SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Eagle Farm 2/11/2024 Race 4. Stewards inquired into the circumstances whereby APUNTAR (apprentice C. Collis) had to be restrained in the vicinity of the 1100m. Passing the 1100m, CHAMIERRO shifted in when insufficiently clear of APUNTAR which had to be restrained off heels. Jockey J. Guthmann Chester, rider of CHAMIERRO was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
 
GENERAL
Trainer M. Dunn was fined $300 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor NOVEMBER SUN by the prescribed time.
 
 
Race 1: DRINKWISE MAIDEN PLATE       1000 Metres
 
DOMINANT DARCY became fractious when loaded into the barriers and was scratched on veterinary advice at 11.34am after sustaining lacerations to both hindlimbs. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on DOMINANT DARCY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st DISMANTLE 5c win, 7c place
2nd SER JOH 5c place
3rd NOVEMBER SUN 5c place
 
Trainer’s representative for the Gollan stable, C, Cavanagh was advised that DOMINANT DARCY will require a further barrier certificate and a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
SER JOH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over raced during the early stages. On entering the home straight, had difficulty obtaining clear running before attempting to improve into a narrow run between HONKYTONK HUSTLE and RUSTIC TZAR, contacting the hindquarters of HONKTONK HUSTLE. Jockey N. Callow was reminded of his obligations.
 
SOBUTE – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and obliged to shift wider to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ESPRIT DU JOUR – Reared and lost ground as the start was effected. Over raced during the early stages. On entering the home straight, momentarily inconvenienced by NOVEMBER SUN which shifted out to improve. Jockey A. Mallyon was advised to exercise further care.
 
HONKYTONK HUSTLE – Passing the 300m whilst racing in restricted room had its hindquarters contacted by SER JOH. Jockey N. Callow, rider of SER JOH, was reminded of his obligations to exercise more care.
 
NOVEMBER SUN – Over raced during the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: SEN MAIDEN PLATE         1600 Metres
 
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (3) retrospectively.
 
ELROY – Slow to begin.
 
NAGAMIE – Began awkwardly.
 
NAPA VALLEY – Rider B. Thornton could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a slow recovery.
 
STAPLETON – Trainer M. Morrison was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide throughout.
 
ARGERICH – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.
 
AUTORA – As jockey R. Maloney was overweight, he was replaced by jockey S. Collett. Jockey R. Maloney was fined $500 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Slow to begin.
 
SHE'S WORTH IT – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to be displaying signs of heat stress.
 
WHISKEY TOWER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
ROTHSPHENE – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 3: ASCOT GREEN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE         1200 Metres
 
PARISIENNE PIPER became fractious and cast when loaded into the barriers and was scratched on veterinary advice at 12.49pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on PARISIENNE PIPER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st ALLY 0c win, 1c place
2nd CELESTIAL BLAZE 1c place
3rd BOOMROUX 1c place
 
Trainer B. Wakefield was advised that PARISIENNE PIPER will require a further barrier certificate and a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
BOOMROUX – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the near hindlimb.
 
RUM RUMBLE – Jockey N. Callow dropped his whip passing the 100m.
 
VALENCIA ROC (NZ) – Raced in restricted room for a short distance after jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance passing the 300m.
 
KING BOOM – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: IMPRESSU CLASS 4 HANDICAP         1000 Metres
 
MR GALAZI – Slow to begin.
 
ONE 'N' ONLY – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
KELLY'S LANDING – COT – to be ridden less forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: INTRO RECRUITMENT CUP CLASS 5 HANDICAP          1400 Metres
 
OUGHTON – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight despite the efforts of its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
 
BEAUTANTES – Shifted in on jumping and bumped OUGHTON.
 
GOLDEELUCK – A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
STRIPPED BACK – Restrained from heels of OUGHTON shortly after the start. Approaching the 200m, was hampered by OUGHTON which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
LARRIKIN ROGUE – Slow to begin. Commenced to over race approaching the 1000m.
 
DROP THE MIC – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 6: SEVEN BM65 HANDICAP         2418 Metres
 
INTUITU (FR) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
 
BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MR TADASHI – Over raced whilst being restrained during the early stages. Laid in under pressure whilst weakening in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of heat stress and was treated on course.  
 
THE IRISH (IRE) – Slow to begin.  

IMPUNITY – Jockey J. Morris’ license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (17 occasions in totality), commencing at midnight the 9th of November and ending at midnight the 16th of November. Jockey Morris was also found guilty of a charge under AR131(b) of failing to riding his mount out over the concluding stages potentially costing his mount second place. Jockey Morris’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of three weeks commencing at midnight 9th of November and ending at midnight on the 30th of November, served concurrently with the whip penalty above. Jockey Morris was advised of his rights to an appeal.
 
 
Race 7: MORETON HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP       1200 Metres
 
THE PLAYER – Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained from heels of ABLE SEAMAN near the 600m.
 
HAKATERE (NZ) – Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of heat stress.
 
VELOZES – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early stages. When asked to comment, jockey A. Jones reported that the mare was first up from a spell today and she was not overly disappointed with the effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of heat stress.
 
ADORADEC – Raced wide throughout.
 
JAMAICAN MECRAZY – Over raced during the early stages. Apprentice E. Lang was fined $200 pursuant to AR 211(1) after she returned to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. 
 
CRESSBROOK – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: CANADIAN CLUB BM65 HANDICAP         1500 Metres
 
DIANA'S AFFAIR – COT – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin and settled further back.
 
OUTBURST – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNLORD – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer’s representative Mr C. Cavanagh was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.  
 
BLACK OPIUM (NZ) – When asked to comment, jockey J. Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out from the 400m. He added that the firm track conditions may not have been to the gelding’s liking. A post race veterinary examination revealed BLACK OPIUM to be displaying signs of heat stress.
 
 
 
Race 9: LADBROKES FORM GENIUS BM68 HANDICAP         1840 Metres
 
HOUSTON ROCKET – Jockey M. Harley reported that the gelding travelled comfortably, however didn’t let down as expected in the home straight.
 
ADELAD – Over raced during the early stages.
 
THESECONDATPORTSEA – Passing the 1100m shifted to a three wide position for a short distance.
 
ROCK YA (NZ) – Raced keenly whilst being restrained during the early stages.
 
KINGFIELD (NZ) – Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn. Apprentice B. Wheeler could offer no excuses for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer’s representative B. Killion advised that it was their intention to continue with the preparation and consider the application of blinkers prior to its next start.
 
SMOKIN' DE QUO – Began awkwardly.  
 
SUBUKI – Underwent a veterinary examination after kicking a rail leaving the enclosure and cleared to start.
 
YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Slow to begin.
