SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Eagle Farm Trackwork 13/12/2024 - Apprentice B. Wheeler pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to Australian Rule of Racing AR113, in that he did used his mobile phone whilst mounted on a horse at Eagle Farm trackwork on Friday morning the 13/12/2024. Apprentice B. Wheeler was fined the sum of $200.
Race 1: SEASON GREETINGS FROM BRC BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 2206 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes to hold for an interstate event.
BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped.
ALDEENAARY (IRE) – Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s track conditions.
THE IRISH (IRE) – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of mild heat stress.
VICTORY COMMAND (NZ) – Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of the thumps.
MONASTERY – Bumped on jumping.
BILPA MOREA (NZ) – Slow to begin
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Soft (7) retrospectively.
Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP PLUS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1600 Metres
The running of this race was delayed until 12.58pm due to lightning in the area.
KRONENBOURG (NZ) – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after kicking out in the barriers and was cleared to start.
BEAUTANTES – Rider N. Callow reported that the saddle shifted backwards on the gelding on jumping placing him at a disadvantage, and in his opinion, also failed to handle the heavy track conditions
AERIAL DANCER – Raced keenly during the early stages.
NAVAL SEAL – Slow to begin.
QUEEN AIR – Slow to begin.
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (8).
Race 3: XXXX FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight.
CHERRY ROSE – Hampered on jumping. Rider J. Stanley reported that, in his opinion, the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying moderate heat stress and was treated on course.
INSTAGOOD – Passing the 500m, hampered and carried wider by CHERRY ROSE, which shifted out to improve.
ONE BEAT NO BEAT – Began awkwardly. Passing the 600m, had to be steadied after improving on heels.
MIXED SIGNALS – Began awkwardly.
GREY IMPACT – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages.
Race 4: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
QUEEN ASSASSIN was declared a late scratching at 1.40pm due to the track downgrade. Prior to declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on QUEEN ASSASSIN be replaced with the following deductions to apply:
1st FIND YOUR OWN 10c win, 7c place
2nd BOHEMIAN LAD 11c place
3rd SALTAIRE 9c place
GODFATHER – Began awkwardly, hampered shortly afterwards and lost ground.
ANOTHER COGNAC – A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MARKWELL DREAMER – Slow to begin.
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (10).
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS JAN 2025 CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 Metres
GOLDEN DECADE – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment, jockey A. Mallyon reported that GOLDEN DECADE failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. When questioned regarding his riding out of the gelding in the home straight, jockey Mallyon reported that approaching the 100m, he became concerned with the proximity of HELL who commenced to shift in whilst weakening.
HELL – When asked to comment, apprentice E. Lang reported that HELL failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CORFE CASTLE – Bumped and taken inwards shortly after the start by HUON. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of the thumps.
HUON – Cast the off hind plate.
MILLANE – Began awkwardly.
PAYLINE – Began awkwardly, before becoming severely crowded shortly afterwards and losing ground.
Race 6: SEVEN GOLD EDITION PLATE 1200 Metres
SUPERALLOY – Shifted in under pressure near the 150m.
OBLIGATED – Rider J. Stanley reported that on pulling up his mount made a respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination revealed an upper respiratory noise and trainer L. Wright was advised that OBLIGATED will require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
AIR WE GO – Rider K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the gelding raced greenly, and in his opinion, did not appreciate today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that AIR WE GO will require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG, and a barrier trial prior to racing again.
Race 7: LADBROKES GRAND PRIX STAKES 1800 Metres
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 400m.
CAN'T RECALL ONE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that his mount failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
MOON SWEEPER – Jockey D. Thornton reported that the gelding raced flat today. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
SQUEEZEBOX – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 1400m, had to be restrained after becoming awkward on heels.
BLUEPINOT – Rider A. Mallyon reported that BLUEPINOT failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. Trainer’s representative B. Killion advised that the colt will now head for a spell.
CANAVESE (NZ) – Approaching the 350m, shifted out and away from BEAU DAZZLER and became momentarily awkward. Jockey M. Rodd reported that the gelding pulled too hard and also in his opinion, didn’t handle the heavy track conditions. Trainer P. Shailer reported that CANAVESE would now head for an immediate spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
BANKSIA BEACH – Raced wide throughout.
MADAME LEXIS – Passing the 1400m, had to be restrained after becoming awkward on heels.
WOWZINO (NZ) – Laid out approaching the 1700m. Raced wide throughout.
Race 8: ASCOT GREEN LOUGH NEAGH STAKES 1300 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes when CIFRADO had to have its tongue refitted at the barriers.
CIFRADO – Had to have its tongue tie readjusted on arrival at the barriers.
ROYAL MERCHANT – Slow to begin. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO – Over raced during the early stages. Apprentice B. Wheeler could offer no excuses for the mare’s disappointing performance. Trainer’s representative T. Pollard advised he will report back to Stewards on the post race condition of the mare. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery.
GENTLY ROLLED – Jockey A. Jones reported that the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions.
Race 9: NOVA 106.9 CLASS 3 PLATE 1400 Metres
The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes after THAT’S AN EXTRA displaced its tongue which was refitted on arrival at the barriers.
BOOM SHOT – Slow to begin.
THAT'S AN EXTRA – Over raced during the middle stages. Bumped rounding the home turn by SIMPLY FUN.
FLYWHEEL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after contacting a fence in the mounting enclosure and cleared to start. A post race veterinary examination revealed an upper respiratory noise and trainer R. Heathcote was advised that FLYWHEEL will require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
ZAHER (NZ) – Forced wider at the 600m.
Race 10: MORETON HIRE OPEN HANDICAP 1800 Metres
BROOKHAVEN – Slow to begin.
RED TOP – Laid out over the concluding stages.
ECHO POINT – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying symptoms of mild heat stress.
