Duric was not riding at today’s meeting, Stewards permitted the rider change(s) as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. The track was upgraded to a Good 4 at 11am. Race 1: BRC MEMBERSHIP CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1600 M The start of this race was delayed by approximately five (5) minutes due to GODZILLA requiring farrier attention behind the barriers and the blinkers on SHURI (NZ) requiring to be adjusted. INFLUENTIAL – Jockey A. Mallyon reported gelding had become worked up pre-race with the delay of the start. He further added it wasn’t his intention to lead, however; with no other speed shown by early runners, he was obliged to lead the event and was also of the opinion the gelding would now be looking for distances further than that of today’s event and to be ridden more conservatively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of a slow recovery. FAIRWAY CHOICE – Began awkwardly and shortly thereafter buffeted between IMATRUESTAR and SHURI (NZ). ABLE SEAMAN – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover. ARCHERS REIGN – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice B. Wheeler stated the gelding was disappointing and may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. Sweeney advised ARCHERS REIGN would now be sent for a spell. GODZILLA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having its near fore plate reshod and was subsequently cleared to start. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift out to improve. SHURI (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with FAIRWAY CHOICE. Jockey D. Thornton reported the mare made an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting clinical signs of a slow recovery and an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Stable representative for K. Lees was advised SHURI (NZ) would require veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic scope prior to resuming. JENNI MOREESE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance entering the home straight. Race 2: BRC MILLINERS MARKET 11 APRIL CLASS 2 PLATE 1000 M The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes due to ETUDE proving difficult to load. A LOT OF BOOTY – Momentarily inconvenienced when racing in restricted room approaching the 250m. LUVARCHIE – Began awkwardly contacting the barrier partition on jumping. RUSH HOUR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RYLOV – Raced wide for the majority. THE LUPERCAL – Over raced in the middle stages. Passing the 800m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of OUROBOROS and continued to over race for a short distance thereafter. OUROBOROS – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. ETUDE – Slow to begin. Trainer K. Lees was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for proving difficult to load. Race 3: STRADBROKE SEASON BOOK NOW QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1300 M ATOMIC TIME (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and further added the gelding, which was having its second start today, raced quite fresh. Co-Trainer T. Sears advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of mild heat stress. NOTTINGTON PRINCE – Over raced in the middle stages. MR WORTHINGTON – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. Jockey J. Stanley reported his mount laid out over the final 200m. Race 4: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1400 M GOODLUCKTOME – Bumped at the start by SILVA 'N' SUAVE which shifted in and THE TORQUE FACTOR which shifted out. SILVA 'N' SUAVE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. JUST PRECIOUS – Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor reported the filly made a respiratory noise when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making an abnormal upper respiratory noise. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised JUST PRECIOUS would require veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic scope prior to resuming. THE TORQUE FACTOR – Jockey R. Dolan reported the gelding made an increased respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have increased lung sounds. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised THE TORQUE FACTOR would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming. DEEP FOCUS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Near the 600m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of GOODLUCKTOME. Race 5: THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2206 MKIPLING'S JOURNEY – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running passing the 500m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. COUP DE TONNERRE – Blundered shortly after jumping. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was unable to offer an explanation. Trainer J. Bruce advised it is his intention to send the gelding for a spell following its disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. ROLLER COASTER (NZ) – Jockey M. Rodd reported his mount over raced. CELESTIAL FURY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. SIMPLY REFUSE – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey T. Marshall stated the mare was not suited to the tempo of the race and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps. DEVOCEAN (NZ) - Over raced in the early stages. Near the 800m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of KIPLING'S JOURNEY. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: XXXX BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1400 M NORTHERN DECREE (NZ) – Jockey L. Dempsey reported the gelding travelled well, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. OSTERMEIER – Slow to begin. SET TO SHINE – Passing the 800m, carried wider and raced three wide for the remainder of the event. HANG FIVE – Began awkwardly. NOBLE CONQUEROR – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 800m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of SET TO SHINE. TEXAS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Race 7: EVA AIR BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1300 M. PEPPERDINE – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Apprentice C. Bellamy reported she was required to adjust her nearside iron shortly after jumping. NO NAME FRANK – Began awkwardly. PEROVIC – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Mallyon stated the gelding which was first up today, would appreciate a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. OUTSMARTED – Hung out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer J. Capewell was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging out. PINK CASHMERE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. ENCRYPTED ELEGANCE – Passing the 300m, laid out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Jockey C. Graham reported her mount hung out and may not have appreciated today’s track conditions. TOBA – Hampered passing the 300m by OUTSMARTED which hung out under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 100m, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of OUTSMARTED which hung out. Jockey M. Rodd was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Race 8: ROKU GIN BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP 1000 M ROCKRIBBED – Laid in over the concluding stages. WANDA ROX – Began awkwardly. BRERETON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of a slow recovery. BRING ME KASH – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey D. Smith reported his mount anticipated the start, contacting the barrier partition on jumping. ECONOMICS – Passing the 50m, had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between WANDA ROX (C. Bellamy) which shifted out and COMPELLING TRUTH (A. Bullock) which shifted in under riding. Both Jockey A. Bullock and Apprentice C. Bellamy were reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. KOTE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Slow to begin and lost ground. Race 9: LADBROKES BET TICKER CLASS 6 PLATE 1200 MCALICO JACK – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. IMMORAL – Hampered shortly after the start. SAILOR'S SECRET – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. SHOW SOME DECORUM – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. MILLANE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on straightening. PIZARRO – Shortly after passing the winning post, clipped the heels of TERMAGANT and blundered.Jockey N. Beriman rider of TERMAGANT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that over the concluding stages, she permitted her mount to shift out under riding when insufficiently clear of PIZARRO. As a result of the shift, PIZARRO clipped heels and blundered. Jockey N. Beriman’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days, commencing midnight Sunday 9 March 2025, concluding midnight Thursday 20 March 2025. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines. WARBY – Slow to begin. ALL STASHED UP – Passing the 100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HIGHBAR which shifted in abruptly. Jockey R. Dolan reported it was not his intention to lead, however after the mare jumped well, he elected to allow his mount to stride forward. HIGHBAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported his mount hung in under pressure. TERMAGANT – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Race 10:MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST MARCH CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1600 M CABOCHE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of RISING PACIFIC (NZ). Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. TENZING (NZ) – When attempting to improve into a run passing the 250m, contacted the hindquarter of BINDING, shifting out, becoming awkward at the heels of JUST FLYING. CUNNAMULLA FELLA – Shortly after straightening, hampered and lost ground after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of WHISKY DREAM which shifted in approaching the 300m. Jockey L. Dempsey reported from the 600m, his mount commenced to weaken and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming. RISING PACIFIC (NZ) - Bumped on the hindquarters at the start by CABOCHE (NZ). Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight. VIMINELE – Slow to begin and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 100m and raced in restricted room over the concluding stages betweenWHISKY DREAM and JUST FLYING which shifted out under riding. Apprentice E. Lang was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances and to stop and straighten her mount when they commence to shift ground. JUST FLYING – Passing the 300m, had to be corrected and shifted out and shortly thereafter had its hindquarters contacted and was inconvenienced. WHISKY DREAM – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey C. Graham reported her mount hung in throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor laceration to its mouth and lost its off-hind plate. Trainer K. Kemp was advised the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming for hanging in.
