FLAWLESS AMBITION – Slow to begin and hampered a short distance later. Raced wide from the 700m. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages when ARABIAN FOX laid in under pressure. L. McCoy the rider of ARABIAN FOX was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

BOITUMELO – Began awkwardly.

OPAQUELY – Apprentice T. Wheeler reported that the left barrier arm sprung back contacting his mount on jumping away. Stewards advised the Starter of this report and requested that this gate and all other barriers be checked and tested prior to the next race.

Race 2: GITSHAM RACING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1030 Metres

HOLIDAY DREAMS – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 700m shifted out to avoid heels.

CITY CHICK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Eagle Farm Wednesday 2 October 2024 and was cleared to race. Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.

AFROGINASOCK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on its first occasion. Trainer A. Briskey was advised AFROGINASOCK, is stood down from racing for three months pursuant to AR79(4) and must trial, jump out or gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to resuming.

GOSSIAUX – Jumped out at the start and bumped HOLIDAY DREAMS which then bumped CITY CHICK which became unbalanced. Near the 500m steadied and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards found that GOSSIAUX was steadied when HOLIDAY DREAMS which improved between CITY CHICK and GOSSIAUX, shifted in momentarily before being corrected by the rider. Apprentice T. Wheeler stated that GOSSIAUX was not comfortable on today’s firmer track and when sustaining interference near the 500m commenced to weaken from that point.

RASHEED – Raced wide from the 800m.

Race 3: PAST MEMBERS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1350 Metres

Prior to correct weight, Stewards considered an objection lodged by M. Butler, the rider of the second placed DESTINY GUNGHO against MEDIA GEM (Apprentice B. Moffat) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 80m. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, found that leaving the 100m MEDIA GEM laid out marginally and a short distance later there was contact between MEDIA GEM and DESTINY GUNGHO which became momentarily unbalanced, Stewards on the available video footage however were not satisfied that DESTINY GUNGHO had not shifted in contributing to the contact between both runners. Furthermore, Stewards found that the interference suffered by DESTINY GUNGHO over the concluding stages when MEDIA GEM laid out, did not exceed the margin between both runners at the end of the race and based on these findings, dismissed the protest.

C. Taylor the rider of TEDDY BEE BEAR reviewed the Stewards footage to establish if his mount was afforded a fair start, upon review, C. Taylor was satisfied and elected not to proceed any further and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placing’s.

ADVERTISE – Slow to begin.

DESTINY GUNGHO – Held up for clear running from near the 400m until approaching the home turn. Bumped leaving the 100m and became momentarily unbalanced.

Race 4: MUNDUBBERA BUTCHERING CO QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1350 Metres

CASH ARTIST – Began awkwardly.

LONERGY – Tightened for room and lost ground between CANNY BOY and I’M FAMOUS which jumped out at the start. Near the 50m was steadied from the heels of KOHIKO which laid in. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice B. Johnson stated that after being slowly away, LONERGY was unable to muster any early speed and settled back further than she anticipated. She added that she was required to pressure the gelding throughout and felt that LONERGY finished off the race well.

KOHIKO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TEQUILA NIGHTS – Commenced to weaken from the 500m and was eased down from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short in front. Trainer P. Sexton was advised TEQUILA NIGHTS would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

CANNY BOY – Shifted in abruptly under pressure leaving the 150m resulting in apprentice B. Moffat having to stop riding and straighten his mount inside the final 100m. Apprentice B. Moffat was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides.

Race 5: SLATER ROAD SERVICES EIDSVOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres

REAL KEY – Raced keenly from 1000m until near the 700m.

COINCIDE – Near the 1000m raced in restricted room and was steadied when VILLADEN shifted in before being corrected, PIPPEN which was following was steadied from the heels of COINCIDE a short distance later. Apprentice B. Johnson the rider of VILLADEN was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Apprentice E. Molloy stated that COINCIDE when commencing to pull, improved onto heels near the 800m resulting in her shifting out wider on the track. Raced wide from the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn.

YULE MY HERO – Raced keenly from 1000m until near the 700m.

PIPPEN – Near the 1000m was steadied from heels. When asked to comment on the performance and tactics adopted, rider D. Boutet stated that PIPPEN jumped well but when steadied from heels near the 1000m, lost ground and as the gelding is a big striding horse, settled back further than he anticipated. He added that he was required to urge his mount throughout the race and that the gelding began to respond to his riding from the 600m. He further added that PIPPEN finished the race off well, and after being first up from a spell today, would be more suited to races over significantly further distances. Stewards noted the explanation.
