SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

All runners in the Aquis Stallion Sire’s Produce Stakes, Kingsford Smith Cup and Queensland Derby underwent veterinary inspections on Friday the 31st of May 2024 and were cleared to race.

GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 9 – J. Orman +0.5kg

Race 1: THE STAR BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600 M

LINTHORPE LAD – Raced wide throughout. Taken out wider near the 500m when SUNSET SOIREE shifted out abruptly.

COMMODUS – Slow to begin.

BETTCHA THE CROWN – Raced very keenly in the early stages. Near the 1200m was obliged to steady from the heels of TOJAKI and was forced wider. Continued to race ungenerously for some distance after.

TENZING (NZ) – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Schiller stated that after his mount didn’t begin as well as expected and as a result settled further back than anticipated, TENZING (NZ) failed to let down in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

BASARWA (NZ) – Had to be re-shod on arrival to the course and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. Shortly after the start shifted out abruptly. Jockey A. Mallyon reported at scale that it wasn’t his intention to lead today’s event but shortly after jumping away, his mount shifted out abruptly and as such continued to push forward to obtain a leading position.

EVOCATOR – Near the 700m, raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of LINTHORPE LAD. Held up rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m. Raced in restricted room over the final 50m after being carried in by POISION CHALICE (NZ) which shifted in under pressure.

BEEF WEEK PRINCESS – Had to be re-shod on arrival to the course and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start.

SUNSET SOIREE – Very slow to begin. Near the 700m, shifted out abruptly to secure clear running. Jockey A. Jones’ pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 9 times prior to the 100m (15 strikes totality). Jockey A. Jones’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, commencing midnight 8/6/2024 up to and including midnight 15/06/2024.

Race 2: HKJC BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 M

OUGHTON – Shifted in approaching the 200m. Laid out approaching the finishing line.

PARTY FOR ONE – Raced in restricted room near the 1100m.

COTTEE – Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line and was obliged to steady her mount from the heels of OUGHTON which shifted out marginally and CRAZY TRAIN which was taken in by GERIAXTRIX. Jockey M. Dee rider of GERIATRIX was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) in that he did not stop and straighten his mount earlier to prevent it from shifting. Jockey J. Stanley rider of OUGHTON was also reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.

BLACKLOG (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

WARBY – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey B. Shinn stated in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated todays track conditions. Trainer T. Gollan advised he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CRAZY TRAIN – Raced wide throughout. Taken inwards approaching the finishing line when GERIATRIX shifted in.

GERIATRIX – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under hard riding over the final 100m.

CENTRE BOUNCE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SHA OF GOMER – Held up in the early part of the home straight and had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 300m.

STARZAM – Slow to begin. Raced very keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 1100m, restrained to avoid heels and continued to over race for some distance.

Race 3: LIVING TURF PREMIER'S CUP 2400 M

KNIGHTS ORDER (IRE) – Raced wide early. Jockey A. Hyeronimus was examined by the club doctor after complaining of back pain and was subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.

SELINO (GB) – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

KING FRANKEL (IRE) – Raced wide early. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ALEGRON – Slow to begin.

DUNE FORTY FIVE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

LONDON BANKER (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Improved onto heels leaving the 200m and was obliged to shift wider into clear running.

TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin.

OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin.

Race 4: SKY RACING LORD MAYOR'S CUP 1800 M

CLEVELAND (IRE) – Trainer advised a change of tactics and CLEVELAND would attempt to be ridden more conservatively from a wide barrier. Ridden accordingly. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey M. Dee stated his mount travelled well throughout however failed to let down as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ADELAIDE RIVER (IRE) – Trainer advised a change of tactics and ADELAIDE RIVER (IRE) would attempt to be ridden more conservatively from a wide barrier. Ridden accordingly. Over raced in the early stages. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey D. Gibbons stated that his mount had a tendency to lay in throughout the event and was placed under pressure from 800m. He further added that the horse would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer K. Lee’s was advised they must obtain a veterinary clearance inclusive of ECG results prior to the horse being permitted to race again.

LUNCIES (GB) – Near the 400m, bumped with CONVERGE.

KNIGHT’S CHOICE – Trainer S. Laxon was reprimanded pursuant to AR 194 for failing to present her horse in the mount yard by the prescribed time.

CONVERGE – Near the 400m, bumped with LUNCIES (GB)

JIMI HENDRIX (IRE) – Momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of EAGLEMONT (IRE).

TERRITORY EXPRESS – Slow to begin.

SHOCK 'EM OVA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides near the 1700m. Steadied near the 1600m and over raced for a short distance after. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey C. Williams stated that in his opinion his mount did not appreciate today’s track conditions but would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

MAGNASPIN – Raced wide early. Over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

EAGLEMONT (IRE) – Momentarily forced wider approaching the 1600m. Raced in restricted room near the 350m and steadied.

Race 5: AQUIS STALLIONS SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES 1400 M

BROADSIDING – Restrained from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Raced wide throughout.

BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Approaching the 1100m, had to be checked when tightened for running by JEMOMA ALPILAGE which shifted in and away from ANGEL CAPITAL who was carried in by BARBARIC LAD. Raced wide throughout. Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances which led to BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) having to be checked passing the 1100m to allow all jockeys to be present. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SUPERALLOY – Laid in approaching the 1200m before being corrected and as a result shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout.

ZOUNA – Restrained from a wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Raced wide throughout.

CAN'T RECALL ONE (NZ) – Slow to muster early speed.

HEAVENLY IMPACT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SMASHING TIME – Momentarily held up rounding the home straight.

COSMIC FIRE – Lost near hind plate.

BARBARIC LAD – Approaching the 1200m, was obliged to steady when having to avoid the heels of SUPERALLOY which shifted out abruptly. Passing the 600m, shifted out carrying ZOUNA wider.

EL MORZILLO – Approaching the 200m, was obliged to alter course and shift in to improve. Lost near fore plate.

PROVANCE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 6: MULLINS LAWYERS FRED BEST CLASSIC 1400 M

CIFRADO – Over raced in the early stages. Shifted in and bumped CORNICHE near the 1250m. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 300m, raced greenly, shifted out and bumped SCHWARZ. Trainer R. Lipp stated that in his opinion did not handle todays track conditions and is better suited on top of the ground.

CHRYSAOR – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after. Carried wider rounding the home turn when STEPARTY shifted wider to improve.

STEPARTY – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily shifted in near the 600m.

CORNICHE – Bumped and became unbalanced near the 1250m. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey C. Williams stated in his opinion the colt did not appreciate today’s track conditions and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SCHWARZ – Raced ungenerously near the 1000m. Buffered between runners approaching the 300m.

GOLDEN DECADE – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 200m by ROLL ON HIGH which shifted in under hard riding.

BASES LOADED – Raced wide throughout. Bumped leaving the 300m. Approaching the 200m was carried in by ROLL ON HIGH which shifted in under hard riding. Jockey V. Duric rider of ROLL ON HIGH was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.

RHYTHM OF LOVE – Raced wide throughout.

ROLL ON HIGH – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 7: EVA AIR KINGSFORD SMITH CUP 1300 M

TUVALU – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection at the request of the trainer after it was observed to be coughing and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:53pm on veterinary advice. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on TUVALU be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – 4c win, 4c place.
2nd – 5c place
3rd – 5c place

Trainer L. Smith was advised TUVALU would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of endoscopic results prior to racing again.

I WISH I WIN (NZ) – Rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped MAGIC TIME. Laid in under pressure.

UNCOMMON JAMES – Had difficulty pulling his whip on entering the home straight after becoming tangled in his reins.

ANTINO (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Near the 700m, momentarily became awkward in its stride.

OSIPENKO (NZ) – Shortly after the start, raced in restricted room between IN SECRET and ESPINOA which laid in before being corrected. Rounding the home turn, bumped with ESPINOA.

BELLA NIPOTINA – Laid out between the 200m and 100m.

IN SECRET – Began awkwardly.

MAGIC TIME – Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn was bumped by MAGIC TIME. Lost off fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on its near hind leg.

ESPIONA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Rounding the home turn, bumped with OSIPENKO. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 8: LADBROKES QUEENSLAND DERBY 2400 M

TANNHAUSER – Trainers representative B. Killion stated that the gelding may not have run out the 2400m and would now most likely be sent for a spell. Jockey N. Rawiller reported the gelding travelled well throughout but did not appreciate today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative B. Killion was advised TANNHAUSER would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

WARMONGER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

ENCODER – Hampered on jumping.

GOLD BULLION (NZ) – Co Trainer A. Bott advised a change of tactics and GOLD BULLION intends to lead if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Tired considerably rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

NAVY KING (NZ) – Over raced during the early stages. Inconvenienced on entering the home straight. When questioned regarding tactics adopted in today’s event, Jockey C. Williams stated his mount raced fierce throughout and failed to settle at any stage during the event. Stewards intend to follow up with the condition of NAVY KING (NZ) in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

FELIX THE SCAT – Raced wide throughout.

SONOFDEC – Made the crossing awkwardly on the first occasion. Raced wide throughout.

WARIALDA WARRIOR – Hampered shortly after jumping.

FIRST INNINGS (NZ) – Over raced leaving the finishing post on the first occasion and was steadied from heels. Lost near hind plate.

SHY GUY – Trainer’s representative for C. Waller advised a change of tactics and SHY GUY would be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Settled just off the pace.

SABAN – Began awkwardly.

PURVEYOR – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.

MOONLIGHT MAGIC (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

AUTUMN ANGEL – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey M. Zahra reported the filly raced flat in today’s event and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Co trainer K. Coleman reported it was now their likely intention to send AUTUMN ANGEL for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination no apparent abnormalities.

Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS HELEN COUGHLAN STAKES 1200 M

REVOLUTIONARY MISS – Raced wide throughout.

BUBBLE ROCK (USA) – Raced wide throughout.

AUREUS ANGEL – Restrained from a wide barrier in an attempt to find cover. Raced wide throughout.

ESSONNE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.

FACILE – When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Clark stated his mount travelled in the inferior going and when placed under pressure commenced to weaken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CHINNY BOOM – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer C. Taylor stated in his opinion CHINNY BOOM raced in the inferior part of the track at Doomben last start. He also added that the mare had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and wasn’t surprised with today’s forward showing.

MISS HELLFIRE – Raced wide throughout.

ENTERPRISE POMME – Held up from the early stages of the home straight until the finishing post and was unable to be fully tested.

BLUE SPINEL – Slow to begin.

HIP HIP HURRAH – Over raced in the early stages. Momentarily steadied near the 900m from the heels of REVOLUTIONARY MISS.
