SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight’s:
Race 2 – M. Cahill +0.5kg
Race 7 – J. Orman +0.5kg
 
As Jockey V. Duric was unable to make the allocated weight in race 7, he was replaced on RUSSIAN ALLIANCE by M. Du Plessis. Jockey V. Duric was reprimanded pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
Race 1: SKY RACING CLASS 3 PLATE 1000 M
 
DEVASTATING – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
LIBERTY STEPS – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. Lost off-hind plate.
 
THE FIXER – Trainer J. Bruce advised Stewards a change of tactics and THE FIXER would attempt to be ridden more conservatively from a wide barrier. Ridden accordingly. Raced greenly leaving the 600m.  
 
INTRODUCING – When asked to comment on today’s performance Jockey M. Rodd stated that his mount didn’t begin well but wasn’t disappointing in today’s run. He also added that the gelding may appreciate a step up in distance.
 
BARASSI – Apprentice C. Graham reported on return to scale that after her mount was slow into stride and she had to make use of her mount in the early stages to take up a position outside the leader. She stated she was unable to fully cross and take up a position on the rail, so she elected to try and ride her mount where comfortable but on straightening, her mount failed to respond as expected. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
TIGER SHARK – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice B. Wheeler stated he was not disappointed with the filly’s effort today and in his opinion would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
 
BERNICE'S SPIRIT – Began awkwardly.
 
After the running of Race 1, the track was downgraded to a Soft 5 retrospectively.
 
Race 2: BAKER REFRIGERATION OPEN HANDICAP - WEIGHTS RAISED 2KG   2200 M
 
REGAL LION (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 2000m to the inside of CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR). J. Byrne rider of CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR) was reminded to allow greater racing room to inside runners.
 
BONNY EZRA (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
CAPRICE DES DIEUX (FR) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages of the event. Leaving the 1100m shifted wider and was permitted to stride forward to the position outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
RED WAVE – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1600m.
 
WARP SPEED – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey S. Collett reported the gelding felt one paced, she was satisfied with its performance but lacked a finishing effort when the pace quickened.
 
Race 3: MOUNT FRANKLIN LIGHTLY SPARKLING BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
FASTCONI – Over raced during the early stages.
 
KIPLING'S JOURNEY – Became awkwardly placed on heels upon entering the home straight.
 
ALAMIRA – Raced wide throughout.
 
STARRY EYES – Raced wide throughout.
 
TALK TIME – Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
BAD EDUCATION – Raced wide throughout. Near the 600m, was bumped by OCEAN ZAR.
 
REGAL EDITION – Slow to begin. Held up on entering the home straight.
 
MORE TROUBLE (NZ) – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated his mount pulled hard during the early stages of the event and in his opinion would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
OCEAN ZAR – Near the 600m, shifted out and contacted BAD EDUCATION.
 
NICKELBACK – Raced in restricted room approaching the 500m.
 
DAMIANI – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be stepping short exhibiting signs of muscle soreness. Trainer G. Ryan was advised DAMIANI would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
DRIALLE – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: YOUTH EMPOWERMENT BY THE CAGE BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600 M
 
WAPITI – Jockey N. Beriman was fined $300 pursuant to AR 132(5) for using her whip on 16 occasions totality.
 
RED TOP – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 150m, was disappointed for a run and shifted inwards. Approaching the 100m, shifted in and contacted DARK HARMONY.
 
SPECIAL SWEY (NZ) – Over raced during the early stages.
 
BAANONE (NZ) – Near the 100m, had to be steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of DARK HARMONY when that runner was bumped and forced inwards by RED TOP. Jockey A. Mallyon, rider of RED TOP was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
HOLSTEIN – Slow into stride.  
 
DARK HARMONY – Approaching the 100m, was bumped by RED TOP and became unbalanced.
 
Race 5: FRESH SELECTIONS GREEN THUMBS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1805 M
 
LATELY (NZ) – Slow to begin. When racing keenly had to be steadied from heels at the 1000m. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer B. Smith stated that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the track conditions at its previous start and appreciated the tempo of today’s race and the increased distance.
 
SIR LORD – Raced wide throughout.
 
JOE MAMA (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages. Over raced in the middle stages of the event.
 
PRINCETON AWARD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
VIADELAMORE (IRE) – Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300m was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
SACRED FEELING (NZ) – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey J. Orman stated that he was satisfied with the mare’s performance but may not have let down as expected in the home straight. He also added in his opinion the mare may benefit from a step up in distance.
 
PRICKLY POPPY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
WHISTLING SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m point.
 
Race 6: HEART OF THE COMMUNITY CLASS 6 PLATE 1400 M
 
BEAN FOGGY – Raced very keenly passing the 900m.
 
HE'S HEAVEN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed muscle soreness. Trainer D. Forster was advised HE’S HEAVEN would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
SELLING SUNSET – Slow to begin.
 
OUTLAWED – Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m and could not be fully tested over the concluding stages.
 
TICK TOCK QUEEN – Passing the 200m raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of TOJAKI which laid in.
 
SHE MINE – Laid in during the early stages. Jockey S. Collett reported at scale her mount proved very disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Ryan was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for the poor performance.
 
Race 7: COMMUNITY CO BENCHMARK 88 HANDICAP         1200 M
 
LOST IN TRANSIT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow post-race recovery.
 
RELEASE THE BEANS – Hampered at the start.

ROCKRIBBED – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race leaving the 900m and was shifted wider on the track. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
RUSSIAN ALLIANCE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MAGNUS BELLAGIO. Improved onto heels leaving the 900m and shifted wider. Continued to over race for a short distance afterwards. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that passing the 600m his mount dipped. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CRAZY TRAIN – Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m when ROCKRIBBED shifted in under riding. Apprentice T. Fenlon rider of ROCKRIBBED was advised to exercise greater care in future.
 
XPRESSO – Leaving the 900m was bumped and taken wider and raced wide from that point onwards. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 300m.
 
MAGNUS BELLAGIO – Bumped after the start.
 
Race 8: LADBROKES ASCOT QUALITY HANDICAP 1000 M
 
ZARASTRO – Raced wide throughout. Jockey J. Orman reported that in his opinion his mount may have choked down during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan was advised to report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent.
 
ALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
PETRONIUS – Jockey M. Rodd reported it wasn’t his intention to settle as far forward however, his mount took hold in the early stages of the event.
 
NETTUNO – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels approaching the 700m and shifted wider.
 
RED RUBI – Hampered after the start. Had to be steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
After the running of Race 8, the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.
 
Race 9: JONES & CO IGA DAYBREAK LOVER 1400 M
 
ENCODER – Near the 1300m, taken inwards and had to be steadied when VOLCANIC LOVE was forced inwards by FLYWHEEL. Jockey N. Callow rider of FLYWHEEL was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Raced wide throughout.
 
TRANSATLANTIC – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRESS LINK (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 1000m. Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Became awkward in its stride passing the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CAPTAIN FENKEL – Jockey V. Duric was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
NORTH OF ELI – Approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of ESKIMO which shifted out under pressure.
 
PURVEYOR – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
EDITED BY – Leaving the 1200m, shifted in and away from MAKENA.
 
VOLCANIC LOVE – Began awkwardly. Near the 1300m, was taken inwards to avoid the heels of FLYWHEEL. Raced keenly near the 1000m. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRAVELY – Began awkwardly.
 
EASY DUN – Slow to begin. Near the 1300m momentarily had to be steadied from the heels of ENCODER when that runner was taken inwards by outside runners. Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied from heels.
 
CONNEWARRE – Jockey J. Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
FLYWHEEL – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
TRIFLING – Raced in restricted room near the 1200m when MAKENA shifted inwards. Jockey J. Bayliss rider of MAKENA was advised to exercise greater care in future. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
