STEWARDS REPORT –SATURDAY 29th June 2002

WEATHER –Fine TRACK – Good
RACE 1: CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000 METRES (9 STARTERS)
The start was delayed momentarily due to MR. INTEGRITY (T Williams) becoming fractious in the mounting yard.
Subsequent to the running of race 1 Ms S Quick the rider of BRAVE BAUM requested that Stewards peruse the patrol footage and consider submissions with regards to the start of the event. The Stewards considered evidence tendered by the Official Starter, his assistant and Ms S Quick the rider of BRAVE BAUM and ordered that at the time of the start that BRAVE BAUM under the terms of AR134A was denied a fair start. As a result the Stewards further ordered that all monies invested on BRAVE BAUM were to be refunded with deductions of 16 cents the win and 14 cents the place taken off the face value of all winning tickets. It was established that subsequent to BRAVEBAUM being loaded into the barriers riderless that Ms S Quick had insufficient to become mounted on BRAVEBAUM to be afforded a fair start.
Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Trevor Williams, rider of MR INTEGRITY requested perusal of the photo-finish print after being placed second by the judge. Upon assessing the print Jockey Williams was satisfied that the Judges Placings were correct and Correct Weight was therefore endorsed on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
RACE 2:CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1000 METRES (8 STARTERS)
BAY WATCH BABE was scratched by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 2.15pm after the mare on attempting to being loaded kicked up receiving an injury to the near-side hind leg. All monies invested on BAY WATCH BABE were ordered to be refunded and further deductions of 20 cents a win and 16 cents a place off the face value of all winning was ordered.
A Williams, rider of PARTING JESTER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at a point nearing the 650 metres when insufficiently clear of SEATTA ridden by Ms G Bell causing that mare to be checked in onto ACCOUTRE which as a result had to be restrained. The suspension of A Williams licence to ride in races for a period of 3 CRA meetings was implemented and will commence immediately and will conclude on Saturday 13th July 2002.
RACE 3:MAIDEN H'CAP - 1100 METRES (10 STARTERS)
EXPRESS FLOWER (Ms S Quick) and SPINDLE (Ms G Bell) made contact on jumping.
RACE 4: OPEN H'CAP – 1200 METRES (6 STARTERS)
As the gates opened SIR SOON (C Bryen) stood flat footed and missed the start by several lengths. Mr Craig Smith who was representing Shane Iverson, the trainer of SIR SOON was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding
Approaching 350 metres Ms S Quick was obliged to alter course on MINI ME in an attempt to obtain clear running.
RACE 5: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1300 METRES (9 STARTERS)
Approaching the 150 metres EEM CEE GEE ridden by M Evans had to be steaded when placed in restricted racing room by MISTRESS DANE (J Piper) which shifted in. It was established that at that point that EEM CEE GEE’s line had been dictated to by TOPICS (C Bryen) to his inside however Stewards advised Jason Piper to exercise further care when placed in similar circumstances.
