QRIC Stewards Report EIDSVOLD RACE CLUB: 5th October 2019Weather: Fine Track: Good 3 Rail: TrueStewards: K Daly (Chairman), C FedrickStarter: S Hamilton Clerk of Scales: T HauptPhoto-Finish Operator: C WeidemanJudges: P Webster, J HamiltonVeterinarian: Dr C Grace General: Dueto no riders being available the following horses were withdrawn at 11:50am: Race 2 - GRANOLA STATERace 3 - STARBEATS and PRINCESS RACER Race 1: RATINGS 0-60 HDCP 1030 Metres SIOUXSIE – slow to begin. When asked to comment on tactics adopted app H English stated the mare was not suited to by the fast early pace, as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated. She added SOUXSIE would be better suited to races over a longer distance. Stewards noted the explanation. TEN GOAL POLO – raced three-wide without cover for the majority of the event. SHE’S ON POINT – shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip near the 100 metres, hampering WARNERS LANDING. WARNERS LANDING – hampered near the 100 metres. Race 2: CLASS B HDCP 1200 Metres After being kicked in the off hind leg in the race day tie-up stalls, FORGOTTEN FEELING was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:05pm. Stewards ordered all bets to be refunded in full with deductions of 12 cents win and 11 cents place face value of all winning bets. Trainer L Wanless was advised FORGOTTEN FEELING would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start. DIA VERNON – raced wide for the majority of the event. HEZAGIGOLO – slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. NIGHTS ABLAZE – as the horse had not started for a considerable period, was examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race and cleared to start. AIRPORT – shifted out near the 800 metres. SALTY’S BOY – following the event rider M Gray reported the gelding was inclined to lay out throughout the event. HOVE ACTUALLY – slow to begin. Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE 1350 Metres MAADAK – slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. CRAIGLEA GUNSMOKE – raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. CRAIGLEA HUSKY – permission was granted for rider R Oakford to ride the colt ½ kg over its allocated weight when no other rider was available. TELLHIMHESDREAMING – following the event rider R Faehr reported the filly in his opinion was not suited by the tight turning track. Race 4: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1350 MetresCorrect weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the start of the event and determine whether TELLOFF was afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from rider H Phillips, starter S Hamilton and viewing the patrol video, it was established TELLOFF reared, striking jockey Phillips in the face as the start was effected, and as such was declared a runner. As H Phillips was momentarily incapacitated, TELLOFF was retired from the race a short distance after the start. Trainer B Phillips was advised TELLOFF must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Jockey H Phillips was examined by QAS medical staff and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagement. PATICHE – tightened near the 1000 metres. MY CERTAIN – obliged to steady near the 1000 metres when tightened for room. DARK FORCE – shifted in near the 1000 metres. Rider R Faehr was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting in when not fully clear. PUMP ACTION – weakened from the 400 metres. Rider C Rogers was of the opinion the mare is better suited to shorter distances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Race 5: BENCHMARK 69 HDCP 1350 Metres BRAD THE LAD – raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
