QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT EAGLE FARM TURF CLUB FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – +7mPENETROMETER – 5.83 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – G Goold, P Zimmermann, J Williamson, S Borg SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Trainer B Laming was fined the sum of $200 under LR36(6) for failing to scratch RAPID CHEVAL by the prescribed time, when accepted in two races. Race 1: PINK RIBBON RACEWEEK BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2143 M KNEZE – Over-raced whilst leading during the early stages. ROYAL RIFT (IRE) – Examined prior to the start after making contact with the enclosure fence. Over-raced during the early stages when restrained to obtain cover. Laid in over the concluding stages. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. LOST ILLUSIONS (NZ) – Laid out in the home straight. Race 2: SPRING CARNIVAL BOOK NOW CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1600 M Both J Guthmann-Chester (FLASHING STEEL) and B WHEELER (SEBRING GIRL) were reprimanded under AR 232 for failing to fulfill a stewards direction in that, after allowing their mounts to view the building construction site, they then proceeded to the barriers in the incorrect direction. SEBRING GIRL – B Wheeler reported that in his opinion the mare raced flat and did not travel at any point of the event. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. CENTRESTONE – Slow to begin. JOHNNY DASH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Became awkward at the heels of PORKY near the 100m when that horse shifted out. PORKY – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: THE GIBSON QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M BETTER DRAW (NZ) – J Orman reported that his mount raced flat and would appreciate a step up in distance. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. HE'SGOTTHESAY – Inconvenienced rounding the home turn when AIMA SUN shifted out. Apprentice J HAMPSON was advised to exercise more care.LARIDAE – Bumped on jumping. Checked near the 1100m when tightened for room to the inside of AIMA SUN, which shifted in. Apprentice J Hampson, the rider of AIMA SUN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for this incident. NEO VICI – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping LARIDAE. ROTHWEILER – Over-raced when racing in restricted room near the 1200m and continued to over-race until rounding the home turn. AIMA SUN – Shifted out when rounding the home turn and inconvenienced HE’SGOTTHESAY. DRACENA – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping LARIDAE. Checked when tightened for room short after the start when MISSION POSSIBLE shifted in. A Thompson the rider of MISSION POSSIBLE was reprimanded for this incident. Shifted in when over-racing and awkwardly placed at heels near the 600m. GRANDMA'S LOVE – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and lost significant ground before racing greenly for a short distance passing the 1000m. Trainer K Schweida was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. CALL SIGN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Restrained when racing in restricted room near the 600m. Race 4: U&U RECRUITMENT MAIDEN PLATE 1300 M JUNGLE LAW – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 1000m LET'SSHOWEM – Slow to begin. MEHRETU – Over-raced during the middle stages. Tightened for room and had to be checked near the 1000m. MORE FOR READY – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. SOFALA – Shifted in despite the efforts of its rider approaching the 1000m and tightened MEHRETU and JUNGLE LAW. Trainer P Duff was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to racing again. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. DOUMO – Slow to begin. VOCALS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 5: LADBROKES RACING CLUB BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1000 M FEMME FATALE – Raced wide throughout. TELLEZ (NZ) – Reared as the start was affected and lost significant ground. GREAT BARRIER REEF – Began awkwardly and shifted out. HELIKEDEMPRETTY – Slow to begin. MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Tightened for room and lost ground. Race 6: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 M MASTER SHOWMAN – Hampered on jumping. Over-raced during the middle stages. NAVAS TWO – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance Apprentice E Lang reported that with the addition of the blinkers would result in the gelding showing more speed during the early stages, however her mount was reluctant to stride during the early stages and she was obliged to pressure her mount during the middle stages to remain in contact with the field. Apprentice Lang added that the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages. HEROIC MISS – Began awkwardly. FORTUNEER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: XXXX BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1400 M READY AZZ EVA – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the middle stages. CASTILLIAN (NZ) – Over-raced during the middle stages. REDFORD – Slow to begin. Raced wide during the early stages. R Dolan reported that he had anticipated settling in a more forward position, however from the wide barrier his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and was left flat-footed when the pace quickened when rounding the home turn.DISNEY CASTLE – Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 8: MORETON HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M LOVEWILLCOMELATER – Raced wide throughout. TOWER FLYPASS (NZ) – Over-raced during the early stages when racing in restricted room. Approaching the 100m was obliged to steady when tightened between ARAMINTA, which shifted out and ZELGARIA, which shifted in. Near the 200m was momentarily inconvenienced when ARAMINTA shifted out. Raced wide throughout. THE PLAYER – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn and until passing the 300m. ZELGARIA - Raced wide throughout. GRAND METEOR – Over-raced near the 900m when restrained to obtain cover. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice E Lang, when questioned regarding the performance of the mare she stated that being first up today her mount travelled well during the middle stages, however when placed under pressure in the home straight weakened noticeably and when pulling up made abnormal respiratory noises. Trainer T Gollan advised stewards that in light of todays performance GRAND METEOR will officially trial. MAGIC ISLAND – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200m and over the final 100m was obliged to shift in when awkwardly placed at the heels of THE PLAYER, which shifted out. EDGE OF SEVENTEEN – Over-raced during the early stages. Near the 200m, when reluctant to improve into a tight run was further tightened for room when ZELGARIA shifted in and had to be steadied as a result. M Harley, the rider of ZELGARIA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for failing to stop riding and straighten. DIVINE GEM – Hung out when rounding the 900m turn. EVERLASTING STARS – Examined by the vet prior to the start after making heavy contact with the enclosure fence and cleared to start. Raced in restricted room to the inside of DIVINE GEM near the 100m when that horse shifted in. M Cahill, the rider of DIVINE GEM, was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten when his mount shifts ground. ARAMINTA – Slow to begin and raced in restricted room shortly after.
