slow to begin.
 
CASINO LORD – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
STANDING ORDER – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with THATFEELSBETTER. Raced wide throughout.
 
MY SNOW QUEEN – Began awkwardly. Disappointed for a run passing the 250m after being carried in by STANDING ORDER.
 
BANDIT – Shifted out on jumping and bumped with STANDING ORDER. Raced wide throughout.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Raced wide throughout.
 
PIECE OF TURF – After rearing up in the tie up stalls, a pre-race veterinary examination was conducted, and the mare was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
