AdamsStewards – G. Goold, J. Williamson, O. Legg, H. Matthews, J. Robinson. GENERALStewards permitted the following overweights:Race 7 – V. Duric +0.5kg Race 7 – A. Mallyon +0.5kg As Jockey V. Duric was overweight in Races 7 & 9, he was subsequently replaced as per the Race Day Summary. Jockey V. Duric was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 228(b) in that after leaving the Stewards room for an inquiry, Mr K. Wilson-Taylor entered the Jockey’s room and punched a hole into the male Jockey’s room wall. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was fined $1000 with $500 suspended for two years and directed by Stewards to contact the Brisbane Racing Club to rectify the damaged caused. Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1300 MATOMIC TIME (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Orman stated that his mount would derive benefit from today’s event. MR WORTHINGTON – Raced wide throughout. LOVE TO TORQUE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have mild heat stress. PIGGIETALES – Fractious in the barriers and as a result was very slow to begin. ZOUSAIN GIRL – Slow to begin. M. Du Plessis reported his mount was making an abnormal respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey Trainer N. Beck advised it was now his intention to send the filly for a spell. Race 2: GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH CLASS 3 PLATE 1800 M BARAZIN (IRE) – Had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed on heels whilst attempting to improve passing the 500m. BRAVE BOY – Trainer C. Zintilis was reprimanded pursuant to AR 206(3) for presenting the gelding in modified visors. BRYNNER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. SMART ACTION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. JOVITA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Stewards were advised following the event, that due to a mechanical failure, the QAS vehicle was unable to follow the field for this race. This issue was rectified prior to race 3. Race 3: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 MSISTINE EXPLORER – Trainer J. Smerdon was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider within the prescribed time. ADIELLA – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start. Approaching the 500m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels. ALL STASHED UP – Raced wide throughout. DECISIVE LASS – Passing the 200m, obliged to shift wider after improving onto the heels of the weakening ALLOUTATIME. JUNGLE LAW – Shifted out on jumping. ALLOUTATIME – Jockey M. Rodd stated that in his opinion his mount proved disappointing and failed to run out today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. GILIANA – Shifted in on jumping. VALETUDO (GB) – Passing the 900m to approaching the 700m, raced in restricted room to the inside of MISS BAYLES who was attempting to shift in to obtain cover when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice B. Wheeler rider of MISS BAYLES was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Following the running of Race 3, Jockey M. Rodd was stood down by the club doctor after becoming unwell. Jockey M. Rodd was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming. Race 4: RYAN "SCRUBBER" HARDIKER COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 MKEMI ZABI – Slow to begin. RUNWITHTHETIDE – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice E. Lang reported her mount failed to settle after being challenged for the lead and failed to finish the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. BOOM MASTER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BOOM SHOT – Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. ZINGALONG – Raced wide throughout. MR WANDJI – Slow to begin. Bumped passing the 600m. KALUMBURU – Slow to begin. Race 5: BRC CHAIRMANS CLUB MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 2200 MLINTHORPE LAD – Began awkwardly. CONVENER (FR) – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, Jockey R. Maloney reported that he was instructed to be positive on CONVENER (FR) today as he and Trainer C. Maher were of the opinion that the race lacked genuine tempo. He added that after beginning well, he was able to cross and take up a leading position passing the winning post on the first occasion, but after jumping the crossing near the 1800m, commenced to over race and while attempting to restrain CONVENER (FR), the gelding fought his urging and created a sizeable gap on the remainder of the field. He added that for a short distance passing the 1200m, his mount began to respond and come back underneath him but at a point passing the 1000m, again began to over race and from that point forward, commenced to weaken. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to take further evidence from Trainer C. Maher to review the sectionals and betting data of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post-race swab was taken from the gelding. IVERSON – Obliged to steady on entering the home straight to avoid the heels of HABEEBAH (FR) which shifted in abruptly after becoming placed on heels. HABEEBAH (FR) – Obliged to alter course on entering the home straight after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening CONVENER (FR). CHASSAGNE – Bumped after the start. BEDFORD SQUARE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by ALDEENAARY (IRE) which shifted out to improve. COUP DE TONNERRE – Trainer J. Bruce advised COUP DE TONNERRE would attempt to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. CHATEAUX PARK (NZ) – Slow to begin. COUNTER (GB) – Shifted in and bumped CHASSAGNE. Laid in throughout the event. Race 6: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1400 MOUR BENEFACTOR (NZ) – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 200m after BLITZUM shifted out abruptly before being corrected. COLE'S BEST – Passing the 1200m, commenced to race fiercely when racing to the inside of BLITZUM which was carried in marginally, as a result shifted out at the point of the turn passing the 1200m. NINJITZOU – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 1100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery. WAKU WAKU – Raced in restricted room passing the 50m between BLITZUM which shifted out and COLE’S BEST which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have mild heat stress. Race 7: XXXX OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M GOLDEN DECADE – Passing the 1200m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of DEVASTATE (NZ) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A. Jones rider of DEVASTATE (NZ) was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Over raced during the middle stages. Apprentice E. Lang was dislodged after the winning post and was assessed by the club doctor and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the 1st occasion. Trainer M. Dunn was advised the gelding would be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m satisfactorily in the presence of a Steward prior to its next start. IRISH SONGS – Over raced during the early stages. VIMINELE – Slow to begin. Race 8: MAGIC MILIONS GOLD COAST MARCH BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600 MWAPITI – Raced wide throughout. Lost its off-hind plate. PORT PHILIP (IRE) – Approaching the 700m, hampered and carried wider by NAVAL SEAL which attempted to shift out to improve where there was insufficient room to do so. RISING PACIFIC (NZ) – Shifted in on jumping and bumped NAVAL SEAL. Passing the 800m after shifting out to improve, became awkwardly placed at the heels of TENZING (NZ) which shifted out. CUNNAMULLA FELLA – Raced keenly during the early stages. HOLLYWOOD NORTH – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near foreleg. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised HOLLYWOOD NORTH would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – Shifted out on jumping. NAVAL SEAL – Hampered after the start. Approaching the 700m, forced wider by A DEEL OF HUMOUR which shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear. Apprentice T. Fenlon rider of A DEEL OF HUMOUR was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. Race 9: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW CLASS 6 PLATE 1000 MIMMORAL – Laid in during the middle stages. Approaching the 100m, obliged to shift out to improve around the weakening MOGO MAGIC. MOGO MAGIC – Began awkwardly. Jockey N. Heywood stated that he was able to cross from a wide barrier and take up a leading position in the early stages. He further added his mount commenced to weaken over the final 150m and was of the opinion the gelding may not have appreciated todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. A post-race swab was also taken. LE MELODY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the rail whilst being led out of the mounting yard and was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly. HELLUVA BARTY – Hampered shortly after the start. Jockey N. Beriman could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have mild heat stress. HE'S HEAVEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 10:LADBROKES MATES MODE POTS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 MCorrect weight was delayed allowing connections of BILLIONAIR BABY to view the film to ascertain if BILLIONAIR BABY was afforded a fair start. After viewing the films, the connections elected to not take the matter any further and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphore board numbers. ART BY CONCORDE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to having mild heat stress. OUR MAGNUS – Over raced throughout the event. Passing the 800m had to be steadied over a considerable distance after becoming awkwardly placed on heels. Raced in restricted room approaching the 100m. SET TO SHINE – Passing the 300m was severely hampered and buffeted over a considerable distance by UNTIL VALHALLA which was directed out. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor rider of UNTIL VALHALLA was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. BILLIONAIR BABY – Reared as the start was affected, striking the cross bar and as a result considerable lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Obliged to alter course leaving the 400m. GIVARA – Slow to begin.
