SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Eagle Farm 1/6/2024 Race 5 Sires Produce Stakes
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the interference suffered to BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) passing the 1100m. After hearing evidence from riders A. Hyeronimous (BEAU DAZZLER), V. Duric (JEMOMA APLIAGE) M. Zahra (ANGEL CAPITAL) L. Currie (BARBARIC LAD), L. Currie rider of BARBARIC LAD pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 1100m, he permitted BARARIC LAD to shift in to obtain a position closer to the running rail and in doing so, carried ANGEL CAPITAL in onto JEMOMA ALPILAGE who was tightened in onto BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) who made heavy contact with the running rail, was forced to check and lose its rightful running. Jockey Currie’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight 29/6/2024 up to and including midnight 8/7/2024. Mr Currie was advised of his appeal rights.

Race 1: TATTERSALL'S LIFE MEMBERS QTIS 3YO Fillies Plate 1200 metres
PURE PARADISE – Shifted in on jumping.
TIGER SHARK – Laid out during the early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by OUTWEIGHED which shifted out when placed under pressure.
CIGAR FLICK – Hampered shortly after jumping.
OUTWEIGHED – Over raced in the early stages. Jockey S. Cormack reported at scale that in his opinion the filly proved disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
BRIGHT BLONDE – Hampered shortly after jumping by CASSIERE which shifted out and PURE PARADISE which shifted in.
CASSIERE (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping.
Race 2: IMPRESSU PRINT GROUP TATTERSALL'S STAKES 1400 metres
HEINOUS – Declared a late scratching at 11:58am on veterinary advice after the filly was found to be lame in its near foreleg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on HEINOUS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – DEPTH OF CHARACTER 26c win, 12c place.
2nd – STEEL STRIKE 21c place
3rd – MAILI 29c place
Trainer J. Warren was advised HEINOUS would require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to start in a race or trial again.
DEPTH OF CHARACTER – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room at the 1000m. Over raced in the middle stages. Disappointed for a run passing the 300m and was obliged to shift in to improve.
STEEL STRIKE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently cleared to start. Laid out rounding the home turn and on entering the home straight.
TERRITORY ASH – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MISS TRUSTFUL – As Jockey R. Maloney was unable to make the allocated weight he was replaced by D. Gibbons. Jockey R. Maloney was fined $500 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides leaving the 300m.
JULIETA – Approaching the 1000m was bumped by DEPTH OF CHARACTER and was then steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MAILI which shifted inwards when awkwardly placed at the heels of STEEL STRIKE.
BLANTONS RUN – Began awkwardly. Due to Jockey M. Du Plessis being transported to hospital after the running of race 2, he was unable to weigh in. Acting under AR 208(3)(b) Stewards declared correct weight. Jockey M. Du Plessis was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.
RUN LUCY RUN – Whilst racing in restricted room passing the 1100m, commenced to over race. Had to be eased from heels approaching the 1000m when MISS TRUSTFUL shifted in. Jockey D. Gibbons was advised to exercise greater care in future. Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: EDWARD STREET BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1200 metres
GO WANDJI – Began awkwardly.
SEA RAIDER – Laid in approaching the 600m. Jockey M. Rodd reported his mount had a tendency to lay in during various stages of the event.
PIZARRO – Approaching the 600m momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of SEA RAIDER which shifted in and had to be steadied from heels.
DEVIL'S THROAT – Began awkwardly and had to be checked shortly after jumping after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of HIDDEN WEALTH. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides after NASHIRA shifted in to obtain a position closer to the running rail. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
HIDDEN WEALTH – Bumped at the start.
NASHIRA – Raced wide in the early stages. Leaving the 100m whilst weakening, had to be steadied from the heels of DEVIL’S THROAT which shifted out under pressure.
SAFEWORK – Tightened for room and had to checked passing the 200m when PIZARRO shifted out under riding. Jockey J. Orman rider of PIZARRO was charged and pleaded guilty to careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 250m whilst riding his mount along, he permitted PIZARRO to shift out, taking the rightful running of SAFEWORK causing that runner to be tightened for room and obliging its rider to check SAFEWORK from the heels of PIZARRO. Jockey J. Ormans licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, commencing midnight 6/7/2024 up to and including midnight 14/7/2024 Jockey J. Orman was advised of his right to appeal.
NANAGUI – Held up approaching the home turn.
Race 4: 2024 LADBROKES BATTLE OF THE BUSH FINAL NMW-Last 2
Yrs Qlty Hcp (SC) 1200 metres
The start of this race was delayed owing to MOSCINI proving difficult to load. Trainer D. Groves was advised MOSCINI would be required obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
ART BY CONCORDE – Over raced in the middle stages. Improved onto heels approaching the 500m and had to be steadied.
OFFICE JIM – Raced three wide without cover. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200m.
RUBY JULY – Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied from the heels AHWAHNEECHEE which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice G. Semmens was advised to show greater care when allowing her mounts to shift ground. Passing the 350m had to be checked to avoid the heels of AHWAHNEECHEE which shifted out when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice G. Semmens rider of AHWAHNEECHEE was charged and pleaded guilty to careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that passing the 350m, she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of RUBY JULY (R. Wiggins), causing that runner to be checked from the heels of AHWAHNEECHEE. Apprentice G. Semmens licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 2/7/2024 up to and concluding midnight 12/7/2024. Apprentice G. Semmens was advised of her right to appeal.
AHWAHNEECHEE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Shifted out under riding in the home straight.
REBEL SALUTE – As Jockey M. McDonald was unable to make the allocated weight, he was replaced by R. Jones. Jockey M. McDonald was fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
MOSCINI – Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m.
LAURIE – Improved onto heels approaching the 500m. Approaching the 100m, obliged to alter course and shift out to improve.
LIEUTENANT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
MASTERPLAN – Raced wide with cover throughout. Approaching the 900m, raced in restricted room to the inside of OFFICE JIM which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey L. Tilley rider of OFFICE JIM was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
THATFEELSBETTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
FIRE KING – Leaving the 1000m, raced in restricted room to the inside of ART BY CONCORDE.
Race 5: HMW GROUP TATTERSALL'S GOLD CROWN 2143 metres
DENY KNOWLEDGE (IRE) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
THALASSOPHILE – Hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
PRINCESS RHAENYS – Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start. Laid out throughout the event.
AWESOME WONDER (IRE) – Raced wide throughout.
BELLACIAOCIAO (FR) – Hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
OUR MARYANNE – Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels.
ARTFUL GIRL – Began awkwardly, shifted out contacting THALASSOPHILE. Raced wide in the early stages.
MISSION OF LOVE – Over raced in the early stages.
SUNSET SOIREE – Raced wide throughout.
OLD SONG – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
EXTRAORDINAIRE (FR) – Hampered shortly after the start. Over raced in the early stages.
Race 6: MOTORAMA TATTERSALL'S CUP 2400 metres
VOW AND DECLARE –Jockey B. Egan pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 10 times prior to the 100m. Jockey B. Egan was fined $1000 and his license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, commencing midnight 29/6/2024 up to and including 9/7/2024. Jockey B. Egan was advised of his appeal rights.
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin.
SPIRIT RIDGE (GB) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight up until the 300m. Near the 200m improved onto heels and had to be steadied for a short distance.
KNIGHT'S CHOICE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 200m improved onto heels and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
LONDON BANKER (NZ) – Passing the 1800m, steadied after improving onto heels.
ALMAIRAC (IRE) – Commenced to over race whilst being steadied approaching the 1600m.
ENCODER – Stewards permitted ENCODER to race without the Tongue Tie after it was unable to be fitted on the gelding. Passing the 1800m, steadied after improving onto heels.
Race 7: TATTERSALL'S MILE 1600 metres
CEPHEUS (GB) – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
NEW MANDATE (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
JIMI HENDRIX (IRE) – Hampered after the start.
MARACANA (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
JETTY (J Bayliss) – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure leaving the 600m. When questioned regarding tactics adopted in today’s event, Jockey J. Bayliss advised that he had previously ridden the gelding in a forward position in its last preparation and from a wider draw it was his intention to settle further forward than it had at its previous start. He further added that whilst it wasn’t his intention to lead, he felt the gelding travelled comfortably until placed under pressure approaching the home turn where it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Trainer C. Munce confirmed the instructions and advised he was somewhat disappointed with the gelding’s performance, and he would report back in the days subsequent regarding the condition of the gelding. Stewards noted the explanation of rider J. Bayliss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
COCOBREW EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout.
MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
COTTEE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 8: TATTERSALL'S TIARA 1400 metres
BELLA NIPOTINA – Raced wide throughout.
SEMANA – Raced three wide with cover. Over raced during the middle stages. Leaving the 1100m, raced in restricted room between BELLA NIPOTINA and COCO JAMBOO (IRE) which was over racing to its inside and shifted out.
ROOTS – Raced three wide with cover.
OPAL RIDGE (T Berry) – Bumped and carried wider rounding the home turn by BANANA QUEEN. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with Trainer L. Pepper regarding OPAL RIDGE’s condition in the days subsequent.
COMRADE ROSA – Raced three wide with cover.
VIENNA PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
C'EST MAGIQUE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey B. Shinn reported that the mare over raced throughout and refused to settle, in his opinion this had a detrimental effect on the mares’ finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
LEKVARTE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m, improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
AUSBRED FLIRT – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide with cover.
MORE SECRETS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. Approaching the winning post, raced in restricted room to the inside of COCO JAMBOO (IRE) which laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
ZOE'S PROMISE – Lost its off-fore shoe during the event.
COCO JAMBOO (IRE) – Leaving the 1100m commenced to over race and when awkwardly placed at the heels of OPAL RIDGE shifted out. Laid in approaching the winning post.
ROLL ON HIGH – Raced keenly when awkwardly placed at heels near the 1000m.
ABOUNDING – Restrained from an outside barrier to take up a position closer to the rail. Over raced during the middle stages of the event. Passing the 700m became awkward in its stride whilst racing in restricted room.
MISS JOELENE – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
BANANA QUEEN – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200m after ABOUNDING shifted in under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Race 9: EUREKA STUD W.J. HEALY STAKES 1200 metres
The start of this event was delayed approximately 6 minutes owing to ZARASTRO and WHAT YOU NEED both needing to be reshod behind the barriers. Both horses underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were subsequently cleared to start.
PRINCE OF BOOM – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey T. Clark stated the horse raced wide without cover and over raced and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Lost its near fore plate during the event. Stewards intend to follow up with Trainer R. Heathcote regarding the gelding’s condition in the days subsequent.
ALL THAT PIZZAZZ – Began awkwardly. Raced wide with cover. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Jockey R. Maloney stated that he was disappointed in today’s performance and that his mount travelled well until shortly after entering the home straight and weakened under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
THE BIG GOODBYE – Over raced in the early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced near the 600m and had to steady from the heels of IOWNA MERC.
ZARASTRO – Began awkwardly and shifted in
SHOOTING FOR GOLD – Hampered on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
KING KAPA – Raced wide throughout.
TASHI – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
DEEPOUR – Trainer A. Campton was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. Raced wide throughout.
IOWNA MERC – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Approaching the 600m, became awkward in its action and lost ground.
WHAT YOU NEED – Slow to begin.
KA BLING – Raced wide throughout.
SWEET MARGOT MAY – Began awkwardly.
HATCHET – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
SHALAA'S MOMENT – Laid in leaving the 400m and became awkwardly placed at heels.
