SUPPLEMENATRY REPORT
 
Following from last Saturday 9/12/2023, Trainer T. Gollan advised Stewards that Barbie’s Sister has a bone chip in her knee and will go into surgery early next week to have this removed and will not be in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
 
Co trainer P. Snowden has advised that BODYGUARD will not accept for the 2YO Magic Millions Classic.
 
Trainer R. Heathcote advised that PRICNE OF BOOM which raced at Eagle Farm 9/12/2023 had a laceration to its mouth. He further added that the stable had adjusted the geldings training regime and will continue with the horse’s current preparation, however if anything was to change he would advised Stewards immediately.
 
Stable representative C. Cavanaugh advised Stewards that JOHN RAMBO which raced 9/12/2023 had recovered well from its somewhat disappointing performance and the stable would be continuing with its current preparation.
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 10: J. Orman - +0.5kg
 
As Jockey R. Maloney was indisposed, rider changes were made as per the Race Day summary.
 
Following significant delays due to storm activity, Stewards amended the following race times
Race 7 – 3:52pm
Race 8 – 4:22pm
Race 9 – 5:08pm
Race 10 – 5:42pm
 
Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
KAT CHINNA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being late on course due to transport and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
NEVER SAY NAY – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding today’s performance Jockey A. Mallyon reported that being first up today was mindful that the gelding only had a short sprint and therefore elected to not place his mount under full pressure until passing the 250m where in his opinion, his mount peaked on its run.
 
RUSHEEN – Hampered approaching the 600m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.
 
AMITY GAL – Approaching the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LIQUOR which shifted in marginally when attempting to improve into a leading position. Apprentice B. Wheeler, rider of LIQUOR was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
LIQUOR – Began awkwardly. Laid in during the early part of the home straight before being corrected by its rider. Apprentice B. Wheeler was fined $300 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip six times prior to the 100m, being one more than permitted.
 
REDZOUST – Approaching the 600m was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of AMITY GAL as a result, REDZOUST was obliged to shift wider before being corrected which resulted in RUSHEEN being hampered.
 
SKILORD (NZ) – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. On straightening attempted to shift into a run to the inside of KAT CHINNA which resulted in him being disappointed for a run and was obliged to shift out across that runners’ heels to improve into clear running.
 
INVINOVICH – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 200m.
 
CHIKARA – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 800m.
 
Following the running of Race 1, the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 2: SEASON GREETINGS FROM BRC CLASS 3 PLATE      1810 M
 
CACOFONIX – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 200m, was obliged to steady whilst weakening to avoid the heels of UNCOMMON VALOUR which shifted in marginally. Jockey A. Mallyon reported at scale that the gelding, which was having its first race over the 1800m, in his opinion failed to handle the step up in distance and may have come to the end of its preparation. Stable representative M. Egglestone reported CACOFONIX will now go for a spell and the stable will consider stepping down in distance in future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Raced wide throughout. On entering the home straight, was momentarily inconvenienced by CACOFONIX which shifted out to improve.
 
ANEMACORE (NZ) – Hampered passing the 400m by FLUER DU MONDE which shifted out to improve in the incidence M Rodd had its hind quarters turned and became awkward in its stride. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and passing the 50m, had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed on heels of MADAME ODETTE.
 
WEST CORK – Over raced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FLEUR DU MONDE – Restrained after the start to a rearward position. Approaching the 1400m, had to be restrained whilst over raced after improving onto the heels of HALLSIDE MARTINI. When attempting to improved passing the 400m, attempted to shift out and around the heels of MADAME ODETTE and in doing so, was disappointed for a run after making contact with ANEMCORE.
 
PRINCESS RHAENYS – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
HALLSIDE MARTINI – Slow to begin.
 
MADAME ODETTE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Race 3: NOVA 106.9 CLASS 6 HANDICAP (4YO ONLY QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE) 1600 M
 
AUSSIE NUGGET (IRE) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until the 300m. Jockey B. Thompson was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(5) for using his whip 15 times in totality.
 
DRIVE A DEEL – Began awkwardly.
 
BLACKLOG (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages.
 
STARZAM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one nostril. Trainer K. Schweida was advised STARZAM would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to resuming.
 
TITANIUM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer B. Lockwood was advised TITANIUM would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results at rest, echocardiogram results at rest and after exercise and a satisfactory trial prior to resuming, including a satisfactory veterinary report after trailing. 
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
INDIFFERENCE – Raced wide until approaching the 1100m. At the point of the turn passing the 1000m, shifted wider on the track whilst over racing.
 
WHY WE DRINK – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 4: XXXX FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP    1200 M
 
BURNISH GOLD – Raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides approaching the 300m, between EN POINTE which shifted out and FUMIKO which was carried in by GLORIOUS RUBY, as a result, BURNISH GOLD was obliged to restrain off heels.
 
EN POINTE – Over raced in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FUMIKO – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides shortly after jumping when awkwardly placed at the heels of GLORIOUS RUBY which shifted in. Apprentice M. Potgieter rider of GLORIOUS RUBY was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
MISS COOTA – Began awkwardly.
 
CENTRESTONE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m was able to shift wider around the heels of MADE TO FIT and improved into clear running.
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
SAFEWORK – Began awkwardly.
 
SIR WARWICK – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNFALL – Passing the 600m was carried wider on the track by PERFECT MISSION which shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: ROKU GIN BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
Stewards delayed the running of Race 6 due to storm activity in the area.
 
FLASHING STEEL – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported his mount travelled well throughout but when asked for a finishing effort, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative T. Pollard reported that the performance of the gelding was disappointing and looked to report back on the condition of FLASHING STEEL in the days subsequent.
 
THE DROVER – Over raced in the early stages.
 
SHA OF GOMER – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was unable to be fully tested until passing the 150m.
 
Race 7:LADBROKES GRAND PRIX STAKES 2100 M
 
Stewards delayed the running of Race 7 due to storm activity in the area. After consultation with the rider’s engaged at today’s meeting, Stewards agreed to continue with the meeting once they were satisfied the lightening had passed and the start times for the remaining races were amended.
 
FELIX THE SCAT – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey M. Rodd reported in his opinion the colt doesn’t appreciate racing on the inside of runners, he added that when asked for an effort on straightening, FELIX THE SCAT failed to let down. Trainer T. Gollan advised Stewards it was now his intention to have FELIX THE SCAT gelded.
 
SHY GUY – Shifted out on jumping and bumped heavily with IMEZAKKI. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery.
 
KIRIKAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1400m, had to be steadied off heels after the pace of the race slackened.
 
WINSOME STAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages before taking up a position outside the lead near the 1400m.
 
IMEZAAKI (NZ) – Bumped after the start. Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 1800m whilst racing in restricted room was obliged to steady. Continued to over race in the middle stages.
 
SUPERCRISP – Began awkwardly lost ground.
 
SONOFDEC – Eased down over the final 300m after rider M. Harley became concerned with its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Hopkins reported to Stewards that it was now his intention to send the gelding for a spell. Trainer J. Hopkins was advised SONOFDEC would require a veterinary clearance and satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
 
RED DEFCON – Trainer M. Kropp advised Stewards a change of tactics and RED DEFCON would attempt to settle further forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin and as a result settled in a midfield position with cover.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ADAM – Raced wide in the early and middle stages before being restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field. Approaching the 700m, had to be steadied from heels whilst over racing.
 
Race 8:CHANNEL 7 GOLD EDITION PLATE 1200 M
 
CIFRADO – Approaching the 1000m was hampered and carried wider on the track by BOLD COMIC which shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 800m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DEEP RESPECT which was racing fiercely.
 
MISHANI RENEGADE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Trainer L. Ross was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
DEFIANT SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout. At the point of the turn passing the 1000m, commenced to over race.
 
DEEP RESPECT – Raced fierce rounding the turn passing the 1000m and had to be steadied on multiple occasions to avoid the heels of SHOW ME MERCY. Trainer K. Schweida was advised a warning would be placed on the colt for its racing manners.
 
BOLD COMIC – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m, shifted out abruptly after becoming awkwardly placed on heels.
 
ABOUNDING – Began awkwardly.
 
MIXED SPICE – Raced wide throughout.
 
Following the running of Race 8, the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.
 
Race 9:ASCOT GREEN LOUGH NEAGH STAKES 1400 M
 
SCALLOPINI – Over raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co trainer M. Hoysted was also at a loss to explain the performance of the gelding however, they intended to have the stable veterinarian examine SCALLOPINI in the following days and would advise Stewards if anything was to come to light.
 
IRISH SONGS – Over raced in the early stages. Passing the 500m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
THE BIG GOODBYE – Momentarily held up from clear running on entering the home straight.
 
VINCO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MILITARY EXPERT – Began awkwardly. Jockey B. Thompson reported to Stewards that his mount travelled well throughout but when asked for an effort in the home straight, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative T. Pollard reported that the performance of the gelding was disappointing and looked to report back on the condition of MILITARY EXPERT in the days subsequent.
 
ZOUSHACK – Stood flat footed. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised a warning would be placed on ZOUSHACK for its barrier manners.
 
Race 10: EVA AIR EVERGREEN OPEN QUALITY HANDICAP 1810 M
 
GREAT HOUSE (IRE) – Lost near-fore shoe in running.
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
ROUSSEAU – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure.
 
JETTY – Laid in over the concluding stages resulting in rider R. Dolan having to take corrective measures.
