AdamsStewards – G. Goold, K. Daly, A. Schofield, W. Wain, P. Reardon SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTDoomben 11th September 2024 – Race 5 – HEADLINE LEGEND – Trainer L. Freedman reported that on return to the stable, the stable veterinarian treated an eye ulcer and also reported superficial lacerations to both hindlegs. Mr Freedman also reported that he will liaise with the owners about the possibility of sending the gelding for a spell. GENERALStewards permitted the following overweights:Race 7. K. Wilson-Taylor (replacing R. Maloney) +0.5kgRace 9. K. Wilson-Taylor +1kg Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1400 Metres REIGNING ALPHA – When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, rider T. Marshall reported that REIGNING ALPHA was disappointing and may be improved by the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. WITHOUT DELAY – Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. POPE CODY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RAMP IT UP – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m was reluctant to improve into a run between MINE CART CARTAGE and WITHOUT DELAY and was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running. MINE KART CARNAGE – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages. DREAM SMART – Over raced during the early and middle stages. Rider N. Beriman reported that the filly raced flat today. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L. Birchley reported that it was his intention on return to the stables for the filly to undergo blood tests and report back to Stewards on any relevant findings. ELECTRIC BRAE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Race 2: EAGLE FARM RACING MUSEUM FILLIES & MARES NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1400 Metres CRAZY TRAIN – Hampered on jumping. Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 100m when DREAM LANTERN laid in. DIVINE PURPOSE – When asked to comment on the performance, rider J. Stanley reported that the mare was placed at a disadvantage from racing wide early and in his opinion will be suited to being ridden with cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. LAYDOWNLILY – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. PIPISTRELLE – Over raced during the early stages. LADY SHOTGUN – Slow to begin FIGMENT – As apprentice B. Wheeler was overweight, he was replaced by apprentice T. Fenlon. Apprentice Wheeler was fined $200 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Lost the near side winker passing the 200m. DREAM LANTERN – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and shifted in. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight obliging its rider to stop and straighten on a number of occasions. Race 3:SPRING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 Metres Following the running of race 2, the track was upgraded to a Good 4. JOHN RAMBO – Slow into stride. At the 800m, became awkwardly placed on the outside of the heels of TSARINA SOPHIA and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding the performance, rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported that after only beginning fairly, in his opinion his mount was not suited to the slow early tempo, failed to travel in the middle stages and was doing its best work late. Underwent a pre race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. SPIRIT QUEEN – Over raced during the early stages. BEAUTANTES – Began awkwardly and bumped BENCOOLEN. Over raced during the early and middle stages. BENCOOLEN – Bumped on jumping. DROP THE MIC – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. LORDSTER – Slow to begin. MISS TAMBO – Laid in when awkwardly placed at the heels of LUDOVISI on entering the home straight. TSARINA SOPHIA – Graham - Over raced during the early stages. LUDOVISI – Over raced during the early stages. Laid out over the concluding stages. Race 4: LUKE LOVES MARIA CLASS 3 PLATE 1800 Metres FLYING ROTHE – Approaching the 1200m, checked from heels of LINDA’S MAGIC (M. Castle) who was carried in by KOKONOTSU (E. Lang) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice E. Lang, rider of KOKONOTSU was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) and her license to ride in races was suspended for eight days commencing at midnight the 21st of September 2024 and ending at midnight the 29th of September 2024. Ms Lang was advised of her right to an appeal. Leaving the 800m, restrained from heels when laying out. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading was advised that FLYING ROTHE would be stood down from racing at Metropolitan level until the gelding establishes form at provincial or country level. TRIPLE MONEY (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. BOY LOVES TO RUN (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a poor recovery. HILLCREST AVENUE (IRE) – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. SPILLS – Bumped on jumping with HILLCREST AVENUE. LEERY – Slow to begin. LINDA’S MAGIC – Tightened by KOKONOTSU approaching the 1200m. Race 5:SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 MetresLIQUOR – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled both nostrils for the first time. Trainer’s representative for the Gollan stable was advised of the provisions of AR79(4) in that LIQUOR must not race for a period of three months and must gallop or barrier trial over 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again. KAVAK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. WANDA ROX – Raced wide throughout. BATTLEFIELD – When asked to comment on the performance, rider R. Dolan reported that in his opinion the gelding is better suited over further and has a short sprint. He added that BATTLEFIELD would be improved by the run. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. MUSCHIALLI – Approaching the 200m, momentarily inconvenienced on the heels of HEARTONI which laid in under pressure GODFATHER – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground. Raced wide throughout. Rider A. Mallyon reported that the gelding resented the cross over noseband and he had recommended to connections to remove it. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of GODFATHER. Race 6: EVA AIR CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 Metres On leaving the enclosure, PIECE OF TURF heavily contacted the fence and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.50pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on PIECE OF TURF be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1st MANHOOD 0c win, 4c place2nd TRIBECA STAR 2c place3rd CLOUDLAND 4c place A veterinary examination of PIECE OF TURF revealed an impact injury over the loin region. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of PIECE OF TURF and SURFERS ROYALE requiring a resaddle on arrival at the barriers. CLOUDLAND (NZ) – Over raced during the middle stages. EVOCATOR – Slow into stride. HE'S HEAVEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 1000m, commenced to race ungenerously when crossed by CLOUDLAND and as a result shifted three wide for the remainder. POCKET FULL – When entering the home straight, laid in when awkwardly placed at the heels on SURFERS ROYALE and continued to lay in under pressure in the home straight. TRIBECA STAR – Held up for clear running for a short distance passing the 500m. Race 7: XXXX QUALITY HANDICAP 1600 Metres VIMINELE – Very slow to begin. Over raced during the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. KIRKEBY – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MISSISSIPPI PRINCE – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after getting a leg up in the barriers and was cleared to start. LINTHORPE LAD – Near the 1100m, became awkwardly placed at heels of AWASH when that runner shifted in to obtain cover. Lost the near hind plate in running. CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Raced wide during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. AWASH – As rider R. Maloney was overweight, he was replaced by rider K. Wilson-Taylor. R. Maloney was fined $500 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Raced wide during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MENAZZI – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Race 8:LADBROKES BLACKBOOK QUALITY HANDICAP 1000 MetresFAR TOO EASY – Blundered on jumping. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RUBIQUITOUS – Laid out rounding the home turn. HIDDEN WEALTH – Over raced during the middle and restrained off heels at the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. RICHON – Over raced during the early stages. GOLDSBOROUGH (NZ) – Bumped approaching the winning post by NASHIRA which laid in under pressure. NASHIRA – Shifted in and bumped VOULAIT on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the final 50m. VOULAIT – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Raced ungenerously in the home straight. Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES NO METRO WINS HANDICAP 1400 Metres The start of this race was delayed several minutes after BOWRIDER underwent a pre race veterinary examination after kicking a fence leaving the enclosure and cleared to start. The start of this event was further delayed when POSEIDON RULER which got a leg up in the gates and also underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. WARBY – Raced wide throughout. BOWRIDER – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from heels of POSEIDON RULER near the 1000m. STARZAM – Bumped on jumping. Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages. TALK TIME – Began awkwardly. QUOTHQUAN – Raced wide throughout. POSEIDON RULER – Steadied from heels at the 1000m. CHARLIE'S CASE – Raced wide throughout. TOROVISTA – Shifted out on jumping and bumped STARZAM. Passing the 300m had to be restrained off the heels of QUOTHQUAN after being carried out by KADALL, which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester, rider of KADALL, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and was suspended for ten days commencing at midnight the 21st of September and ending at midnight the 1st of October 2024.
