Huxtable +0.5kg Due to an administrative oversight, the following gear changes may not have been advertised:Race 1. 3. CALL OUT – blinkers onRace 4. 5. WILD BOTANICA – tongue tie on Race 1: BECOME A BRC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres Declaration of correct weight was delayed when apprentice E. Lang, rider of third placegetter ANDI DON’T CARE lodged an objection against second placegetter CIPHERTEXT, ridden by jockey C. Graham alleging interference inside the final 100m. After considering the evidence, Stewards determined that whilst CIPHERTEXT shifted out over the final 100m resulting in contact to ANDI DON’T CARE on three occasions, they could not be comfortably satisfied that if this interference had not occurred that ANDI DON’T CARE would have finished in front of CIPHERTEXT and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judges’ semaphored numbers. BEST COFFEE – Approaching the 100m, obliged to alter course to the inside of SAGA’S GIRL which shifted out under pressure. CALL OUT – Began awkwardly and bumped COPENHAGEN CAT. ANDI DON'T CARE – Leaving the 100m, bumped by CIPHERTEXT. Approaching the 50m, bumped by CIPHERTEXT which shifted out. Approaching the winning post was bumped by CIPHERTEXT which shifted out under riding. Jockey C. Graham, rider of CIPHERTEXT, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. BODYSWERVE – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. CIPHERTEXT – Raced three wide for the majority. Raced greenly under pressure over the final 100m. FLASH DRIVE – Approaching the 700m, tightened for room to the inside of COPENHAGEN CAT which was crowded and taken inwards by CIPHERTEXT. Approaching the 600m, crowded and had to be steadied after being tightened by COPENHAGEN CAT which shifted in and away from CIPHERTEXT, whilst racing greenly. Jockey C. Graham was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. SAGA'S GIRL – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment, jockey B. Thornton reported that the filly raced greenly and will benefit from the experience. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Hoysted advised he will report back to Stewards the results of veterinary tests on the filly in the coming days and may consider sending the filly for a spell. SANDY GRIP – When asked to comment, jockey A. Jones could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer’s representative C. Cavanagh reported he would advise Stewards the results of veterinary tests performed on the filly in the coming days. COPENHAGEN CAT – Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced. Raced greenly throughout. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH MAIDEN PLATE 1600 Metres DISCOVER (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. IONACELTIC – When racing keenly leaving the 1100m, shifted out and bumped KALKANLI. NAVILLUS HELLFIRE – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly afterwards. Over raced during the early stages. Raced wide throughout. AVIOR – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that the filly would settle midfield if circumstances permit. Settled in the lead. When questioned in regards to leading the event which was against the advertised instructions, apprentice B. Wheeler stated that after beginning well, he was unable to secure a position with cover therefore rather than be trapped wide, he allowed his mount to stride forward to lead leaving the 1400m. CRIMSON SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout. DESERT ANGEL – Raced wide until the 1200m. KALKANLI – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: SKY RACING MAIDEN PLATE 1200 Metres CHEERFUL CAT – Bumped and carried outwards by WHAT ARTISTS DO approaching the 1000m. IHAVESEENTHELIGHT – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be heat stressed. RHUVAAL – Shifted in at the 1000m. ASPIRE TO WIN – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 1000m. Rider R. Dolan reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout. HEADHUNTER – Near the 1000m, steadied from heels of ECCLESTONE which shifted in. Apprentice E. Lang, rider of ECCLESTONE, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. ROCK THE SUNRISE – Slow to begin. Rider B. Thornton reported that his mount would be better suited over further ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. WHAT ARTISTS DO – Raced keenly approaching the 1000m and had to be steadied. SOME STYLE – Momentarily steadied approaching the 1000m. GOOD PHILLY – Raced wide throughout. PONTYPRIDD – Began awkwardly before severely crowded and lost ground. Steadied at the 1000m when RHUVAAL shifted in. Jockey J. Stanley, rider of RHUVAAL, was advised to exercise greater care. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that the gelding’s nomination would be refused at Metropolitan meetings until it establishes form at provincial meetings. Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS JAN 2025 BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 Metres WILD BOTANICA – Held up for clear running from entering the home straight until approaching the 200m where the mare then clipped heels when awkwardly placed to the inside of RAN NA LADY which laid in before being corrected by its rider. WILD BOTANICA was then retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild muscle soreness. Connections advised they will report back to Stewards on the post race condition of the mare. TERMAGANT – Approaching the 100m, shifted in abruptly under pressure before being corrected by its rider. DONT CALL ME HONEY – Following the race it was established that the stable representative was incorrectly directed by the Yard Steward that the mare was to wear a tongue tie, which is not part of its advertised gear, resulting in DON’T CALL ME HONEY wearing that piece of gear. This matter would be referred to the Chief Steward for consideration. RAN NA LADY – Laid in approaching the 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have mild heat stress. SALT LAKE BETTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. TELLEZ (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. SNEAKY SHARK – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced at the 200m and obliged to shift out. Race 5: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1845 Metres CASHIN' CHEX (NZ) – Underwent a pre race veterinary inspection after contacting a rail moving out of the enclosure and was cleared to start. Underwent a resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Slow to begin. TWIGMAN (NZ) – Carried wider leaving the 300m. ARTFUL GIRL – Laid out for the majority of the home straight obliging its rider to stop and straighten on a number of occasions. NAVAL SEAL – Slow to begin. TUHINGA – Raced wide throughout. MOSZUR – Steadied at the 300m when DIABLO BOLT shifted in. When asked to comment, rider A. Jones advised that from the wide barrier she was obliged to race wide in the early stages and had to make use of the mare in order to secure a position closer to the rail however she was still disappointed with its finishing effort. Trainer D. Vandyke concurred with the comments of A. Jones advised that he will report back to Stewards in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be heat stressed. TEXAS FIREBALL – Laid in under pressure leaving the 400m before being corrected by its rider. Race 6: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 Metres The start of this event was delayed three minutes when SOUTH SEA required to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. BOOMSTER – Raced wide until leaving the 800m. SOUTH SEA – Underwent a resaddle on arrival at the barriers. MIST OF DAWN – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure during the early stages of the home straight. BUCKS FIZZ – Raced wide during the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey D. Thornton reported that the gelding was first up today and had to work hard during the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making a respiratory noise. Trainer M. Hoysted was advised that BUCKS FIZZ will require a veterinary clearance including an endoscopic examination prior to racing again. CASPERNOVA – Began awkwardly. RUBIX LOVE – Approaching the 1000m, crowded and had to be steadied from BERNICE’S SPIRIT which shifted in. Jockey L. Dempsey was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Race 7: LADBROKES BLACKBOOK BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1400 Metres COUNTER (GB) – Shifted out at the 700m to race three wide with cover. DEMITASSE – Raced keenly during the middle stages. NEW LEVEL – Raced wide until the 900m. REBEL'S EDGE – Raced wide throughout. KAREEM – Held up for clear running from entering the home straight until approaching the 300m improved onto heels, shifted in contacting TRAPEDO and then had to be checked when tightened for room between TRAPEDO and DEMITASSE. Stewards strongly advised jockey Chaves to exercise greater care and to ensure that he has sufficient racing room before attempting to secure running between other runners. Jockey E. Chaves was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding for this incident. TRAPEDO – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run at the 400m and was obliged to shift in. Approaching the 250m, bumped heavily and had its hindquarters turned by KAREEM and became unbalanced.
