Brady Supplementary Report Innisfail Saturday 1 April 2023Race 3: GARRADUNGA HOTEL OPEN HANDICAP – 1100 MetresCUPIDS SON – When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance trainer S. Hoffman advised stewards that she was disappointed with the gelding’s performance on the day, and it would now be given a freshen up. She further added consideration would be given to its racing future after consultation with the owners. Ms Hoffman was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.Race 4: IMPERIAL TAVERN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres ROSE OF ATHENS – When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance trainer S. Cooper advised no significant findings on returning to its stable however it would now be given a freshen up. Race 1: RAVENSHOE GULF BENDIGO COMMUNITY BANK / RINGERS WESTERN CAIRNS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1020 Metres The start of this race was delayed when a member of the public became ill and required ambulance attention. FAST GIRL – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly. BOWTIE BETTY – Raced wide in the early stages. Race 2: LOU & KIM'S BIRTHDAY/PAST MEMBERS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1220 metres YOSHI TORANAGA – Slow to begin. When asked to explain the gelding’s performance rider N. Yadi advised stewards it was unable to sprint when the pace quickened with its heavy impost today. Trainer F. Wieland agreed with that assessment.SOLOMON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MACIPENKO (GB) – Rider L. Morrison was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts right out to the winning post. Race 3: RAVENSHOE GULF BENDIGO COMMUNITY BANK/RYAN-BUTLER-JENKINS FAMILIES MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1220 MetresBOHEMIAN FLYER – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. SPANISH BEANS – Forced wider rounding the home turn. ROTHGURL – Laid out rounding the home turn forcing SPANISH BEANS wider. MISS DAURIAN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Race 4: GENEX POWER/MAGIC MILLIONS/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/UP&COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1620 MetresThe start of this race was delayed significantly due to a member of the public becoming ill and requiring urgent medical attention. DAY TO FAVOUR – Began very awkwardly throwing its head in the air and lost considerable ground. Trainer M. Taylor will be advised the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate priorto be permitted to race again. I LOVE ROCK'N'ROLL – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground. Checked near the 200 metres when tightened for room. Brushed over the concluding stages. SEA ECHO – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages brushing I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL.MISHANI REBOUND – Restrained off heels near the 1200 metres. Threw its head in the air when being restrained near the 1000 metres. Shifted out near the 200 metres resulting in I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL being checked. SIZZLING SUN – Raced wide in the early stages. Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL which finished 3RD against MISHANI REBOIUND being declared the winner on the grounds of interference near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200 metres MISHANI REBOUND shifted out when shying at the barriers causing, I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL to be check and lose ground. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL exceeded the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:-1st – No 1 – SEA ECHO2ND – No 2 – I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL3RD – No 3 – MASHANI REBOUND4TH – No 5 – SIZZLING SUN Stewards will inquire into an incident alleged to have taken place following this race. A number of licensees will be interviewed. Race 5: SAVANNAH GOLDFIELDS EINASLEIGH CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1620 MetresThe start of this race was delayed due to the earlier incident. GAELIC – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Carried wider near the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. LOVE ON SUNDAY – Shifted in soon after the start tightening GAELIC. Soon after entering the home straight was carried wider by GAELIC which was carried wider by PETER THE PIPER which shied at the barriers. LORD OF LIGHT – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600 metres. When questioned into its performance today trainer R. Ludwig advised stewards the gelding was stepping up from 1400 metres to 1620 metres and that in his opinion was not comfortable on the track surface today which was a telling factor. WHITTERICK – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. PETER THE PIPER – Shied at the barriers near the 200 metres carrying both GAELIC and LOVE ON SUNDAY wider. Stewards considered an objection lodged by rider N. Day, the rider of LOVE ON SUNDAY which finished 3rd against both PETER THE PIPER (L. Morrison) being declared the winner and GAELIC (S. Sheargold) being declared second, a further protest was lodged by jockey S. SHEARGOLD (GAELIC) which finished second against PETER THE PIPER being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200 metres PETER THE PIPER shied at the barriers on the infield and carried both GAELIC and LOVE ON SUNDAY wider. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had this incident not occurred that LOVE ON SUNDAY would have finished in front of PETER THE PIPER or GAELIC and as such stewards dismissed the objection of 3rd vs 1st & 2nd.
