Race 1: XXXX Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st MACARAT 2nd GASPARA 3rd NAN BELL 4th- KANE’S LUCK
The first race was delayed approximately 10 minutes due to kangaroos being in close proximity to the course proper.
HAYYLER’S COURT (W Doyle) refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 1:40pm Trainer N. Coyne was advised that HAYYLER’S COURT must pass a barrier jumpout prior to the filly’s next start. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HAYYLER’S COURT be refunded, with the following deductions to betting to apply:
4 cents in the dollar for the win - MACARAT
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner - MACARAT
5cents in the dollar for 2nd place - GASPARA
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place – NAN BELL
GINDIAN MAID (S Watkin) began awkwardly.
LIGHT THE FIRE (R Mules) jumped in onto KANE’S LUCK (N Patchett).
Approaching the 800m MY FIRST ADVENTURE (L Dillon) shifted in onto ALEXABAR (T Bannon).
Near the 800m KANE’S LUCK raced ungenerously for a short distance.
Approximately the 700m GASPARA (S Sheargold) was inclined to hang out onto ALEXABAR.
Approaching the home turn at the 400m CRANKY MAN (C Pye) improved onto the heels of ALEXABAR and had to be steadied.
Race 2: Emerald Jockey Club Class 3 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st LIBERTY TYCOON 2nd ANABEER 3rd POWER TO EXCEED 4th- SHAGSINE
HERITAGE STAR (S Watkin) was slow into stride.
At the start OVERBOARD (C Pye) jumped into EXALTED MOLLIE (M Barnham).
LIBERTY TYCOON (N Patchett) jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start OVERBOARD was inclined to lay in onto EXALTED MOLLIE.
POWER TO EXCEED (L Dillon), EXALTED MOLLIE and BELLACIANO (S Sheargold) all raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the performance of EXALTED MOLLIE, M. Barnham advised that it the mare travelled well but was dissapointed in the manner in which the mare let down. In his opinion EXALTED MOLLIE did not finish the race off as expected. EXALTED MOLLIE was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and was found to be lame in the near hind. Trainer R Meek was advised that veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the mares next start.
Race 3: Wilson Survey Group Class B Handicap- 1200 metres
1st– BAYBY GIRL 2nd – MILORA MONARCH 3rd BAYMORE 4th- INALA ROYALE
Shortly after the start EL MIRAGE (M Barnham) bumped CHICAMONI (S McGovern).
STARS ARE REBORN (S McCallum), BAYMORE (L Dillon) and PROFANITY (S Watkin) all raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 1000m CHICAMONI has rolled in slightly onto EL MIRAGE which had shifted in and away and tightened INALA ROYALE (N Patchett) for a few strides.
At approximately the 100m Jockey S McCallum (STARS ARE BORN) lost his whip and rode hands and heels for the remainder of the event.
Trainer R Meek reported that EL MIRAGE had struck itself on its near side hock and that the gelding had got its tongue over the bit.
Race 4: Milne Bros Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st DASHING DOLL 2nd SECRETS 3rd PARIS BOY 4th – CRAIGLEA TUNES
At the start SOBEIT (S McGovern) was slow into stride.
SECRETS (S McCallum) jumped in and at the same time CRAIGLEA CONVICT (S Watkin) has jumped out resulting in both FOREVER MORE (M Barnham) and PARIS BOY (N Patchett) being tightened and having to check their mounts.
Jockey S Sheargold reported REIGNING TO WIN found it difficult to accelerate under the big weight and also the rain affected track having a bearing on the horses performance. Stewards noted his explanation.
Race 5: Case IH Class 4 Handicap- 1300 metres
1st CATABOLIC 2nd MOSSBEMAD 3rd LEICA ZED 4th- OAKFIELD SANDS
BEE JAY SENZA (S McGovern) raced wide throughout.
CLASSY FRANKY (C Pye) was inclined to over race and hangout throughout the event.
Trainer N Boyle advised stewards that he will have the gelding inspected by the vet and report any abnormalities in the coming days.
SWORD OF HONOUR (R Mules) raced wide from the 900m.
