Hanson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Eagle Farm 19/10/24Race 7 – Stable representative for Heathcote Racing, J. Coetze advised that EKATERINA has pulled up well and they plan to continue with its preparation. GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting: Race 1 – DIVINE CHARM – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg)Race 5 – GLORIOUS RUBY – M. Murphy +0.5kg (54.5kg) Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $300 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch TOTALLY UNDERRATED from race 4 by the prescribed time. Trainer C. Anderson was fined $300 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch SCRIPT WRITER from race 7 by the prescribed time. Race 1: SKY RACING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1800 M VICTORY COMMAND (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out under pressure in the home straight and approaching the 250m became awkwardly placed on the heels of ARGERICH before having to be corrected. ARGERICH – Began awkwardly. Brushed and carried wider over the concluding stages. SHARMAN PETE – Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that when placed under pressure in the home straight, his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg and exhibiting signs of the thumps. Trainer L. Freedman was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing or trialling. FORT DENISON – Caught wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to take up the leading position approaching the 1000m. Laid out from the 600m. EFFIE'S JOY – Slow to begin. PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until a point approaching the 250m. DIVINE CHARM – Slow to begin. LADY DEANNE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Race 2: ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BOOK NOW MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M BEFORE THE THUNDER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ELROY – Laid in rounding the home turn and bumped FORTUNE READY. NAPA VALLEY – Passing the 50m, contacted by READY FOR THE TRIP and became unbalanced. NESCAFFIER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. READY FOR THE TRIP – Shifted in at the start and contacted STARSONUS. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before shifting out passing the 50m, contacting NAPA VALLEY. STARSONUS – Tightened for room at the start and was hampered. After being crossed passing the 1100m, whilst being restrained, commenced to race fiercely and shifted out abruptly. Continued to race fiercely for a considerable distance and raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing. STATE A FACT – Contacted on jumping. FORTUNE READY – Near the 1100m, severely hampered after STARSONUS shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in FORTUNE READY contacting the heels of that runner and blundering. Rounding the home turn, bumped by ELROY and became unbalanced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. HAS BEAN – Shifted out at the start and contacted STARSONUS. SHE'S WORTH IT – Contacted on jumping. Jockey M. Cahill reported that in his opinion the mare would be suited to races over a further distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. WHISKEY TOWER (NZ) – Leaving the 200m, inconvenienced when BEFORE THE THUNDER laid in. Race 3: EMPIRE OF JAPAN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M JOPPA LANE – Raced wide throughout. KING BOOM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages. PRIDE OF ICE – Raced wide throughout. PRINCE LEVI – Began awkwardly. Laid out near the 50m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of PROVANCE. PROVANCE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. TRAPEZE ALERT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced leaving the 200m when GIVE ME SPACE (J. Orman) shifted in. Jockey J. Orman was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. ZELEZNY – Began awkwardly. MAKING HISTORY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 4: MORETON HIRE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M ALLY – Leaving the 200m, bumped with ESPRIT DU JOUR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. BACCARAT ROUGE – Approaching the 600m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels. ESPRIT DU JOUR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. Leaving the 200m, bumped with ALLY. PARISIENNE PIPER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. SPICY MARTINI – Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $100 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. STYLISH ANGEL – Raced keenly in the early stages. SOUL PURSUIT – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that although racing wide throughout, when placed under pressure, his mount failed to respond to his riding and weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative for Heathcote racing, J. Coetze advised Stewards that he would report back in the subsequent days on the post-race condition of the filly. TENGUN ANNIE – Raced wide throughout. AQUATIER – Held up from rounding the home turn until a point near the 250m. Race 5: U&U RECRUITMENT CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200 M PREACH – Laid out rounding the home turn. Apprentice J. Franklin advised that the gelding would derive benefit from today’s first up run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. DEPTH CHARGE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. LARRIKIN ROGUE – Jockey R. Dolan was reprimanded pursuant to AR232(b) for failing to fulfill a stewards direction in that he didn’t stop his mount to view the building construction site. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 200m was carried out and contacted the hindquarters of GLORIOUS RUBY. GLORIOUS RUBY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m, hampered after having its hindquarters contacted. Race 6: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK BM65 HANDICAP 1800 M THE IRISH (IRE) – Hampered at the start. BIG TICKET BOY – Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer L. Gough was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. CONNEWARRE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey C. Graham reported could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. HATASU – Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainers representative was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing or trialling. SMOOTH TORQUE – Near the 600m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. HALLSIDE MARTINI – Raced keenly in early stages. SHOWDRA – Shifted out at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be making an upper respiratory noise. Trainer L. Freedman was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive with the results of an endoscopic examination prior to resuming racing or trialling. YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Taken out at the start. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides near the 600m. SOKUDO – Slow to begin. Race 7: XXXX GOLD BM65 HANDICAP 1400 M STARLIGHT NATION (IRE) – Jockey J. Orman reported he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated and after being first up from an extended spell, he believes the gelding would derive significant benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. OUTBURST – Bumped over the concluding stages. SKYWRITER – Slow into stride. Laid out in the early stages. Raced keenly throughout and was restrained from heels near the 600m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. CHAYSE 'N' ADAM – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced in restricted room for a short period passing the 500m. Laid in over the concluding stages and bumped OUTBURST. BLACK OPIUM (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. SENSORY – Change of tactics; to be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Slow to begin and raced at the rear of the field. Jockey R. Stewart reported his mount never travelled throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainers representative for Waller racing, G. Crowe was advised to report back in the subsequent days on the post-race condition of the mare.
