Race 1: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP       1815 M
 
SOLAR APEX – Approaching the 400m, shifted out in an attempt to improve and bumped CONNECTICUT.
 
COMMODUS – Trainer M. Sues advised Stewards of a change of tacticstoday, in that COMMODUS would be ridden with cover if circumstances permitted. Settled in a rearward position with cover. Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DARK HARMONY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CONNECTICUT – Approaching the 400m, was bumped by SOLAR APEX. When asked to comment regarding the performance of gelding, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor commented that in his opinion CONNETICUT did not appreciate the quick back up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
LONG GENES – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Jockey R. Maloney stated, that in his opinion, LONG GENES may not have been suited to the step up in distance of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
 
NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Raced ungenerously in the early stages’ whist being restrained to obtain a position with cover. Continued to over race until leaving the 1400m. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         2400 M
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
CLYDE – Began awkwardly.
 
HELEVA DEEL – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event when the pace of the race steadied.
 
A DEEL OF HUMOUR - Over-raced during the middle stages of the event when the pace of the race steadied.
 
HADOUKEN – Laid out from the 500m. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported at scale that HADOUKEN hung out from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer P. Robl was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to HADOUKEN racing again.
 
BAK DA MAN (NZ) - Over-raced during the middle stages of the event when the pace of the race steadied.
 
IRIDESSA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
PORT MOURANT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event when the pace of the race steadied.
 
SHEZADANDI - Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Improved onto heels approaching the 900m when the pace of the race steadied and had to be eased. Held up on entering the home straight.
 
 
 
Race 3: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP       1200 M
 
HAMILTON BROWN – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
BRUTAL BOWLER – Slow to begin. Near the 600m, shifted out abruptly. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
I'M ZAC – Connections advised Stewards of a change of tactics today, in that from a wide barrier I'M ZAC will attempt to be ridden more conservatively. Settled in a rearward position with cover. Began awkwardly. Approaching the 500m, was obliged to steady from the heels of BRUTAL BOWLER which shifted in after being corrected by its rider.
 
VALLEY OF OWLS – Severely hampered and taken wider leaving the 600m.
 
 
Race 4: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP         1400 M
 
BRENTWOOD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
 
EVOCATOR – Slow to begin. Over raced during the middle stages. Held up approaching the 200m.
 
WINSTON SMURFHILL (NZ) – Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post and had to be mindful of the heels of SCENTIFY, which shifted in under pressure. Jockey R. Dolan the rider of SCENTIFY was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when shifting ground in similar circumstances. 
 
POETIC DRAMA (NZ) – Bumped at the start and lost ground.
 
SMYTZER – Shifted in at the start and bumped POETIC DRAMA (NZ). Over raced during the early stages.
 
STARRY EYES – Raced wide with cover throughout. Passing the 200m, dipped. Following the running of this race Stewards inspected the section of the track near the 200m. A post -race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SUNSET SOIREE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m between IN EVIDENCE and MOONAN ME. As a result, Jockey A. Jones was obliged to shift wider, to a position in the middle of the track passing the 100m.
 
EXTRAORDINAIRE (FR) – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BLAZEN BOOTS (NZ) – Lost both hind plates enroute to the barriers. After consulting Trainer T. Gollan, Stewards permitted BLAZEN BOOTS (NZ) to race barefoot behind. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover until approaching the 800m.
 
Race 5: TOM TRESTON BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP         1300 M
 
SNEAK PREVIEW – Slow to begin.
 
IRISH PLAYBOY– Bumped shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
NEVER NO MORE (IRE) – Raced in restricted room inside the 100m.
 
SWISS EXILE – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, Jockey R. Maloney stated that SWISS EXILE was inclined to over race and was disappointing in its finishing effort. Trainers representative T. Pollard commented that SWISS EXILE proved disappointing today and may not have appreciated the step up in distance. He added that the stable would report back to Stewards on the condition of SWISS EXILE in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MAGIC CHARLEE – Trainer M. Currie reported that the gelding would now be retired.
 
BETTCHA THE CROWN – Raced wide.
 
NASHIRA – Raced wide.
 
TARA JASMINE – Awkward to begin.
 
OUR MAGNUS – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped IRISH PLAYBOY. Raced wide.

Race 6: LADBROKES MICK DITTMAN PLATE         1000 M
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice C. Graham the rider of CHAKRA BOY to view the Stewards patrol footage in the home straight to ascertain if there were grounds for an objection. After declining to do so, correct weight was declared on the judges numbers.
 
CHAKRA BOY - Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m. Approaching the winning post had to be steadied when crowded for room between HIP HIP HURRAH and TIGER SHARK, which shifted in under pressure. Apprentice B. Wheeler, the rider of TIGER SHARK, in the presence of Senior Jockey, J. Huxtable, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant AR 131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in, when insufficiently clear of CHAKRA BOY. As a result of this shift, CHAKRA BOY had to be eased and lost its rightful running. Apprentice B. Wheeler’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days, commencing midnight the 4th of May 2024 and concluding at midnight the 17th of May 2024. Apprentice B. Wheeler was informed of his right to appeal.
 
IT'S RAINING AGAIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly approaching the home turn.
 
ENCUBIERTO – Slow to begin.
 
ABOUNDING – Raced wide throughout.
 
SKIRT THE LAW – When asked to comment, Jockey V. Duric stated that the filly travelled well early, however was disappointing when asked for an effort in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in its off hindleg. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that SKIRT THE LAW will require a veterinary clearance prior racing again.
 
MALABOOM - Trainer M. Dale advised Stewards of a change of tactics today, in that MALABOOM would be ridden with cover if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly. Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m. Laid in rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
 
HIP HIP HURRAH – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: XXXX BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
GO WANDJI – Sustained a superficial laceration to its near hindleg during transportation. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was passed fit to start. Restrained from a wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
GREYWORM – Raced wide throughout.
 
VODKA MARTINI – Near the 800m shifted in and away from OSAMU. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BRING ME KASH – Jockey D. Smith reported that his mount laid out rounding the home turn.

FRILLED – Jockey J. Orman reported at scale that his mount failed to travel at any stage and when placed under pressure in the home straight, weakened noticeably. Trainer M. Smith was asked to report back to Stewards on the condition of FRILLED in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MAXIMUM OUTPUT – Near the 800m, had to be checked from the heels of VODKA MARTINI which shifted in and away from OSAMU who improved to the outside of that runner.
 
BLUE SPINEL – Raced wide for the majority.
 
LIQUOR – Awkward to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
 
BEZIQUE – Jockey V. Duric reported at scale that his mount over raced throughout the event which was detrimental to BEZIQUE’s ability to finish off the race.
 
 
Race 8: MORETON HIRE BRISBANE MILE QUALITY HANDICAP         1600 M
 
JIMI HENDRIX (IRE) – Leaving the 300m, was obliged to shift out to improve.
 
OSCAR ZULU - Raced wide during the early stages.
 
WILLIAMSBURG - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of a slow recovery.
 
JIMMYSSTAR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Dolan reported at scale that his mounts head was slightly turned on jumping and was slow to begin, and as a result had to settle further back than anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
 
LONDON BANKER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
WAPITI – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
AVENUE OF STARS – Slow to begin.
 
RUSSIAN WARRIOR – Approaching the 300m, shifted in under pressure and became awkwardly placed at the heels of OSCAR ZULU.
 
 
Race 9: AQUIS STALLIONS PRINCESS STAKES         1600 M
 
EXOTIQUE MISS – Race wide.
 
MISS JOELENE – Inconvenienced when leaving the 1000m.
 
RED DEFCON – Slow to begin. Held up from the 400m until the 300m.
 
PIER PRESSURE – Approaching the 1200m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of AMAZONIAN LASS. Near the 1000m, when over racing shifted out momentarily before being corrected by its rider.
 
OCEANS OF ENERGY – Approaching the 1200m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. Near the 1000m clipped the heels of PIER PRESSURE which shifted out momentarily when over racing, resulting in OCEANS OF ENEGY blundering. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MARE OF MT BULLER – Raced wide.
 
SHOWDRA – Raced wide. Near the 1000m was inconvenienced when OCEANS OF ENERGY shifted in. Approaching the150m had to be steadied from the heels of OCEANS OF ENERGY, which shifted out when weakening.
 
WAIKATO GIRL (NZ) – Near the 1000m had to be checked when taken inwards by OCEANS OF ENERGY.
 
FIRESTORM (NZ) – Near the 1000m had to be checked off the heels of WAIKATO GIRL (NZ).
 
WONDERLAND STAR – Hampered on jumping. Jockey R. Rodd reported that he made contact with the outside barrier partition on jumping.
 
MISS CHENERY – Raced wide. Inconvenienced leaving the 1000m.
 
KENYADA – Raced in restricted room from the 400m until the 300m.
 
AERIAL DANCER – Near the 1000m had to be checked from heels of WAIKATO GIRL (NZ), which was bumped and taken inwards.
