SIZZLING SUN – Raced wide in the early stages.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Morrison the rider of I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL which finished 3RD against MISHANI REBOIUND being declared the winner on the grounds of interference near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200 metres MISHANI REBOUND shifted out when shying at the barriers causing, I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL to be check and lose ground. The stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL exceeded the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore they upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:-

1st – No 1 – SEA ECHO
2ND – No 2 – I LOVE ROCK’N’ROLL
3RD – No 3 – MASHANI REBOUND
4TH – No 5 – SIZZLING SUN

LORD OF LIGHT – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600 metres. When questioned into its performance today trainer R. Ludwig advised stewards the gelding was stepping up from 1400 metres to 1620 metres and that in his opinion was not comfortable on the track surface today which was a telling factor.

WHITTERICK – Shifted wider to improve leaving the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.

PETER THE PIPER – Shied at the barriers near the 200 metres carrying both GAELIC and LOVE ON SUNDAY wider.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by rider N. Day, the rider of LOVE ON SUNDAY which finished 3rd against both PETER THE PIPER (L. Morrison) being declared the winner and GAELIC (S. Sheargold) being declared second, a further protest was lodged by jockey S. SHEARGOLD (GAELIC) which finished second against PETER THE PIPER being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 200 metres. It was established that near the 200 metres PETER THE PIPER shied at the barriers on the infield and carried both GAELIC and LOVE ON SUNDAY wider. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had this incident not occurred that LOVE ON SUNDAY would have finished in front of PETER THE PIPER or GAELIC and as such stewards dismissed the objection of 3rd vs 1st & 2nd. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had this incident not occurred that GAELIC would have finished in front of PETER THE PIPER stewards dismissed the objection of 2nd vs 1st and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.
