On returning to scale Jockey M Abe the rider of PURPLE GREY which was placed 3rd, lodged an objection against HAND OF FAITH (K Rockett) being placed 1st, alledging interference passing the 100m. After hearing submissions from connections and viewing the available patrol footage, Stewards, although acknowledging that HAND OF FAITH had shifted in under riding at that point tightening the running of PURPLE GREY, could not be comfortably satisfied that any ground lost by PURPLE GREY in the incident was in excess of the 1.25 lengths margin which seperated the 2 runners at the finish of the race. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey K Rockett pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). Stewards suspended Jockey Rockett’s license to ride in races for a period of 8 days to commence at midnight Saturday April 20th 2019 up to and incliuding midnight Sunday April 28th2019.
